I'd kinda forgotten about these boys. Really dug em about 10 yrs ago. Saw the Fall Asleep video on JUCE tv a lot, got Inland and haven't stopped listening to it AND the albums I missed. These guyz are just me
It has been a long time since I have listen to one of my favorite bands, to long guys, but then God always works in mysterious ways eh. This song is a heart storm, taking me away to that special place that only God knows in me. I needed this !!! Thx for sharing, love to see you guys play it too.
This song can speak to any sort of escapism behavior due to loneliness, sadness, frustrations, boredom, etc. When I try to ignore my fears and give in to escapism through tv, internet, or books, it doesn't satisfy. When I ask God for help, face my fears, and fulfill my responsibilities, I am much happier. Just as Jesus said, the one who tries to keep her/his life will lose it, but the one who lays down his life will actually keep it.
Kaisa Ercillo I am struggling with the loss of my daughter to cancer and my diagnosis of cancer. It's hard. This song speaks to me that I need to do better. It is a mirror of my misery.
My 25 year old son died from an accidental overdose in 2017. Aside from the fact that 90% of the album Good Monsters played out like prophecy in my son's short life, this song really hammers home in so many ways. Especially, "Tell me of the world you're leaving While you're swinging like a wrecking ball. You bury all your love in secrets And loneliness in alcohol". I don't know the personal stories of each one of the band's members but I do know that they can relate in a very, very personal level with my family's pain...and I'm grateful for that.🌌🙏🌌
Dan! I met you back in Nashville, when I was 19, you had just come from Greenville College or some like... southern Illinois...I had such an affinity with you...brotha...I've been around the world literally...but want to tell you, am called to NYC... i love who you are...brotha..
Nice lyrics The sound of television creeping through the halls Left in the wild like a tree pulled from the dirt You fill the sky with burning arrows from your heart Throw your bottles out to sea and watch them float away Tell me of the world you’re leaving While you’re swinging like a wrecking ball You bury all your love in secrets And loneliness in alcohol Hide your diamonds in the dirt in careful rows Let your doubt unravel all their, all their pretty bows ‘Cause your heart is broken by the things you love And your light, it carries but it’s not enough to change the weather Tell me of the world you’re leaving While you’re swinging like a wrecking ball Bury all your love in secrets And loneliness in alcohol You get buried under all these lines, all this light, all these lies You get buried under all these lines, all this light, all the time Tell me of the world you’re leaving While you’re swinging like a wrecking ball Bury all your love in secrets And loneliness in alcohol Tell me of the world you’re leaving While you’re swinging like a wrecking ball Bury all your love in secrets And loneliness in alcohol
Has the line up of individuals changed? If so, when? ..and who's who? I remember chatting to a band member at a festival in the UK who was looking for the other band members; I didn't let on I knew who he was, no fuss.. ..he was nice though! 😊😉🥰
seems like a response to Miley Cyrus's Wrecking ball... ha... good song. Tell me of the world you’re leaving While you’re swinging like a wrecking ball You bury all your love in secrets And loneliness in alcohol
I'm sorry for offending you with my earlier comment. Please forgive me. I just don't understand why they would even sing about Alcohol ... I've seen some people struggle with that addiction so I'm sad they would even encourage it.
So many of JOC's songs have a poetic bent to them. Alcohol seems like a fitting substitute for any one of a hundred places we go to hide when we can't deal with life. Seems like something the Spirit of God would do, like the parables Jesus told.
I'm an alcoholic, it is lonely, even after being sober for years. Thanks for writing this song.
Hang in there, John.
I congratulate you staying sober. I am sober from 2011. In the beginning it is lonely but it gets better and better.
This band has been great for over a decade.
Keep it up JOC
Just a decade? I started listening to them in 1997 at the age of 11.
3 decades of awesomeness.
Thank You Lord Jesus for You delivered us from the kingdom of darkness to the Kingdom of Light
For this is what you once were, you are a new creation. He who trusts in himself is a fool, but he who lives by wisdom will escape.
Your heart is broken by the things you love such great line
+hensly77 Yes it really is!!
he's not wrong
Saw them in 97. Still very much relevant today...
This acoustic version is awesome. Love this song. Love JOC.
I’ve loved this band for what seems to be an eternity. Lyrics beyond compare and the musicianship is unbelievable.💙🙏🏻
This is such a beautiful song!!

Like for the Arsenal shirt!
Que BONITO
🎉😊🎉❤
Letting go isn't necessarily the answer because it's not always pain. It's just a cover or having a good time.
He's not encouraging drinking he's probably talking about the people who struggle with it
I think he's singing about his Dad.
seems like a response to Miley Cyrus's Wrecking ball... ha... good song.

I agree! I hope Miley Cyrus finds Salvation through Jesus Christ.
They are literally called Stomp Boxes.
I think he's singing about his Dad.

Paul talked about drunkards in his books. Might be by the same with Jars...
Sparkle Prairie Creek Farm it speaks to me. Makes me want to quit and find a better way to be happy. The song is just honest.

Used to be a fan of this band, but Arsenal fan...really? JOC just lost a fan.
