Ah yes, Bean man, better known as "Beanie Meanie" officially these days. One of my favorite plant family monsters in the series, although, his undead counterpart from Dark Prince "Soy Soldier" is also pretty good.
The Small fry has pretty weird and random lore on a game by game basis: In most games, they are actually the baby versions of the Great Dragons, (funny thing is, both Small Fry and Great Dragons debuted together in the same game: Dragon Quest V) but some games instead make them unrelated dragons who are just so small that people think they are babies. Personally, i subscribe to the "baby great dragon" lore a lot more, since the two species not only have several similar aspects, even the same color scheme, but again, were both made in the same game.
Really wish it was localized before the english fan translation came out, but the "beast from the sea", the only unlocalized "regional giant" of this game at the time, would be officially localized a few years later via a mobile game, with the pretty cool name of "Leviathanatos"
The ragged reaper's appearance in this game is unfortunately a bit disappointing to me, a ragged reaper fan. In their original game: DQ9, the ragged reaper had unique animations of staying deathly still, scythe behind their back, and their head usually twitching, if i remember right, but in a rare instance for this game, instead of recreating its original animation set, they instead just overlayed its model onto the heedoo voodoo's animation set.
