I bought my first new generation large Cold Steel Voyager because of Nutn's earlier review. I couldn't agree with him more. Great knives for the money. Great knives, even if they were more expensive as well. Buy them. You will love them. THANKS NUTNFANCY!

In regards to the traction underneath the pocket clip, I solved that problem in a more amateur way than even sanding the G-10 scales. On my Cold Steel folders, I simply take a flat head screwdriver and bend the clip upwards slightly, reducing friction on my pants pocket.
I've been edcing the entire family of recons for a year now. Awesome work blades. The micros are great for tasks in public sensitive areas. I rotate the recons with my rat 1 family and cara cara 2's. Great review.
I don't ever make it through an entire KRV. I have to pause and switch over to eBay and other resources to see how much I'm going to have to charge to my cc.

Because you were very clear and concise in going over the points, and you provided information I wanted to know, all without running twenty minutes or longer. I support Lynn Thompson and the CSK line. Some outstanding knives that you're going to use, not hide away. Mr. Thompson IS an American Patriot, and if you get the chance to watch his "Never Unarmed" DVD series, it's awesome!
Major props to Cold Steel for taking a great blade design and giving it max variety with blade sizes and styles. It's strange that few manufacturers will actually do that with their own patented designs. Anyway, thanks for the great review Nutn
Volcano issues are what he refers to when it comes to a thumb stud on a blade that is volcano shaped and tapers up very small at the top. Some of the more expensive cold steel knives have this like the black talon or some of their san mai 3 folders.
Hey hunters, the recon1 micro is a primo small game skinner, the the standard recon1 is a beast of an elk cleaner. Love the vid Nutn glad to seem them back!!

Haha. I did it. Got the Benchmade Mini Griptilian in Sand/Black blade combo edge w/thumb hole. Then bought the CRKT M21-14DSFG, a CRKT Ignitor T plain edge, a Ontario Rat-1 Tan/Black blade combo edge, a Kershaw Skyline Black/Satin blade, and 2 Kershaw Skyline Brown/Black blade knives. Decided to just get all the knives Ive been eyeing up for awhile.
Great to hear! Yeah it Rock Creek. I have there Nyala which I have not seen for sale in a long time. I love it, the steel in the blade is a bit of a weird one. It has never rusted or even got hazy on me, it holds an edge like AUS-8 or 8Cr13MoV, and I can not tell how easy it is to sharpen because it is a thick edge on the Nyala which I am not used to. Tell me if you get one!
I picked up the CSRecon1 in spear point a little while back. When I did, I saw the smaller versions and almost got the 3" one. For what ever reason, I'm into the bigger blades for EDC right now so I didn't bother. Looks like I'm going to have to pick them up now. Damn nutnfancy draining my wallet again.
I checked these out at the local Sportsmart. When I picked up the knife I felt around and said, in a Nutnfancy voice "no jimping!" The guy behind the counter looked really confused.
Nutn, can I suggest an update on the recon series with the cts-xhp steel and dlc coating? These two improvements have pushed the recon series way out front for me. For under a hundred bucks what else is that thin, light and strong?........nutn!
I did noticed the difference between real G10 and the faux G10. I think it still provides a lot of grip, but it's not as "sticky" as real G10. I suggested to Cold Steel that they try putting a smaller checkering pattern on it

I have 2 Recon 1's and 2 Spyder Co Police models because of TNP and I love them! Now I just need to find someone who can sharpen them.. I wear these things out every few years and I lack the skill to sharpen them myself. No one I know of in my local area who could sharpen these knives.
Love my CS Ak-47, its a tough sumbitch and really locks into your hand. Those tiny Recon 1 blades look actually quite useful for use where a full size blade would be... "scary" to others
Nutn- check out the Cold Steel Tuff Lite and Tuff Lite Mini.. GREAT knives, extremely light weight, and SHARPER than a razor blade straight out of the box.. I work in an underground mine, and I use the Tuff Lite for my work blade.. It's survived me when many others have failed, in wet, dusty, nasty conditions while using it for some wicked cutting tasks!!!
Cool additions to the Recon line. Cold Steel is also standing up for the 2nd Amendment. I just bought one of their knives (medium Espada) as a thank you. Imagine that - a knife company doing more than most gun retailers and manufacturers... Lynn Thompson not only understands that knife guys are gun guys, but is willing to put his name on the line to support freedom.

The mini Recon is a little too spendy for what you are getting, in my view, as you can get a 5.5" Voyager with the same steel and the same tri-ad lock for several bucks less - though the Voyager does not have G10. But even though I say they are too spendy, I will almost certainly get one, so by that definition they are not overpriced I guess. Rock on.
I've been looking for a little blade for going back to college so I don't carry my Kershaw Blur to class. That Mirco is exactly what I've been looking for and I just ordered one from a dealer through Amazon for $23 including shipping.
i found myself going back to my recon 1 over my buck vantage pro, i love the vantage but the s30v honestly doesnt seem that great. My recon1 as been through alot, completely worn off coating so i sanded the rest off, slight blade play tho ive taken down 3 small trees with it that needed to be removed. By far the best knife ive ever owned/handled
Damn, I want one. I have absolutely no need for another EDC knife but I still want one. Oh well, it's only money. I don't know why CS won't improve their pocket clips.
I wish the tang wasn't exposed on the Mini Recon and the American Lawman. Aside from that, these knives are seriously excellent, extremely hard use folders for bargain prices. My Recon 1 will take anything my Para 2 will, and the ergos are great.

And coming from Cold Steel in 2013 is the Recon 1 extra large, with 5 1/2 blade, same size as the Voyager XL.

I want about 10 or more micros just so i can have that capable cutting power everywhere... Clip them to keys, backpacks, and give them to friends!
