didn't look so bad until you put a straight edge on it. you put a lot of work into this straightening. wanting something nice provided you with great motivation.

Yep harder to see by the naked eye, but when you are forging it makes a huge difference, lots harder to make tapers or even forgings with that hollow hiding in there. So much better now with it straightened out.

Lol a long process Tony. Just trying to get a few things in place, then will be booking the next trip over. Will be swinging past James Ang Ang’s place again as we need to take care of Bacon while there.
You have a blessed week mate biggest weekend of the year is coming.

lol Carpenter who has straighten more walls than most people have had hot dinners. Straightening is the same style of process, metal or timber

Really nice job, was wondering how long it would be before you brought out the belt sander! Unusual anvil with the big hole in the horn step!

Thanks Paul, the belt sander is a lot slower so doesn’t work as well on the ceramic belt, but does work well for flattening the top. From what I have read the hole in the cutting deck is to have a replaceable plate in there.

Cool! I've always wondered if this could be done. Too many hours watching anvils drop on Wile E Coyote, I suppose 🤣

Lol they are a little more expensive when not from Acme🤣. A lot of people don’t like to alter the face on them because of the age with one like mine, it would be an antique, but because it is a tool that I use not a garden ornament I much prefer to bring her back into good working order.

End result looks great, how often would one have to do this to an anvil?
