Many people say that they are integrating Multidisciplinary ideas into clinical practice and education but very few actually do it. When Neil Langridge told us that AECC University College in Bournemouth was doing it, we listened.
Long the champion of Physios in Musculoskeletal practice, pushing boundaries, and new frontiers, Neil has taken up a role at AECC where alongside their world-renowned Chiropractic School they are developing Physiotherapy and other courses. They do community outreach work, have onsite student-led clinics, radiology, and are looking at moving into FCP (First Contact Practitioner) contracts. Our minds were blown, so off we went with some cameras to Bournemouth to see if this was in any way true.
What we found there was truly surprising and inspiring.
🌟 We want to hear from you! 🌟
What did you think of the video? Were you surprised by what we found in Bournemouth or have you got concerns about merging so closely professions such as Physiotherapy and Chiropractic? Let us know on social media, comment on the video, or drop us an email. We still have questions, especially about the outcomes when the dust clears.
Have you got a clinic, department, or other cutting edge sets of ideas that is paving the way to improved healthcare in the Musculoskeletal space? We would love to come and see it for ourselves. Especially if you work for

Thanks for the video. I graduated from the Aecc proud to be a chiropractor and and excited for the new course they plan to offer. The integration is really exciting for the future of MSK. We do need to stop the ego rivalry, it's plays no favours to the patient. We are always better working as a team then against each other. We know the integration works as many clinics already have the different all theese under 1 roof.

Very interesting insight. I feel that from an MSK perspective, this could be a highly effective collaborative route to take. Of course, we know however that physiotherapy encompasses all areas of clinical care, from the very acute (A&E departments / ITU / resp.) to long-term conditions in the community.
I feel that physiotherapy students could learn a lot collaborating with chiros / osteos / sports therapy when it comes to MSK practice, but there are so many other roles that physiotherapists have to become proficient in, in order to be an established AHP prior to working in the NHS.
Just my opinion of course, great video.

This is a great point and it certainly needs to be remembered that physios don't only do MSK!

Changed…The AECC is the only real training establishment in UK for Chiropractors. This will set the direction for chiropractic here and possibly throughout the Europe as well. It has to move Chiropractic forward and give it a modern future leaving behind the debris of the Singh libel case for good.
Chiropractors that don’t like this will deregister and leave. This is already happening with chiros that are vaccine hesitant, anti mask and pro “innate intelligence” type dogma. Covid has already started to force this separation..
This initiative will give chiropractic a pathway into mainstream integration and increased acceptance.
I wonder what this will do for osteopathy though..with the greater number of educational establishments, and less consistency in outlook of the qualified osteopath, will osteopathy be less trusted (despite the efforts of some) and start to wither in its isolation

Fascinating Insight Daniel, I am wondering if we will get pushback on this episode from some Chiropractors. We hadnt thought about the impact on Osteopathy to be honest... Interesting to see what happens!
