A cool idea I see other tabletop channels do is mod and paint their gunpla kits to look like something out of warhammer. Perhaps someday you can do the same as a means to make an impromptu game piece to add to the plastic pile, lol. Loved the video man. It's always great seeing a newcomer enjoy a hobby in the same way most of us do. Keep up the good work Paul!
Its me again paul. Im here to recommend 30 minute missions again, a base kit and two associate packs are a great intro to the series. I want to also recommend the turn x because its asymmetrical
I feel you so much on the runner layout issues. I recently built a 30MF Liber Knight kit and it was such a breath of fresh air, the runners snapped into numbered segments that corresponded to different parts of the body. Made organization soooooo much easier.
It's still kinda confusing for some ppl but kits in recent year has better part separation for different runner. like for example there will be B1 and B2, while B2 is just a part of B1 so you'd know that it's like a L/R arm or leg situation just by looking at it. Of course I only build RG and HG so I'm not so sure in MGs but yeah, the technology is still evolving.
they've thankfully also gotten a lot better at emptying out runners so you can just toss them aside. Used to be a lot of cases where you'd have a runner with like two tiny pieces left you'd have to keep around because they're gonna be used for like the final page lol
For a foray into HG, maybe try the more imaginative Build- series of kits, which are varying degrees builds that use an older kit as the base. Or if it’s frame builds, I’d say the Seed Freedom and Iron Blooded Orphans lines, granted the latter is known for the frame loosening with time, so top coat the joints and cement together the parts that sandwich around the inside of the upper torso to ensure that remains together.
Some people don't really like the zeta ver ka on release they think the flatter chest compaired to the older MG normal version makes it looking weird. But the flatter chest is actually more anime accurate....
Tbh you can choose to push the flaps down to make them anime accurate or up to look cool like the mg 2.0 but they will inevitably droop down after much movement
If you want just a bit of pain but really impressive results, I really recommend you look at the Perfect grade Zeta. It is old, weird and bloody magnificent
I think people are just enjoying your enthusiasm tbh. I didnt click on this for an in depth review of the Ver Ka. I did want to check in to see what was new. I also like seeing what 40k stuff you're working on. I think customization might be something you enjoy? Start with slapping a different backpack on and aee where it takes you. Maybe see if any extra bits seem like they could make fun 40k terrain? If you do decide to paint, doing a grimdark 40k paintjob could be funny
@caveychip7 That's right! You've tried Spearhead already. It's only a matter of time before my years of waiting and politely asking finally bear fruit!
ill just say, the gundams look great as they are....but the transfers definatly elevate them. i dont apply all, as the ver. ka get a bit daft...but most. look cool. great video!
I am working to convert a gunpla kits to a Tau Riptide while keeping all the articulation of the kit. I have have tau armor 3d printed. A trick I learn is to open the instructions as much as you can can cut all the bits for the parts out and place them on each step. That speed me up instead of find part, cut part out, place one part and repeat. Also, I build weapons first. Many times weapon and assorties have their own unique spures and reducing the spure down also speed you up.
@@PaulIsBadAtStuff 30 minute missions just recently released the Armored core 6 kits, and they are awesome, its the first time we finally got an armored core model kit line and they really did it right, you should really try it out, speaking of which have you played armored core 6? its like a proper mech game where you can actually customize your mech like its a gunpla kitbash, plus the story is pretty decent for a game that barely shows people in it.
I take out every part off the runner, into a box of separators and start from there. Brings out another way of building your kits. One more thing I've started to do is using Gundam markers to color parts of the inner frame and other parts that look too plastic-y.
Recommendation for the water slides: Put them on each part before you put everything together. It makes it easier to put them on some hard to reach parts.
Those decals are just a signature trademark for Ver. Ka. Tbh, most casual builders only apply the big decals or don't apply them at all. Only serious builders apply all the decals.
I just finished the zeta gundam ver ka recently with the water transfers and I agree that I had issues with small parts. The one I had trouble with was the yellow pieces for the vents on the shoulder armor. They just don't sit securely until you overlay the blue armor over it and had it just pop off into the void that is the carpet. I was fortunate to find the part quickly for the first three vents, but the third I couldn't find it until the next day. It put me off on continuing when that happened and tried getting a quote for just that small piece. Fortunately I was able to find it and complete it and I really like how it looks. I added photo etch parts and some metal thrusters to it and it will look nice next to my forever transformed rg zeta gundam.
I agree about the pain of tiny pieces I built the MG Hi-Nu Ver Ka some time ago and it had several small parts that refused to get in place Even had a recent kit i built, the MG Exia, have its pilot figure constantly refuse to get in the cockpit as if the peg was too big for the slot
Personal opinion is that everyone in Warhammer should try at least one Entry Grade or High Grade kit. Of everyone did that, then for the price of 25-50% of an Intersessors box per person we could all collectively raise our expectations towards GWs pricing scheme 😅 On a more serious note, Gunpla is freedom. I'm glad you're enjoying the hobby in your own time and way, and look forward to all of the future content you make.
One of the things I love about gunpla is just how precise the parts are. Like, I remember growing up as a kid I would build model airplane kits and oftentimes the parts would be warped in the box and you'd have to glue everything together and it ended up being an absolute mess of seam lines and everything. With gunpla, though, everything always fits together like a dream. Why would I pay $20 for a Revell model that I'm going to have to glue and sand and paint just to end up with something that looks decent when I can spend $20 to sit down and enjoy snapping together a gunpla with nothing but a glass file and a pair of nippers? Especially when that gunpla will be mostly color accurate off the bat and fully articulated for posing. And if I *want* to do a repaint or custom work I totally can, but it's not required to enjoy the experience.
Perfect grades aren’t any harder than anything else. Just more parts. Exception here is the perfect grade zeta. Has some wiring you have to do for its multiple leds, which you have to build. It’s not hard per say, but it’s enough for someone to look at it and be like “nope”
there are several types of decals, Stickers witch are common in HG kits all the way into PG sometimes (but not often) and are denoted by the silver sheet , decal stickers are most common in RG kits and are on a clear sheet with a white backing these you can peel off and place and then there are transfers in both dry(cut out, place and rubb/scratch on) and water types (cut out and do 40ktransfurtreetment) , if you ever get a kit with ANY coating and dry transfers DO NOT even attempt to rubb them on as this will damage the coating no matter how carefull you try not to.
I would like to say. I truly enjoy appreciate your videos and the content you do. I'm a long-time builder of gunpla and a semi recent one to warhammer. I can actually understand what you mean about the split runners funnily enoghe! 😅 Keep doing what you do, mate! Love your videos and your viewpoints! 😁 (Ps careful on the RG Epyons backpack at the end of the build. Make sure the inner part is clicked in before you slot the cover on. Almost broke mine forcing it.😅)
if you want customization and tbh the "crack" side of Bandai's line up, try 30 Minute Missions/Fantasy/Sisters like where they can be interchangeable and compatible in some HG gundam kits including Gundam Builders Series they also have Armored Core ones as well
welcome to the hobby : } actually gunpla is just one of the franchise in the Pla model hobby. now i want to see you tackle the Megami device / Frame arm girls from Kotobukiya :P
5:00 was my exact experience building the MG Astray Red Frame Kai-- a great kit, mind you-- but there are a pair of small plastic brackets (a longer bar and a small cap on the other end) you put into the back of the lower legs to secure the knee joint in place and the small red cap I was trying to fit into the slot ended up flinging into my kitchen never to be seen again. The piece isn't necessary for the stability of the kit, nor is visible with the outer armor on, but the knowledge that my kit is technically incomplete still bugs me to this very day.
If you want kits that'll nake good "anger bait" i would highly recommend either the Dendobrium or the MGEX Unicorn. Dendobruum doea requires a lot of shelf presence. The Unicorn is an incredible piece of engineering but also a pain to build.
If your looking for interesting, then may i recommend 30 minute mission. They are like simpler high grades by are highly focused on customizablity in interchangeably. If your looking to kit bash and paint, tbese are the ones id recommend. They are also slightly cheaper than other gunpla models. Not by much, but it makes buying multiple models to kit bash with more feasible.
If you want another master grade kit, i recommend you should check out the Gundam seed line, they have great possibility, great designs, fun to build, and the accessories are nice. You should get the Aile Strike or the Strike rouge as a safe bet, even though they're the same but with different colors, both have cool accessories, so you can pick which one you like most.
the main reason why the runners are labeled the way they are and why some separate into multiple sections is so that Bandai can take parts from these kits and use them in other kits in a seamless way. the inner frame as an example is going to be used in many kits going forward but they aren't going to need the frame parts that you directly attach the outer armor panels too since whatever new kit the frame would be used in will have different outer armor that won't be able to connect in the same way.
If you wanted to try some actual Gundam fiction, I'd recommend "The 08th MS Team" OVA series. Yes, there are some nuances that you'll miss out on by not seeing the original 1979 series, but I think it has the best all around balance of military mecha action, animation, and story telling, wrapped up in the style of a classic war movie, without losing the anti-war message at the heart of the franchise. Or you could jump off the deep end with G Gundam; Alternate Universe series where Martial Arts is a super power and Neo America has a boxing, surfing, football player gundam.
Suggestion: do one of the *original* 1:144 scale kits from 1980. They are *ancient* in terms of construction, sculpt, fit, and finish. You will be in utter agony and pain, *but* you will also be sitting atop a throne of blood and desolation as a *god* if you complete it. And also they’re very cheap. You can buy a reprint of an older kit for pennies on the dollar depending on what it is. You can skip all the painting of it isn’t your fancy and just glue (no snap-fit in 1980) them together and see what you end up with.
The thing about Bandais own water decals. Is that they just suck. They take a while to start working, and they take a while to actually settle and glue on the plastic. They are just not good. This is where 3rd party decals come in. Delpi, G-Reworks, and SMP. Are the best 3rd party decals around. They are high quality, easier to work with, and work much much faster than bandais. And they actually stick. It may seem overwhelming. But I promise you, the payoff will be well worth it. And your gunpla will look much nicer and fancier. Just remember to use a mark setter, to help them glue better. And a mark softer, to help them blend into the plastic.
As someone who does enjoy detailing up Gunplas with the waterslides, I understand. You'll find that its hard to find people who use every waterslide decals of a Ver.Katoki kit.
i reccomend the high grade asshimar! its a very old kit but its suprisingly good for when it came out, it can transfrom into a flying donut so thats somethnig to talk about. most of all it doesnt parts swap what so ever so its really good for an old kit especially compared to model kits of today that rely on part swapping on a smaller a scale. There are weird thnigs about that i feel only when you on own the kit that you will realise.
I got this years back, absolute nightmare to handle. I've jumped ship from gundam to the 30 minutes line. Great for kitbashing and customizing. Might be able to make a 40k dreadnought out of it
Youve got to be insane to do a Ver Ka waterslide sheet. Ive been slogging through it on the Sazabi doing the full sheet. The final product looks cool, but its not nearly enough satisfaction to outweigh the time sink and tedium that is the 80th warning sticker thats been put there because the intern lost a finger. My advice is find the cool looking stickers and go from there
I have built 2 MG Ver Ka, Unicorn FA and Banshee, while the decals can be overwhelming you don't necessarily have to apply all, just put the ones on that you think looks really good or dont, the kits already looks good without decals and kits themselves aren't really bad. If you want to build another MG I recommend Barbatos or Wing Zero Ver Ka. Fun Fact the reason that some of your parts or nubs turn into a projectile is because of the double Blade nippers, it actually bends the plastic to it's breaking point before snipping so all the energy from being bent is released when snipped hence the projectile, to avoid this, use a single Blade nipper, it's expensive for some reason and the Blade is really thin but because of the sharpness of the Blade it's acurally cutting off the plastic leaving a cleaner cut and avoiding possible eye damage when a projectile comes. 😂
Buy the Master Grade Thunderbolts, The Full armor and the Psycho Zaku. They are truly unique build due to sheer size and the use of plastic bags as covers for the joints.
You should try 1/100 IBO, it's easy to assemble since the parts isn't small but you ended up nitpick certain parts like no weapon options set or you need other kit to get the ground type.
What a great video! I loved the tongue-in-cheek rant segment. After this, you've got me somewhat interested in Gunpla again. But if you're looking for more creative gunpla video ideas. You can always kitbash your own out of parts from different kits. You can try other, non-Gundam branded Gunpla kits like 30 Minute Missions. Or maybe you could take a page out of 2023 Paul's book and add some kind of twist/gimmick to the process that makes it more interesting for you. However, I want to see that Age of Sigmar video first.😉
honestly one of the best kits i build are the master grade extreme strike freedom, the size is amazing for display , amazing to build . a lot of the kit's i've built after finishing it i never had the urge to get the same one again but i really wanna experience the building of master grade extreme strike freedom again, there's also the master grade extreme unicorn where the build are more for veterans builder because of the leds, makes for an amazing display piece , but the building is painful. but yeah master extreme strike freedom a 1:100 scale so it fits better on shelf but still look and build amazingly
waterslides get easier the more you do them. Still slow, but i was able to do all the ones on the FAZZ in about 3 days. The hard part about them is making sure they actually stick. Some of them are so small they dont have much surface to bind too, and flak off very easily. Def invest in Mark softer if you haven't already, and a nice top coat to prevent direct contact with fingiez.
Should try the Wing Ver. Ka that thing is an absolute masterpiece (or if you are willing to spring for it MGEX strike freedom since its the best gundam kit ever made)

designs being caked in NASCAR level decals is a rather infamous trait of Ver Ka kits, also if you thought the parts on this kit is tiny, hoo boy wait until you build either the Victory or V2 Ver Kas
you should get the double zeta ver ka next! it would be the perfect duo with the zeta. (i am definitely not biased because i the double zeta is my favorite mobile suit)
RG Zeta is the only kit to ever defeat me and get trashed. Also 100+ Decals: that’s a Hajime Katoki staple. (Katoki being the mechanical designer and the Ka in Ver Ka). If you want to build a perfect grade: PG Exia (has a lighting kit you can buy for it too) or the PG Unleashed RX-78-2 are my recommendations.
For me, who absolutely loved the real grade. This mg ver ka is much more stable and overall better, but I came from collecting transformers, so transforming mobile suits are my favorite, and the transformations are easy to me due to the abstract nature of mobile suit alt forms
you should try the FM 1/100 gundam aerial MG levels of detail above HG build but similar simplicity personally one of my favorite kits and doesn’t carry any issues the past non-MG 1/100 scale kits
Lol yeah, I also don’t do those ver.ka style decals. After finishing, I always be so relieved…. That I do not have anymore energy for decals so I just put them in the plastic bag and be like “yeaaah, I will put them on…. another day”.

But the turn x is like £200 minimum
@tomhossain2099 wait for reprints. It's not like Paul doesn't take months to make a gunpla vid as is
@@angellara7040yeah but they’re never reprinting it dawg. Not for a few years at least
@@tomhossain2099 perfect for Paul than. He'll probably put together a 30mm kit by mid 2025 and soon the new gunpla factory will be up
7:17 and still easier to read than GW sprues. Like for real who hurt the person who numbers those.
One of the hallmarks of ver Ka kits are the large amount of decals since Katoki loves adding decals to his designs. 😂
Fun video and I a, happy to hear that you are enjoying the gunpla. Also happy to see someone who shares my hatred of Astra Militarum.
I feel you so much on the runner layout issues. I recently built a 30MF Liber Knight kit and it was such a breath of fresh air, the runners snapped into numbered segments that corresponded to different parts of the body. Made organization soooooo much easier.
0:02, nice, now face the wall
Yeah you're right this wall is more interesting than imperial guard
@@PaulIsBadAtStuff :^)
It's still kinda confusing for some ppl but kits in recent year has better part separation for different runner. like for example there will be B1 and B2, while B2 is just a part of B1 so you'd know that it's like a L/R arm or leg situation just by looking at it. Of course I only build RG and HG so I'm not so sure in MGs but yeah, the technology is still evolving.
It's a modern gunpla thing if they're planning on releasing variants in the future.
they've thankfully also gotten a lot better at emptying out runners so you can just toss them aside.
That would take a considerable knowledge of the Gundam franchise and the Gunpla itself, and not all Warhammer fans know such 😂🤣
Tbh you can choose to push the flaps down to make them anime accurate or up to look cool like the mg 2.0 but they will inevitably droop down after much movement
news flash, anime accurate doesn't mean it looks good. sometimes the anime looks like shit. suck it up.
@@YTMrGoose That's why some 3rd party came up with the MG Zeta Ver. Ka chest update.
wait, they really have problem with that? I thought it look good on my build.
Also to test your feet with painting gunpla, just panel line them. Easy, quick and really does make them look extra poppy
When's the next AoS video going to come out?
Somewhere between now and the end of time
You can't hold out that long paul,
@caveychip7 That's right! You've tried Spearhead already. It's only a matter of time before my years of waiting and politely asking finally bear fruit!
Advance of Seta? Sorry, gunpla brainrot.
ill just say, the gundams look great as they are....but the transfers definatly elevate them. i dont apply all, as the ver. ka get a bit daft...but most. look cool. great video!
the idea of using the negative points of a kit to show how good it is is a really funny way of doing it, great video
7:08 sir...
Well, glad you’ve enjoyed this ZETA. I’ve built it last year, and I loved it. (And yes, that includes WATER DECALS.)
I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on "30 minute missions"
Yeah 30 minute missions is something a lot of people have mentioned and I'm looking into it!
@@traphimawari7760 I will not stand for the kotobukiya variable infinity line erasure!!
I agree about the pain of tiny pieces
I built the MG Hi-Nu Ver Ka some time ago and it had several small parts that refused to get in place
Even had a recent kit i built, the MG Exia, have its pilot figure constantly refuse to get in the cockpit as if the peg was too big for the slot
Personal opinion is that everyone in Warhammer should try at least one Entry Grade or High Grade kit. Of everyone did that, then for the price of 25-50% of an Intersessors box per person we could all collectively raise our expectations towards GWs pricing scheme 😅
On a more serious note, Gunpla is freedom.
9:25 I’d watch it XD
there are several types of decals, Stickers witch are common in HG kits all the way into PG sometimes (but not often) and are denoted by the silver sheet , decal stickers are most common in RG kits and are on a clear sheet with a white backing these you can peel off and place and then there are transfers in both dry(cut out, place and rubb/scratch on) and water types (cut out and do 40ktransfurtreetment) , if you ever get a kit with ANY coating and dry transfers DO NOT even attempt to rubb them on as this will damage the coating no matter how carefull you try not to.
I would like to say. I truly enjoy appreciate your videos and the content you do. I'm a long-time builder of gunpla and a semi recent one to warhammer.
I can actually understand what you mean about the split runners funnily enoghe! 😅
Keep doing what you do, mate! Love your videos and your viewpoints! 😁
(Ps careful on the RG Epyons backpack at the end of the build. Make sure the inner part is clicked in before you slot the cover on. Almost broke mine forcing it.😅)
if you want customization and tbh the "crack" side of Bandai's line up, try 30 Minute Missions/Fantasy/Sisters like where they can be interchangeable and compatible in some HG gundam kits including Gundam Builders Series
they also have Armored Core ones as well
welcome to the hobby : } actually gunpla is just one of the franchise in the Pla model hobby. now i want to see you tackle the Megami device / Frame arm girls from Kotobukiya :P
As a Transformers Collector I just bought my first model kit gundam. It's basically the iconic white one but repainted as optimus prime.
Yeah I actually really enjoyed building this kit and applying the decals
Gunpla recommendation "HGUC Asshimar" fully transformable kit. Only down side is the closed fists parts may need glue.
I love watching you talk about Gunpla. Maybe you can try your hand at kitbashing
If you had fun with zeta ver ka, i sanded (exterior armour) and hand painted drybrushed mine. Probably over 150 hours.
my favorite gunpla youtuber!
Got the Ver Ka. I like it, but I still got the MG 2.0 from 2005 because I have a feeling I will enjoy that kit a lot more.
1:09 made me chuckle
MG Zeta ver KA is my favorite kit. Had such a good time building it. =)
Now buy the MG Build Strike and the MG Barbatos
Looks like you love the Zeta design. There is a HG and PG Zeta too if you want to try it lol.
I got this years back, absolute nightmare to handle. I've jumped ship from gundam to the 30 minutes line. Great for kitbashing and customizing. Might be able to make a 40k dreadnought out of it
You're probably thinking about the Zeta 2.0 MG or another variant, because the Zeta Ver Ka only just released this year. Early this year, at that.
@altairofastora the rg kit?
My advice is find the cool looking stickers and go from there
well, your gunpla content is really entertaining to watch that's for sure lol
Depends on the 1/00 he gets. The Bael has a waist weaker than my will to get up in the morning
@@MegaInsaneMC Should've been Kimaris Vidar as the last line than a mediocore vanilla gundam.
The new RG Rx-78-2 2.0 is pure perfection. If you like the size of real grades I'd say its a must have.
waterslides get easier the more you do them.
Wait until you build the RG Sinanju. _Then_ you'll have something to complain about...
Those loose joints can give 30 minutes of things to complain about 😂
It's for color separation and how they form the tooling to produce less waste.
Should try the Wing Ver. Ka that thing is an absolute masterpiece (or if you are willing to spring for it MGEX strike freedom since its the best gundam kit ever made)
Try out the most recent RG kits. Some say the most recent 10 RG kits . I would say, grt the RG Sazabi, Nu Gundam, Hi Nu Gundam! These are the big chunky boys of the 1/144 line.
The perfect grade RX78-2 is fun easy-ish but take a LOT of time, like I've been doing this for 5 years and it still took me 6-7 hours. If you do it I highly recommend taking breaks
Clearly, the only appropriate course from here is the PG Zeta 😈
Oooh thanks for reminding me that I want a new gunpla, more items than I can afford or have the time to put together added to my Amazon list
So if you want another RG to try (one that isn’t massively infuriating) I’d highly recommend the Sazabi.
got jumpscared by the numbers, 228922 actually cursed me for life back in the day - 177013 was never really that bad to me having actually read it in full multiple times but im also a big fan of stuff like punpun and lily chou chou and subarashiki hibi
I lost a yellow piece of of a crossbone rg 1/144, under my desk. Somehow!!! Figured that I'd clean there some day. Didn't. I moved 3 years later and never found it. Even pulled up the carpet in that room. Nothing! Be grateful for your Master Grade and Perfect Grade.piece sizes. 😢
designs being caked in NASCAR level decals is a rather infamous trait of Ver Ka kits, also if you thought the parts on this kit is tiny, hoo boy wait until you build either the Victory or V2 Ver Kas
I heard that some people don't like the chest design which is more flat and more anime accurate, but there is a 3rd party replacement parts for that.
3 minutes and 23 secs of pure gold intro!!
I mean, see people use gunpla parts for Warhammer kitbash/ substitutes are pretty cool....that could be a cool video idea...I think....maybe...
I HIGHLY recommend the MG Barbatos. It’s an incredible kit with a gorgeous inner frame.
you should get the double zeta ver ka next! it would be the perfect duo with the zeta.
(i am definitely not biased because i the double zeta is my favorite mobile suit)
I'm waiting to see the RG Crossbone Gundam X1, the HG GFAS X1 Destroy, the PG Unicorn Gundam and the MGEX Unicorn
Bro should’ve seen the amount of stickers on the RG unicorn TWC edition , 250+ stickers on a 1/144 kit
Ironically, this is probably the best version of the Zeta model kit too.
you should try the FM 1/100 gundam aerial
MG levels of detail
above HG build but similar simplicity
personally one of my favorite kits and doesn’t carry any issues the past non-MG 1/100 scale kits
Lol yeah, I also don’t do those ver.ka style decals. After finishing, I always be so relieved…. That I do not have anymore energy for decals so I just put them in the plastic bag and be like “yeaaah, I will put them on…. another day”.
The many water slide decals really is just part of the ver. Ka kits, no need to apply them just if you want to
