I love playing dustbowl simply because it’s so fun playing support pyro there This is one of the maps where a decent pyro can make quite a difference on defence Airblast Uber’s Kill spies Reflect projectiles That makes sentries literally unkillable
The spot on the second point by the boxes, you can put the sentry on the first layer of boxes and it is so much better at reducing demo spam. It is difficult to place and you have to crouch jump to get it right, there should be old youtube videos that shows how to do it.
hey toofty that boxes to the right of the point you can build a sentry gun on top of it and its much harder for blu team to push your gun it works 95% you should try it :)
What in the world was the pyro at 8:50 doing? He sees a level 2 or 3 sentry going up... proves that he sees it because he shoots a flare at either the gun or the engy. But instead of retreating, he just stands there and gets obliterated once the build is done. It's super-funny to watch.
I think he was wanting to airblast the sentry's rocket back. I know since I've done this, standing like an idiot and then airblasting too late. But it is satisfying when it lands.
You briefly touched on it, but in the first area I like the spot on top of the bridge leading to the first point. I usually set up there and use the eureka effect, to quickly set up a teleporter in the mineshaft behind. It has basically the same coverage as your suggestion for tucking it in the corner, but its also super easy to fall back deeper into the tunnel for the spot you mentioned.
4:24 I usually put it on the tracks near the doorway, so it can shoot a trough the pillar and the wagon. It stops them from flanking through the valley and climbing on the highground. Basically you can hold the shack a good two minutes by yourself. Afterwards they realize that they can lob grenades over the shack.
0:54 Point A Overview - 2:36 Aggressive Hold - 3:18 Offensive Hold - 3:45 Passive Hold 4:46 Upper Flank Side-note 5:07 Point B Overview - 6:23 Offensive Hold - 7:14 Passive Hold - 7:52 Defensive Hold - 8:52 Aggressive Hold
Honestly on the second point of Dustbowl 1 you can put a sentry down right in front of the point to shut down the whole courtyard. It's pretty frantic and fun to do that, and Spies will have a hard time doing anything without team coordination because of how exposed they'll be. Second point of Dustbowl 2, my favorite sentry spot is the right most traffic cone sitting on the point, which doesn't have a collision hitbox. And of course, holding concrete is super important; putting a sentry to the right of the stack of lumber will control the courtyard and people coming out of the gated tunnel. Both spots will bottleneck the enemy team well so your teammates have an easy time pushing forward into them. Dustbowl 3, point two, build on the bridge in front of the point. I see way too many people building behind it for some reason. The more traffic you can suppress from around that corner the better.
I REALLY like a spot on the other side of the house right after the main blu spawn exit on the first area, people never expect it to be there, they usually expect it to be on the roof, not on the other side. Not only that, but there's a small wooden structure that makes it harder for people coming from the other more sneaky spawn exit to shoot it, and sometime they can't even see it that well.
On the second point, it's smarter to actually set the sentry on top of those boxes on the point, instead of next to/in front of. The higher elevation means that enemies have to walk more in the line of fire, and splash damage from rockets/grenades either don't hit it, or do diminished damage. You can set a dispenser on the small wall where the point is for cover, and the rest of the team holding the point benefits from it, keeping the point covered.
The common point near that cylo on the 2nd area is good, but give the high ground a try, it is very effective and good if combod with thr wrangler u can protect the point 2
you can make a small sentry nest in the house beside the main spawn door, had me hitting the wrench too much on the sentry. Or there’s the second house you can build inside there. ( second small house beside last spawn door )
Hey Toofty Loved the video! Btw one thing I noticed was that you don't seem to use the Eureka Effect much. There are some pretty cool Eureka Effect shenanigans/rollouts that you can use to get your stuff up just a little faster. Just something that might come in useful on some of the other spots.
Not trying to talk shit or anything but this guy is playing in low skill games and that's why some of these placements work at all, in a higher skill game (like on uncletopia) most of these placements are going to get destroyed almost instantly. For example, at the end he shows how he built his dispenser up against the wall next to the point, this is just idiotic. A competent soldier or sniper will harass anyone using this dispenser relentlessly and there's not much your team can do to stop it because they can do it from a relatively safe position. You can even see in this video a soldier spamming it and because it's close to his sentry the rockets are damaging both his sentry and his dispenser. Rule #1 of engineer, don't place your buildings near other buildings. You also never want your dispenser to be in a place that can be shot at from a distance like that. Low health teammates are going to run over for healing and either get blown up or be forced to run away to a safer place but on the last point you are pretty much forced to run out into enemy fire to get all the way back into spawn since there's practically no health packs around to heal from. Use your best judgement but I would generally suggest not listening to someone who isn't very good at the game in the first place. Again I'm not trying to talk shit, this guy seems to play well at his skill level and these placements work well for him so I'd say fair dues. I'm definitely not saying that all of his suggested placements are bad, some of them are definitely very effective.
Dustbowl the international home of chokes
Best description
well compared to a map like gorge..........it's close
Oh god the flashbacks.
But red still somehow loses every time

Airblast Uber’s
Kill spies
Reflect projectiles
That makes sentries literally unkillable
Nothing's better than being a PyBro for the Engies
There's no greater high than having engineers tell you on voice chat how much they love you for saving their sentries for them when they get killed.
Let me know if I missed any juicy spots!
Pootis
Pls try the critical caber.or use the bootlegger, splendid screen and the ullapool caber.because it one shots heavy's.except with overheal.

Orange juicy? Or apple juicy? It really matters because apple juice sucks...
That first spot you covered has made dustbowl even more hell :(
Engineer for Smash Brothers
I need Hightower Mini-Sentry Spots.
Yes
One spot you could try is on the rocks. The sentry itself is rather small, and is hardly noticed there
you devil
The entire map is a mini-sentry spot.
You monster
Sentry spots are everywhere on this map.

I've always had trouble playing engie on Dustbowl but this video helped me out a lot
