I don't think enough people respect his musical prowess. Doing the whole prince thing and playing all the parts on the song. Mac's definitely talented.
Had the privilege to stop by his house in Far Rockaway, New York. After hearing his invitation for a cup of coffee on his album, of course. Got off the subway and wandered down the street to his neighborhood with the sun setting pink and purple. I saw his Grateful Dead tapestry though the window. The vibes were just unreal. Kiki answered and had told me he left to tour Mexico... I left him a note written on a water bottle saying hello. Fast forward to this year... I live in LA now. I was at a Homeshake concert and DeMarco and Jerry Paper showed up. I finally got the chance to tell Mac about our missed encounter in NYC. Then he asked me for a cigarette. It all came full circle.
+becca i met him once & he was actually really sincere. such a funny dude though & i applaud his judgment on when being funny is appropriate. god i love him
Saw this video 8 years ago, just starting my job, 25. Really help get through, thankfully everything went fine, have a family now. Dont know why but every now and then, i come back to the video. Nostalgic vibes
From wikipedia : "It was initially developed by Remington Vernam, whose signature "R. Vernam" inspired the name of the neighborhood." My god, he's actually right..
A lot of comments here of people saying he's living like he's poor. Just judging by the Synthesizers he has, Dudes definitely making something. I see here a Yamaha DX7 and Roland Juno-60 (which are around 2 Grand). In other videos I've seen him have a Roland JX-3P and Sequential Prophet 5 (which go for 4+ Grand)!
This has become one of my favorite videos on youtube in the part year. I love being able to sneak a peak behind the curtains into Mac's setup for this album, and the fun uplifting energy Mac comes to the tracks with.
he is full of his childhood references around him. i think it says a lot. when you keep your inner child around, makes it easy to access this part of ypu.
"now he takes a little solo gets a little carried awaaaayyy" *weird arm flaying movements and knocks over water onto keyboard* "aaahh" *kiki laughs adorably*
Omg i wonder what stress he was under, maybe they put a deadline on him? Cause he has that same tweaking energy that i get when ive been writing an essay for 3 days without sleep and i need it to be fucking perfect and my mind is like mac here
i love re visting this video after 2 years or trying my own music production, and appreciate the instruments that mac is using such as the Dx7 and the Juno
I can't put my finger on all the wonderful old souls that seem to be inside this young man, his humor, his voice, his vivaciousness. John Lennon, John Belushi or maybe sharing a cosmic connection with the still living Bill Murray - but then holding a seance on a home studio ala gene+dean ween ... man I don't know a goddamned thing but that this Mac DeMarco is something else, a wonderment, a gift, a generous talent....

Dude's famous and still lives a simple existence. Blessed, hope he never stops doing his thing.
Reminisciences Famous musician does not equal a rich existence these days. These artists today are broke as hell.
LilRedRasta You'd be surprised. All his equipment is definitely over $2000
Slightly Slower Songs I'm willing to bet it's even more.. He's got 2 fenders, a shit ton of roland synths and a drum kit
Slightly Slower Songs and mixing panels, even more guitars, a bass.. Speakers, amplifiers
The stuff from 2 was quite simplistic but since Salad Days he's pretty much spent all his money on music from the looks of things
I don't think enough people respect his musical prowess. Doing the whole prince thing and playing all the parts on the song. Mac's definitely talented.
***** True, but is it not a talent just because other people have done it? Dummy.
I don't think enough people respect his penis at the beginning.
+thunder but are all of them as good?
everybody does the prince thing dude c'mon you know better, its easier than having a bunch of drug addicts try to agree on shit.

It's a classic
mac lives like he doesn't make any fucking money
Kevin Buckley Because he doesn't spend money on things he doesn't need. Pretty smart; he's probably got a shitload saved.
Kevin Buckley probably doesn't make much to be honest. I think people would be surprised how much famous indie artists make. It's barely middle class.
Kevin Buckley the equipment he had in that room was probably only totaled between 10-20k. I have nearly that much just from collecting over the years.
Kevin Buckley subtle :v
what is?
such a beautiful film
capturing the plight of the mac in his natural environment
such a beautiful smell
Captaincrunchfan1999 his apartment prolly smells like cigarettes and dirty dick, still love ya mac 😂
