Our 22 year old boarder collie passed two days ago, peacefully and this was hard to watch after Margo leaned into her, A common protective and loving on guard position our boy Keep did often. May your life be filled with all the joy and love your hearts can take....and don't feed him kibble, he will live much longer with less health issues.
@micheleamisonfellezs293 It's lovely to read your words about your elderly boy Keep. What a remarkable age - two decades plus two years with you. May the memories follow you gently🌈
@@Silkytoaster We did alot of research and his diet changed over the years but basically alot of fish, chicken, beef for variety, thai rice not alot like a quarter cup ever few days, pumpkin, vegetables... we were shocked how he loved carrots & brocolli.. i sprinkled organic hemp seeds & nutritional yeast a few times a week. You will need to look at your dogs age, health needs and take it from there... also Fresh clean water - cleaned and refilled his bowl every morning and late afternoon. Look up what your pet cant have first and always check ingredients if your adding in a packaged gravy... like onions.. not good.. spinach.. not good. Oh and he loved his one egg a day any way he could get it and we used Organic Olive Oil if we fried anything and then diced it up. Hope this helps and good luck it is fun and of course mind the treats, I used almost exclusively from Rocky Kanaka, the pet Baker guy who also does rescues.
What part of border collies being working dogs do people not understand? These dogs were bred to work from sun up to sun down. They are not couch potatoes!
I still miss my Kobe that’s been gone for about 6 years. I adopted him at a pet store from a local shelter event. We were there at the end and he was only one of 3 dogs left. I fell in love with him at first sight. I was in my early 40s and very active. I taught him to catch a frisbee, jump through hoops and anything else I could think of. UA-cam wasn’t a thing back then. He lived a healthy life of 15 years with me. I still miss him.
@@mominthe209 Sounds like you were able to give your dear Kobe the very best of a dog's life that he needed. A beautiful story after a very shaky start for your mister 🦴
Everyone wants a border collie (or a Husky), but many people don't realise that these two breeds are among the most high-maintenance dogs. They require huge amounts of time and effort, to be truly happy and well-behaved. And if they are not happy, or bored, you will surely notice.
It's a perfect match because this lovely couple is willing to fulfill Margot's exercise needs. Playing fetch tires them out quicker than a walk, I find. Take two balls. After they get the first ball and refuse to drop it for you, you show her the second ball. She'll drop the first one and go after the second one. This is what I do with my border collie. They're not retrievers. :)
The famous "I'm not giving it back" border collie habit. I have two border collies. I take three Frisbee, four balls and three sticks out to play. It's the only way to get them to let go of the one they got. Lol I love these dogs.
She is a working dog a Border Collie, highly intelligent excellent at herding ,obedience and agility. Needs two good hours noyhng less, Needs totally committed owners, and lots of interaction obedience, run, swim, play. Hope it works out for her❤ Great dogs with a bit of work and time to settle.
Some people are so stupid and thoughtless. The person that bred that Collie, then sold it to an inexperienced person. My god... poor dog. She needs to be on a farm, working, and doing what Border Collies are bred to do - look after livestock!!!
I think she just didn't know Border Collies needs because she was very sad to leave her. 😢 I love seeing these dogs on working farms because they look so happy and fulfilled. My friends (not on a farm) had one and she had the cutest, funniest stories to share about Teddie. They seem so lovable and entertaining. ❤
Border collies are my favourite breed but you have to understand they are high energy and super smart dogs. The Border terrier 😍is my all time favourite small dog breed high energy very smart and personality plus- less people pleasing then the BC though🤣 but such fun little dogs
It doesn’t seem that people are looking up the different breeds at all. A border collie for an elderly person and not getting walks at all..?!. I mean you don’t get someone a dog unless they can at least exercise the dog.
Sometimes it's whats best for the dog thought. In those cases it's selfish to keep them "just" because it's hard on the owner. The most loving thing is to make sure they end up with people who can take care of them properly

I am sorry to hear about your boarder collie
What did you feed him.
I'm sure you'll come to understand that she will never leave you. Love lives on.

You got a BORDER COLLIE to be companion to an elderly person?! Wow. That's just... wow.
My thoughts exactly.
What part of border collies being working dogs do people not understand? These dogs were bred to work from sun up to sun down. They are not couch potatoes!
Too many people get dogs just for their looks and totally disregard their breeds.
Basset Hound would’ve been ideal.
Indeed, wow. That's how I got my second rescued BC, Henry. My first rescued BC was also named Margot.
The next time you ask someone when they're having kids, remember that about 15% of couples aren't able to.
And also that not everyone wants them and that no kids is the default. It's a choice to have, not to avoid.

Margo is gorgeous and her new family are lovely.
My niece has a border collies and 2 aussie shepherds. She has them doing all kinds of "dog sports" and agility training.
Brilliant collie, needs lots of play she seems a very happy girl

Wise counsel!
I had to check to make sure this wasn’t my comment lol, apparently border collies are predictable 😂

A Lovely couple and stunning dog. Perhaps Margot will take away the stress and frustration they have been suffering and the family will grow.

Border collies were bred for the longest time to herd sheep. Thats it....

It’s infuriating and depressing in equal measure. Just do the TINIEST bit of research, it’s a living being for heck’s sake.
I could never give up a dog that’s just me
@DonnaGray-fk5bf You likely wouldn't have got your relatively immobile mum a collie breed either. That mum needed a lap dog.

Did mum even want a dog? Sometimes family members have good intentions but no clue!
Won't be long and urs will hear the sound of joy.. just not from Ur fur baby
