I've been a Rangers fan for over 50 years. I love Igor and Hank and the effort they've given the team just as much as any player. That said, we've seen this movie played out before with Hank. Jordan Binnington, Aiden Hill, Darcy Kuemper, Matt Murrary, Braden Holtby, etc are all cup champs on teams that used their cap space to add as much forward depth especially at center and get the best 2 way puck moving defenceman they could instead of having a franchise goalie eating their cap and struggling to build around them. There's a reason why we have 1 cup in 80 + years. We keep trying to do the same thing over and over. Pre salary cap....we'd give the money bags to old washed up stars from other teams. Post salary cap giving goalies the money bags and can't build a good enough team around them because until recently we weren't deveoping our own draft picks. If we do win a cup this year I'm sure Igor will be a huge part of that and then I'm all for paying him. If we don't win then how are we going to win when we can't get good enough players around Igor when his cap is only 5.56 mil? Be even harder at 12+ mil. I still love Igor, and players like anyone have a right to get as much money as they can so I have no ill will against him; he's free to walk next off season. I just want players that want to win more than getting paid on my team. Once they win, then get paid. Just my opinion, I respect those that feel the opposite . It's just sports. LGR!

Thought the same thing. If anyone could have used an opening night goal, it was Kakko. Still a solid game for him though.

I was kind of put off when I first heard what Igor did but...in the end, he's worth every penny. MAKE THE DEAL.
In terms of pure fun as a fan, this game was definitely in my top 20. Pens fans, maybe don’t chant Igor anymore🤣

I've seen people make this argument, but I don't really think it's relevant since that's just the nature of the goalie position. It's like saying a starting pitcher should make one-fifth as much as hitters because they only pitch once every five games
But McDavid as a forward plays 20 to 24 minutes of a regular game. Igor plays 60 minutes of the 67% of the season that he plays. Apples and Oranges, my friend.

Fair enough, although there is no salary cap in baseball.
IMHO opinion I believe if Shesty would have accepted that offer that it would turn out to be a disaster and if the Rangers up their offer it will be that much worse.
But hey what the hell do I know?
