I love how small the venue is, this footage just feels so personal, like you’re actually in the audience. The energy, the noise, and Kurt’s voice cutting through it all.
I grew up in Connecticut and The Moon was pretty much the best live music club around. My friends musta played there a dozen times. I can imagine Kurt felt at home in the environment.

I was watching some random movie and heard the original, remembered this, stopped the flick and had to check it out. What a great live cover. How can you miss a band you never got to see so much?
My first apartment after I graduated from Quinnipiac was right across the street from the Moon. My friends and I were there 2-3 times a week, it was such a great alternative to the other bars/clubs in New Haven. It pains me to this day we didn't go this particular night. At least I got to see them in Springfield, MA with the Breeders
I was a Moon regular too! I grew up in Fairfield, Ct. and moved to NYC at 20. Yeah, but whenever my childhood friends (now grown up) were playing The Moon in the early 90's, I'd be there. I'd take the train outta Grand Central and be in New Haven 2 hours later.
I was at this show and then you posted the video and I couldn’t believe you were recording it. Thank you 😊 so much for capturing my memories from that night that two weeks later they would become the biggest band of the 90’s and I remember saying that drummer is going to be bigger then the band it was definitely a psychic vision I was thinking through out the entire show. And then they all came true. I am definitely grateful that you recorded this and I thank you 🙏 from the depths of my soul. God bless you and your family now and forever ♾ to everyone. Kurt could have just stood on stage and let out one continued scream and the crowd would have still gone mental!!! What a fucking legend he was....still is....but let's not forget Kris and Dave either..... awesome!
To be fair, his audience was always a fun one. All punk fans want is energy and excitement and as long as you're providing it (which Nirvana always did) the crowd will go wild.
What's crazy is I was wondering if Kurt ever loved The Velvet Underground as I always thought of them as the greatest American rock and roll band ever. To know they, Nirvana (the best grunge band ever), actually covered a song by them says enough! So awesome...

@boriasdcarmine Was The Moon on Whalley Ave right at Norton St? It was a tiny little club. I used to go there to see hardcore and ska shows. Actually, the very first concert I ever played was at The Moon. I was in JC Superska and I think we played with Spring Heeled Jack that night. I saw New York Citizens play there about a dozen times. Good club. Never was a bad vibe. I remember Nirvana coming through.

It’s amazing when nirvana covers a song, and you listen to it a few times, it feels like it was their song all along.
yeah yeah yeah.... right ) i love u
Like The man Who sold the world
Nirvana and The Doors are the best at covering songs and making it theirs.

And it's such a great performance. I love Lou Reed and the velvets, but I'd rather hear Kurt blow it away
Thousands of fans would give left nut to be there . Like that old nirvana show is Austria I watch that wow
I think this is one of my favorite nirvana shows. They were all into it and passionate, having fun and rocking out

We're now further away in time from this performance than Nirvana was from the original recording of the song by the VU.
Time for a new cover. But who could we nominate for the job?

agreeee
definitely an underrated cover, most likely because kurts vocals are kinda shit until he starts screaming , but not the GREATEST cover
The greatest cover is Hendrix doing All Along The Watchtower.
This is still awesome tho
please listen to the galaxie 500 cover of the same song
