Hello there Bo. Heat or no heat you are looking slick as ever. Real quickly I saw Robert Flack at Atlantic Records 40th Anniversary Show at Madison Square Garden. You would have loved that show. The Rascals, Yes, Vanilla Fudge, CSN, Roberta Flack, Zeppelin, Genesis, Blues Brothers {Jim Belushi and Dan Aykroyd}, The Coasters, Bee Gees, The MG's, Wilson Pickett, Average White Band, Phil Collins, etc.. It started at 11:00 am and ended at 2:00 am the next day. Sitting in the Garden for all of those hours got a little tiring but the music kept you going. This was definitely a show that I know you would have loved Bo. Man you showed some gems. Curtis, Aretha, Otis, Curtis, Dusty, Al, Marvin, Ike/Tina, etc... We only have to write their first names and everyone knows who they are. Iconic artists. Excellent albums. Class A top notch showings Bo~ Rob/Boston
Paneeks1960 {Rob/Boston} what a great point Rob. First names is all that’s needed. We know who they are. That concert sounds amazing. Worth the grind. Thanks for the compliment too.
Hi there Bo, So good to see Dapper Bo again. I absolutely adore that Roberta Flack. First Time Ever I saw your face has to be one of the most beautiful EVER. Dusty and Memphis and marriage made in heaven. Son of the Preacher man is exquisite. Curtis for me... People Get Ready is a go-to song and love Jeff Beck and Rod Stewart's rendering of it. ARETHA... I mean is there a better singer to ever walk this beautiful green Earth. Bill Withers... another sublime singer. Otis is awesome. Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay.... may be THE best song about doing NOTHING haha. Marvin Gaye, What's Going on is my favorite of all and still so very poignant. Also the Ecology. Such, vital music and lyrics. Al Green. Your selection is SPOT ON for me. Could not have chosen a better selection. God bless and keep well, Tino
Tino Stabile thanks Tino. My new motto is dress better, feel better. It was a tough call to go with Otis blue, but in the end I spin it more often than dock of the bay. By a fraction. Curtis ended up on my lust twice. What a talent. But to me? The epitome? Sam Cooke. They call him mr soul for a reason.
"Soul music is soul music" - Amen Bo. Love seeing Dusty there, deservedly so. River Deep is an incredible single, love seeing that album. Gaye, Otis, Mayfield, yes yes yes. And Sam👌Loving seeing the original presses here, Bo. This top 10 was distilled and matured like a fine fine whiskey🥃 tastes damn wonderful. Cheers!
Hello Bo; Like the background display with Albert King Born Under a Bad Sign & Nina Simone Sings the Blues. Agree with all the picks. Some classic Soul records. Dusty, Aretha, Bill Withers, The Impressions, Ike & Tina, Otis, Marvin's What's Going On ( good concept LP) Al Green & Sam Cooke are all good ones to have. Good video. Take care. Tina & Pat!~
Tina Ferrazzoli hi guys. Tina is such an icon. I know they were tumultuous years but her years with Ike produced so many great songs. I hope I gave dusty enough credit here. I feel like I shortchanged her a bit.
Fantastic choices Bo, soul is a genre that’s very near and dear to my heart. Otis Blue is one of the very greatest. Curtis mayfield is a genius and what’s goin on continues to delight forever. Thanks for sharing
BLind IsLind I’ve been a soul fan back to my childhood but my collection is sorely lacking. Trying to rectify that now. Otsu blue, such a monster. Marvins what’s going on is soul with a conscience.
The Drifters, The Temptations and The Four Tops. The Trinity.... The Impressions work along with Curtis of course. All nice choices Bo... For me the genre died after William Devaughn's "Be Thankful For What You Got" and I used to be a huge fan as everybody else here in Toronto.
Bobby Gass 5 nice additions Bobby. Anytime we squeeze a list down to a few favorites somebody gets cut. I really like listening to the soul channel, number 49, on Sirius.
Can you believe I’ve never spun a Roberts Flack record? Am I missing out? I just picked up that Ike and Tina a week or two ago. I love them. It’s funny. I had just recently spun Let’s Stay Together and two nights ago was spinning What’s Going On. A great list you have there. You know how I feel about my soul brothers and sisters. I was having a conversation with a good friend of mine quite a while ago about the Beatles and the Stones. He’s a monsterous Beatles fan so we were spinning some tunes by them. Then I played him “Ive got the blues” by the Stones. And I said to him, “this is why I love the stones, they just have way more soul than the Beatles. The Beatles had no soul.” Great artist but lacking the soul. Anyway, great to see you Bo. Take care, Brian🍀
Shamrock'n Records hi Brian. Oh the Stones have it in spades over the Beatles. Missing out on Roberta Flack? Imho, yes. Her vocals are sublime. The lyrics are powerful, wrought full of emotion. Plus? Her albums are always cheap.
Eric Weinbender soul in any condition is tough out here. Sam on cassette? Cool. My 2002 Ford Escort was the last year they put a cassette player in the car.
I was just playing that Roberta Flack album and she is quietly soulful. I also love The Impressions doing "For Your Precious Love" with Jerry Butler on lead vocal. Great selection except I would have to have James Carr and Bobby Bland as well. Take care.
Hi Bo or a good morning to yee, .......diggin the bow ties👌🏻👌🏻Roberta 🥰Dusty, heck yea! Impressions✊🏻, that’s a great Bill Withers album yeah grandmas hands 👌🏻....good desert wax here....I came for the bow tie stayed for the music lol....take care Bo - Lis Sam Cooke middle of the road??? who are they Bo? I’m gonna pop em one 🤪😡🤬
L. E. I think many people feel that Sam is a better live. That, like the Yardbirds, his albums don’t really have an album feel, but a single or two surrounded by filler. But his singles? Powerful. Thanks for the kind words.
Great list Bo! All killers, no fillers... Love Roberta Flack's First Take; an amazing album. Thanks for sharing my friend :-)
Miss LadySoul hi eve. Thought this might be up your alley. My soul collection is small but growing.

Grandma's Handbag a fine whiskey? High praise indeed Dean. Now I quit cigarettes many years ago, but a fine cigar and a glass of whiskey sounds nice.
You def riding on the Soul Train with this one Bo. Enjoyed! Andre’
Linda Leg thanks André. I remember Walter Payton was on soul train once or twice.
The Impressions...one of my dad’s all time favorite!!!!
Vinyl Talk With Tavis anything Curtis mayfield touched was gold. Imho. Your dad has great taste. As do you kind sir.

I do love that Dusty album (and am thankful you gave a copy to me). Hell, I love all these albums.
dixielandfarm you’re right. Soul is where it’s at my friend.
Great list Bo
Brody Atwood just a little something I threw together.
The Drifters, The Temptations and The Four Tops. The Trinity.... The Impressions work along with Curtis of course. All nice choices Bo... For me the genre died after William Devaughn's "Be Thankful For What You Got" and I used to be a huge fan as everybody else here in Toronto.

Solid ass list. All classics.
The Vinyl Guru well I learned from the best.

Superb taste Brother!
Stoner's Stashbox thank you kind sir.
Always wanted a Stax pressing of that Albert King LP behind you but I never found an affordable copy. Ended up buying an Atlantic pressing.
33RPMVinyl it was vclt from a former vc member (still miss brother Jerry)
Clean Soul is a tough find in my parts. That Curtid is a must. I still listen to my childhood Sam Cooke cassettes.
Peace, Love, and Soul 🚂
Eric Weinbender soul in any condition is tough out here. Sam on cassette? Cool. My 2002 Ford Escort was the last year they put a cassette player in the car.
Was it a ZX2?
Eric Weinbender it is. I still own it. But it’s no longer a reliable driver
I was just playing that Roberta Flack album and she is quietly soulful. I also love The Impressions doing "For Your Precious Love" with Jerry Butler on lead vocal. Great selection except I would have to have James Carr and Bobby Bland as well. Take care.
Randall Nelson Carr and Bland are excellent choices. That Flack record is so lovely. So much meaning and feeling.

Earhead Six ooooooo now that makes sense Bo, I didn’t look at it like that....
