OH MY GOD i almost broke into tears during chem class because i understood NOTHING! this video literally made me cry tears of joy because it was so helpful and more understanding, its like midnight and i don´t care about being tired tomorrow, at least i can sleep in peace being less stress in chem. Thank you so much, your videos are seriously helpful especially cause i have to reteach myself chem class lessons because my teacher is too confusing. again THANK YOU SO much!!! your a chem saver!
I came here more than a year ago when my teacher didn't know how to explain anything. I'm here again for a refresher; this video really makes everything clear. Thank you!
THANK YOU for the drawings and analogies, I've been struggling for so long to understand something that now seems so simple, just divisions with divisions and subdivisions.
Thank you i tried to understand during class and was lost, i tried to reteach myself from the book and was still lost, i finally understand it with your video. U broke it down and made it super simple with the analogy. Ty ty ty! 💕
Thank you so much. My teacher talks so fast and is terrible at explaining stuff in general. I looked for a UA-cam video since the textbooks did me no good but all of them were so long and over complicated. I generally thought there was no hope till I found this video. You are the best at explaining words cannot describe how much you’ve made my life easier.
Reviewing chemistry quiz questions that were troublesome for me for my upcoming final. I really appreciated this video. The hotel room analogy is a great way to remember this. Thank you for taking the time to make this video.
THANK YOU!! I've been driving myself insane trying to figure out what an Energy shell was, or an orbital and all. It just wasn't clicking, but I watched this a few times and it finally made sense. SO thank you!
Hello Kritin you are correct the capacity of each shell becomes more complex with the addition of more sublevels - the important thing to note is that most of the outer most energy levels can hold up to 8. the noble gases are the only family that actually have 8 in their outer most energy level though.
+Sonya Birazian Honestly, Thank you the way yous explained with analogies Can't say thanks enough please also explain delocalization, concept of energy and lewis dot structure because i have feeling I might understand every topic of orgo if u explained it plz plz do reply
Sonya Birazian i was just a bit unsure because thats what the teacher in my class said about the subshell so i just got a little confused. Thank you so much for all your videos they are the best ones on youtube really clear an easy to understand i really like the way you explain things it helps so much :)
Thank You SSOSOSSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSSOOSOSSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!
I have my As level exam in January and it just helped me finish my last minute preparations. Many thanks to you as you saved my ass with such an amazing tutorial!!
I still can't believe I found this video. Very great and simple explanation. Now, I can explain my poor friends about the energy levels, the sub levels and the orbitals of the atoms. I'll just show them your video!!!
I had to review my orbitals and electron configurations for semi conductor physics and honestly I wish I saw this video when I was in my first year of college. Very precise and clear explanations and I LOVEEEE the pyramid!!
this might seem a bit overly-simplified when you see it after watching other videos, but honestly it is absolutely amazing! there is no need to complicate things at the beginning. This helped me understand soooo well, thank you so much!!
but i have a question. You said in the beginning that all the orbitals outside the first one can hold upto 8 electrons then you yourself negated that indirectly when you showed the great hotel example where the third floor could hold up to 18 electrons and the fourth could hold up to 32. please explain this.
Sonya you are more than amazing! thanks a lot!!! I actually read about this in a book, and I almost decided to just close the book and not study for the test next tweek, untill I saw this video..:)
Thank you for explaining this. The only youtube video I have found so far that explains it extremely well. I have had trouble understanding this and this video has made me understand sublevels, energy levels and orbitals.
I really enjoyed the video! I started reviewing chemistry for PCAT test, so I completely forgot it. And when I went back to textbook, I was just reading and starring at it for 5 hours... Couldn't understand it. Well I am glad I bumped into your video!! Can't wait to watch more or them to study and refresh my memory
I know this video is old, but THANK YOU!! I recently enrolled in college, after being out of high school since 1993 and for the love of Cain I could not figure this out until I found you! LOL.

10/10 excellent analogies. The hotel one is already stuck in my head. Thank you sonya.
I loved that triangular setup you used to explain. I finally have a mnemonic for this organization. Thanks, Sonya.
You propelled human virtue to a new level! You explained such complex issues so well! Thank you very much
you deserve to go to heaven
lol an understatement
No.
I really appreciate this video. Your organization and explanations are great!!!
Such a fantastic video. Can't thank you enough.

Hey there i really like the video and they way you explain its really helping me out a lot, i was just wondering is a sublevel also called a subshell?
a "shell" is another name used for an energy level- so a sublevel might be called a subshell
Sonya Birazian i was just a bit unsure because thats what the teacher in my class said about the subshell so i just got a little confused. Thank you so much for all your videos they are the best ones on youtube really clear an easy to understand i really like the way you explain things it helps so much :)
Sometimes, atoms beyond the 2 orbital will hold more than 8 in a molecule. Not a single atom however. Just 8. I think that's right.
Amazing!!!!! Thank you so much.
Thank You SSOSOSSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSSOOSOSSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!

Here again visiting you to watch this video for my other son.
You are genius, ma'am. Amazing.
I had to review my orbitals and electron configurations for semi conductor physics and honestly I wish I saw this video when I was in my first year of college. Very precise and clear explanations and I LOVEEEE the pyramid!!
