You're an absolute legend Qazi! It's not that you know the techniques, it's that you're able to present it and explain it so well. It's highly motivating. You are amazing at teaching.
Just watched this for the 3rd time as a beginner. With this lesson I'm able to actually achieve a look close to what the filmconvert nitrate plugin was achieving. I no longer rely on plugins!

That's what I was looking for man!!!! Can you pls make a guide about how to grade images like what should I use and what after what, curves, wheels, etc, like workflow especially interested in flog2
Nice work! Would love to see how you match up two shots in a row, lets say this is the closeup and the next shot is a wide angle or medium. I always struggle with that part.
Your tutorials are so good that even after I went through all the course of your amazing masterclass (best investment ever), watching those free tutorials still provide fire informations not to miss. 🔥
Waqas sir you are the reason why I leave premier pro and switch to davinci resolve and guys he is expect if you wanna be pro color grading mater you have to listen him ya for start its painful to understand new software but trust within month you will nailed it....
Gosh! I’m learning so much ! I love your setup and I’m going to build something like it! Your information is so valuable ! Can’t wait for the webinar on the 3rd !
man, what an amazing tutorial! best channel ever for learning color grading!!!! thanks for putting all the effort. saving up money to buy the full course.
Thanks for all these awesome vids Qazi Keep rewatching and then watching others to really understand whats going on and how to use the tools and make the most of them Still trying to figure lots out, but getting there slowly
This tutorial is a revise lesson to me...sometimes its very important to go back and revise all those things what u have learnt before and then go further....thank u so much sir...so much respect and love for u♥️
Boy this looks like the opening scene of a goddamn action film and always, looking the before and after of your grades i am convinced this is actually art...you're an artist man! Love your video tutorials from the first one and looked at the 1 hour tutorial for coloring sony files since i have one and i kinda hate 8bit. Keep it up man, amazing stuff
Super easy and well construction tutorial to follow. Thank you, this truly helps me getting things up to par with very little work for a quick in and out to export.
Freaking cool tutorial as always, besides that video had covered a tip that has been considered a riddle to me for a long time. You are the greatest, bro! 💪👍
On the surface, this seemed like it might be a pretty basic tutorial, but I should have known better coming from the Qazman... Not only did you prove a really clear demonstration of how the two tools are different, you explained why that difference is important and how to use them together to create an amazing image. Boom! 👊🗯
Masterpiece 👍 I had to work on project for the first time with Resolve a couple days ago, I didn't sleep for three days !! I used Eos R c-Log and my footage looks worst then ever before.. I couldn't make even a good starting point. Thanks for your content, I think I have seen all videos on you tube about Resolve but you have ability to explain all this things and make it clear👏👏 Quick question, what type of c-log is EOS R ?
I find log wheels especially useful in HDR grading (resolve studio) since HDR content is PQ curve log based, not linear, so that's where log wheels really make sense. Of course in a SDR workflow this makes sense to definitely use both though.
Great explanation Qazi. One side comment that came to mind when I saw you moving your scopes window around...I wish that Blackmagic would allow us to dock the Scopes anywhere we want. It sucks that we're so limited on UI customization.
Great man!! Regarding the new Sony a7sIII, I would love to watch you color grade some footage from it, when available, to have your thoughts on their 10bit 4:2:2 quality. Or even the supposed 16bit Raw with external monitor.
This is great, I do have one question. When working with Red IPP2 workflow, is there a reason not to apply the Log to REC709 conversion lut at the end of the node tree? Can I simply try to grade footage like what you did here? Also I love the energy of the actor's face, may I ask from what film is the shot from?
Qazi, a lot of the times I see other colorists drop a utility lut when grading footage shot in one of the "flat" profiles, yet I never saw you do this. Is it at all neccessary to have this step? Or are other using it as a "starting" point? Thanks again for sharing your knowledge with us!
This is unbelievably helpful. You da man! Question though. You said primaries and log wheels should be used together. But does it matter where in the node tree the log node goes? Like should you do a separate log node when you are starting out with the initial exposure/cont adjustment? Or just do them in the same node when you do them or what
Qazi: have you ever thought about using an over-sized Windows cursor??? (In the Windows mouse pointer settings) Or, even an over-sized *colored* Windows cursor??? Do you think it might make it easier for viewers to follow the constantly and rapidly moving cursor as you point to things??? It moves rapidly in the tutorials and I find myself trying to catch up when it instantly seems to disappear from one spot and then try to find it in the screen among the other (also white) text. Thanks for great videos, Qazi!
I've been living a lie. Yes, (sob), wasted all those years at the feet of the log wheel gods and wondering why they seemed to work so well sometimes but so uninspiring at other times. Answer: as your grey scale test pattern showed, the log wheels have, to me, surprisingly sharp cut-offs in their applicable tone range. So, as you say, first might best be the "old" Lift-Gamma-Gain, as they apply across all the tone values. Thanks, Qazi! Mike
Your video blew my mind and made me curies, soooo I DID THAT TEST IN FCPX! and what I found out is that FCPX color wheel is actually the Primaries wheel!!! although FCPX named the wheels - shadows, midtones and highlights (like Devinci LOG wheels), when I tested it with your gray scale image, the scopes reacted like Devinci Primaries wheel! what do you think of that?:)
How do I avoid the excessive splotches caused by qualifiers? When I qualify a color on a static frame it works well, but then when I play the clip colors go crazy.
Broo.. awesome info here.. but I have a question.. please please someone answer this.. my colour workspace seems so odd, the video looks so Small and the wheels look so big I can't even notice the changes I'm making.. how can I do to change the proportions of the colour workspace to look like yours???
@@theqazman Seriously, in one video, you helped me understand my biggest mistakes in colorgrading!!! I watched two other videos and my colograding skills have ridiculousely improved!!!!! Seriously considering saving up for your masterclass!! Thank you man, thank you so much!
