It might seem useless, true, but it depends on what you’re trying to achieve. It won’t necessarily bring bad luck TO the thing you were trying to have good luck with. For example if I wanted to win the lottery I’d drink that, win, and knowing I’d have bad luck after I’d go somewhere else where the bad thing that happens wouldn’t necessarily relate to the victory (maybe it’s a car accident or an injury or something, an event that is at least fixable later on). I find it the funniest potion in the franchise because of the real world implications, although the repercussions (comedown, addiction, likely turning you into an asshole) aren't depicted. The thing about the sword of Griffindor is completely wrong. It is canonical to the books that goblins have a different concept of possession. Items created by goblins are believed to be owned by the goblin that created them in perpetuity. When Godric Griffindor bought the sword for the goblins they viewed it as a loan for his life. When Godric died it was expected to be returned but his son didn't return it. This is one of the things that started the goblin conflicts.

I disagree with the logic you took with ghosts embracing death. The cannon reasoning behind ghosts is not just unfinished business but it's a choice made of fear of the unknown that lies beyond death. It's explained by Nearly headless nick at the end of Order of the Phoenix to harry why Sirius won't come back. Like when harry dies and ends up in kings cross, he has the choice to go on, or go back. I think everyone has that choice but with their body dead they can only come back as sprit.
Admittedly I might have missed that part in the book, but even if that was the case, I have a feeling that lots of people would still choose to come back as ghosts. They still never clarified what actually lied beyond death, so it still remains a mystery. It could be only hell, or an empty void, or some other bad thing. They don’t know. So between a complete shot in the dark, and returning as a ghost (where, yes, you’d never have pleasures anymore, but you also wouldn’t know suffering ever again, and you could keep visiting the loved ones you left behind, such as your own children for example) I think we would have seen waaaaaaaay more ghosts around. People are afraid of death because they’re afraid of what lies beyond, so between that and the familiarity of the real world, yeah, don’t think that many people would take the exit. With this scenario instead I at least attempted to give a slightly different explanation that could still work or at least be plausible

There is one ghost in the castle who either doesn’t know he died or doesn’t acknowledge his own death. I think it’s the history teacher at hogwarts who is this ghost if I remember correctly.
Is there a source to that? I didn’t happen to find it. Also I think it was moreso that he was so bored and sleepy all the time that he often forgot things in general since he was becoming senile even just before his death, but I don’t think he didn’t know he was actually dead. Do you have a source for that? I’d be interested in giving it a look, perhaps I might have just missed it!
Yeah but tbh I feel as though despite how sleepy or forgetful you are you’re bound to notice you’re own body after you stand up. Then again I’ve never died before so who am I to say. Also I heard about the dude once and there’s a Fandom article (despite how chock full of ads are on that site) so maybe read that idk.
I did and could have sworn I didn’t find any information about that, so I’ll have to double check later. Either way, if that’s the case, yes, it would be hard to keep forgetting your body is now a ghost when it’s so obviously translucent, so I don’t think that should have been the case if it really is so. At most, if we go with my idea that ghosts can’t accumulate much further information anymore, then perhaps a side effect is ghosts tending to sometimes forget they are dead, but then it should apply to ALL of them. So yeah either way there is an inconsistency and it should have been ironed out a bit more
Very good analysis and theories, I enjoyed a lot of your fixes and alternatives! only thing I can disagree on super strongly is the privacy thing. The majority of the spells/curse/tools used to eavesdrop and violate privacy are supposed to be difficult to acquire or achieve. We just have a long list of powerful/gifted/rich characters that are able to access these things with enough ease for us to see it so much. Those potions are exceptionally difficult to make, require rare and expensive ingredients and a long time to brew, alongside actually possessing the knowledge and skill to brew said potion then finally, the success rate of said potion once brewed. The first polyjuice potion that Hermione brewed half failed because she got the wrong hair, and the potion didn't change Ron or Harry's voices, which would be a much harder thing to justify as they got older and they clearly sound nothing like the other boys. its only one example, but I think it should kind of (within the limits of JKs plot holes/inconsistencies) give a higher level of privacy across the world of magic, especially when factoring in that most wizards and witches don't have the resources nor time to focus studying all of these different types because they have careers and specializations or even just different affinity which makes this stuff about as common as a listening device in a random hotel room, not impossible but you can check for them and its not going to be present in every single hotel room you stay in over your life.
Very good analysis yourself and very good points, thanks for pointing them out! They make sense, and perhaps I missed the level of complexity that are required to make them. However, with that said, it still shows that they’re spells and potions that are taught not just to students, but straight up teenagers or younger. That’s like teaching high schoolers how to eaves drop or pick a lock. They’re even available in the library of the school, regardless if in the restricted section or not. Plus the costs are often not even that bad. Like, poly juice potion takes a month to make and you can’t afford to mess up, sure, but there’s no terrible consequence either. It’s not like if you get it wrong you’re permanently transformed, and you can just try again. Annoying, sure, but not a tragedy (Dark-Lord-thwarting notwithstanding). It’s still knowledge that is perfectly available to everyone, and this is a pre-internet era too. So, I still think that the privacy issue would still be an issue. With that said, I did really like your point! Were there any other topics you had disagreements with? Any feedback is welcome! 😄
Polyjuice potion does change your voice (you take on the form of the other person, including their vocal chords and all the other speech organs). Them keeping their original voices is a cinematic choice made for the movies, likely to help the audience identify which character is truly speaking, even while disguised. It’s one of those creative liberties that deviates from the books.
@@constanzar9111 That's fair, and I can see why they changed that for flare for the films. Although for the point above, it still doesn't change the fact that it's a spell that, while difficult, isn't impossible to make and can cause a whole world of complications for privacy reasons. Heck, if the voice DOES change then that makes the disguise all the more credible and the identity theft all the more dangerous, so the films actually did a good thing in at least letting the voices stay the same so that people abusing it can't get away with it so easily (even if it would make sense for vocal cords to transform as well).
51:11 I disagree with you we can see in our world throughout history, people of different religions, using magic and saying the magic came from God, actually normal and see the history of magic and religion. Many priest, you spells and other things is very interesting history.
Yes, but in our case we had no way of actually explaining the real world, so religion helped fill in the gap with metaphors and stories and religion. In this case, if magic is a real thing, and there isn't a sign of divine intervention (and there never was any indication in this franchise that magic IS divine in this case) then their concept of religion would have been different still
I'm building a magic system right now for a story I'll likely never write (it's basically magical trade school instead of boarding school) and watching this was very helpful! I'm definitely subbing lol Maybe one of these days, if i get the whole system worked out, i could get you to go over it 😁
Thank you for the sub, and I'm glad to hear I was able to inspire you for your story! 😄 And possibly, sure! I'm always up for collabs and such. If you have any further questions or need help, feel free to ask away! 😎
Idk that you explained Chaos Magic correctly. Chaos Magic is not “emotional magic”….it’s basically a counterpoint to the “light vs dark” magic of other magical systems. Chaos Magic is about using what “works” to do stuff. So…you could make Batman your “idol” and do magic to Batman. And your belief is what is supposed to make it work. Hope that helps. Otherwise, neat video.
That’s fair. I wasn’t trying to use the exact kind or terminology, it was more using the word “chaos” to indicate that this magic could cause things to change at random in a “chaotic” way, unless harnessed. It would be its own thing But thanks for pointing that out, and glad you liked the video anyway!
There's a theology of nontheistic chthonicism running through the books - the preoccupation with death and the dead, the ghosts roaming Hogwarts unchecked, the reverence they show to the school's founders and the 28 noble house suggesting ancestor worship, the existence of dementors, the fact the ministry of magic is built around a portal to the afterlife, the fact the objects described as holy in the story are explicitly related to death...
There are definitely a lot of themes, yes, including various European based mythologies. Although then again there are also Asian influences, such as perhaps Viktor Krum’s dragon during the Triwizard Tournament being a more Chinese inspired dragon. Even spinxes exist in the Goblet of Fire book. So it’s safe enough to assume that perhaps ALL theologies have certain origins, and perhaps the other countries in the world have other devices related to their interpretation of the afterlife, but we followed the more Catholic based ones because Hogwarts is set in the UK (plus Rowling is Catholic herself I belief)

If I remember correctly, Hermione tried multiplying their food when searching for horkruxes in the end. It worked, but the food was only half as filling and tasty then. So it only looked like more but wasn't really. Maybe it's the same with material, or it doesn't have a lasting effect. But I enjoyed your video
Oh wow that must have completely flown over my head then, lol. But ok thanks for pointing that out! It can still come close to matching what I proposed in the video then 😂 Also thank you!
@@AmelieFlad I'll have to double check myself as well then eventually, cause it would be some nice little lore that I'd grateful to know was at least somewhat accounted for. If you want, feel free to check out the other videos of the channel, there's plenty more material on a whole bunch of other movies and such so far and I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on them 😉
My understanding of ghosts is not so much that they left something unfinished but that they were too attached to life, too afraid to let go of life and “move on”, so they got stuck in ghost form. In the books, choosing to be a ghost is described as a character flaw. If I remember correctly, Harry has a conversation with Nick after Sirius dies and Nick tells him this.
This is great! You should play Hogwarts Legacy. It addresses a lot of what you tackle here, both out of necessity to make the game playable and within the plot of the story. I've had almost as much fun considering the implications of how it deals with those questions as I've had playing the game itself.
Thank you! And also, oh I most certainly HAVE played the game now and adoring it is putting it mildly 🤩 Buuuuuut with that said, I’m actually surprised to see there was not much else that it could add to what I said here. Yeah there was ancient magic but it never clarified what ancient magic is exactly, beyond something that can make someone explode, and that you can see traces of it if you have the gift. So, I don’t think it’s exactly something I would be too inclined to use. Not to mention that a lot of elements were created with the purpose of having a balanced gameplay in mind (obviously) and it’s still unclear how canon this is with the entire HP lore. So, for now, while I utterly adored it, I won’t be making comments or videos on integrating that specifically, but we’ll see what the future holds
Oh how many times I heard that one, lol. And yeah, I know, and I fully agree, it would mean Jesus might have been a wizard all along. Which honestly could be fair, as far as I'm concerned, and considering the reason of his sacrifice, I wouldn't be surprised if even witches and wizards saw his actions and morality to be so great that he was worthy of being celebrated almost in the same way Muggles were. OR, perhaps there was some other magic event happening around Jesus and THAT is what magic folk celebrate. Honestly either answer could work for me. What do you think?
Absolutely not, of course. Or not at first. But it did have to be more grounded later, so I figured I experiment and theorize at least for fun HOW it could be fixed, considering what we were given
@ at the start of the video when I commented this, I thought you were simply explaining how Rowling’s magic system worked. I didn’t know you were making adjustments.
Ah no worries then, lol. And yeah I definitely did all of this with the intention of adjusting or fixing the entire world while also not breaking the plot. It’s the point of the entire channel afterall, as you can see I did the same treatment with a bunch of other movies and shows! 😉
Thank you so much man! Every sub counts and I deeply appreciate it! I definitely put as much effort as I can in all of this and hope the channel will be fully discovered soon 😂 And also thank you! I’ll keep you in mind! ✨💪😎

I'm definitely subbing lol
Maybe one of these days, if i get the whole system worked out, i could get you to go over it 😁
Thank you for the sub, and I'm glad to hear I was able to inspire you for your story! 😄
And possibly, sure!
It would be its own thing
But thanks for pointing that out, and glad you liked the video anyway!
Just got through Part 1. Unreal content! Well researched and quality product. Wil be sharing in hopes it helps you create more unreal videos 😊
Thank you so much man! I deeply appreciate it! A lot of work goes into these so I’m glad people are enjoying them so far! ❤️ and if you like part 1, definitely let me know what you think of the other parts cause… well, there’s a looooot more coming here that you’ll be appreciate 😏
And also, yeah, I’d deeply appreciate it if you could share this with others, it would mean the world to me, thank you! 🥰🙏
Excellent video. Very impressive. I wish you channel to grow
Definitely working to get there 😎
And thank you! 😁
424 views should be more like 424k views to be honest
Thank you! And I do think so too. If you could help spread the word it would be most appreciated! ❤️
Time travel is indeed what you explain of parallel dimensions 😮❤ we need to get back in space time for our souls to be safe again, into lighter dimensions where everything is in order 🙌 👍
Yeah, it’s veeeeery complicated to say the least
whole chaos magic bit reminds me of curse energy system of jujutsu kaisen
I sadly haven’t seen Jujutsu Kaisen yet, so I can’t testify to that (although someone did request I do make a review of that). But I’ll take your word for it 😂
felix felicis is just wizard c*ke, and everyone who read the book and had high quality blow can confirm
I will take your word for it, my dude 🤣
Huey Lewis haha I always sang that when originally reading the books. Gold
Ok glad to know I’m not the only one who heard that in their head too 🤣
Amazing vid! Subscribed!
Thank you! 🥰
What part did you enjoy the most? 😎
It can still come close to matching what I proposed in the video then 😂
Also thank you!
@worldbuildingfilms507 no problem! I could also remember it differently, haven't read it in years. And you had great ideas too
@@AmelieFlad I'll have to double check myself as well then eventually, cause it would be some nice little lore that I'd grateful to know was at least somewhat accounted for. But glad you liked the other ideas too! If you want, feel free to check out the other videos of the channel, there's plenty more material on a whole bunch of other movies and such so far and I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on them 😉
@@worldbuildingfilms507 no problem, and thanks!
Good video 👍
Thank you!
Amazing analysis!
Thank you! ❤️
You might wanna check the other videos too, there’s plenty more franchises that I analyzed just as deeply 😉😎
I might have missed that part then. Would you happen to know where it said that in the books?
This is great!
You should play Hogwarts Legacy. It addresses a lot of what you tackle here, both out of necessity to make the game playable and within the plot of the story. I've had almost as much fun considering the implications of how it deals with those questions as I've had playing the game itself.
Thank you! And also, oh I most certainly HAVE played the game now and adoring it is putting it mildly 🤩
Buuuuuut with that said, I’m actually surprised to see there was not much else that it could add to what I said here.
So by that logic do you the jeuse was a wizard?
Oh how many times I heard that one, lol. And yeah, I know, and I fully agree, it would mean Jesus might have been a wizard all along. Which honestly could be fair, as far as I'm concerned, and considering the reason of his sacrifice, I wouldn't be surprised if even witches and wizards saw his actions and morality to be so great that he was worthy of being celebrated almost in the same way Muggles were. OR, perhaps there was some other magic event happening around Jesus and THAT is what magic folk celebrate. Honestly either answer could work for me. What do you think?
I here for the growth of this channel! Like and subscribe people! 🤞🏽💙
Thank you so much! ❤️❤️❤️
This is not grounded in reality whatsoever. J. K. Rowling wasn’t thinking about any of this.
Fat subscribe! Love supporting small channels with amazing content! If you ever need any graphic design help feel free to hmu!
Thank you so much man! Every sub counts and I deeply appreciate it! I definitely put as much effort as I can in all of this and hope the channel will be fully discovered soon 😂
And also thank you! I’ll keep you in mind! ✨💪😎
