The industry has colluded to supress wages for decades. In addition to that there is no off ramp, where do you go when your pushing sixty and can no longer do the physically demanding work? Employers dont care when you can no longer perform they put you out to pasture.

I’ve been in the diesel tech world since 2010. O boy is a rough business, warranty times, ever changing system, every manufacturer use different softwares, modules, programs and warranty standards. The pay is joke compared to tech workers.

Been a Diesel mechanic 22 years. Don’t expect to get promoted. You might be lucky. Most shops have eliminated shop foreman. They cheat and use shop manager only and a new position is called a Lead. It’s a Foreman job minus the supervisor title and perks. I am 48 and still work in the floor all day long. With the shortage. Regardless of skill. You do tires, brakes etc. When I first started. The old timers did the gravy work.

This gave me no motivation. I was expecting to hear of a pay range to motivate me. I guess nothing has changed. When I was a mechanic. Your hours were based on book. Book is not always right. Many jobs only pay half of your hourly rate. I was pushed to sell lies. I hustled my butt off, but my checks were always weak so I left the industry for construction.

The music in between is much louder than the dialog.

Its no one’s responsibility to motivate you. Thats on you but seems like you fail at that too

You took this out of context. The vid is trying to get people to turn wrenches. They dont tell you the pay cuz the pay is crap. You spend half of on tools. I used to do this for a living. Best choice I made was leaving this job. When I need something fixed it is crazy how little the the local shops know.
You failed. And to imply too as in also you are implying I failed at more than one thing. You must be a Biden supporter.

The trade has changed along with the technology both tools wise and software, with that being said flat rate is still used and seen, hourly is starting to take over as opposed to flat rate, and lastly you find few who do piece work. With that being said pay ranges from as low as $15/hr.-$56/hr. (Here in Oregon) depending obviously on experience, type of equipment, and where your trying to gain employment at. But as someone previously stated if motivation is from an external source and not within then you need do some soul searching to find what truly motivates you. Best of luck man!

@@adlerchavez2180 not sure why you guys are taking us out of context. I have a good job but I'm always looking for better. I was one of the fastest wrench turners around. The only thing that motivates me is money.

What are you doing now? I’m a machinist and work on my own motorcycles. I’m trying to figure out which way to go. I’m 27 so I feel like I’m running out of time.
