I love the Salvage gameplay. If I have the time, I'll claim a Hammerhead for 50k. Take the Cutty & load up any cargo & all 24 guns. The guns normally sell for 2k a piece so you've pretty much paid for the claim, just on guns (48k). The cargo is random but I've easily made another 10k on that. Then grab the Vulture to scrape. I only use the Cinch beam & normally get another 150k minimum for the salvage. Definitely use the salvage head in gimble mode with mouse & don't start scraping again after the ejection until it shows "0.0 / 1.0 SCU". The job normally takes a couple of hours. Nice chill time 🙂
Great Vid BTW and I do enjoy your reviews of ships :) I had a Vulture for a while..It is a nice ship but it is only a stop to my CCU chain for a Reclaimer. Even though the Vulture has a few bugs I really wish the Cargo was longer itself to hold more (yes I know it can hold more than the 12SCU) cause when you do mission you can take the weapons off and..sometimes there just isnt that much room. Also be nice to have the WHOLE bottom of the cargo bay as a grid in my opinion.
Great video. Thanks. Would have been almost perfect if you had mentioned the keypresses - There doesn't seem to be a tutorial that says Salvagers use the Mining key (M) and that you switch between types with a right mouse click. G key for Gimbal also helps a lot.
I was waiting!! j/k You always do these types of videos very well. I enjoy them!! :D ... and I don't know for sure, but I always stop the beam when the box is being ejected. I did some testing in PTU and it appeard that anything you salvaged when the box was being ejected was lost. I haven't tested this in LIVE.
Doesn't work for me, I think because of a combination of how my keybinds are set up along with head tracking. I think right at the start you can see with it on, and then when I disable it.
You mentioned how you need a Multi-tool and the tractor beam attachment.. nice part of salvage ship is that you can MAKE one with the salvage unit if you don't have it, but then will need to refill box to full before it will eject.. ;) hehehe
@@Farrister confused as to where the "expensive" part is.. it's from salvage you are gathering.. there IS no cost.. there is a bit more time gathering it, but that is negligible.. and someone would have to refresh me on amount needed as it's been a while since i tried it, but does it take the entire SCU of salvage to make one? Even if it does still does not make it a bad thing, because again, It Costs Nothing but time spent.. ;) If you are doing it every time you go out though, something else is wrong with you since once made, you keep it till you do something to get rid of it (or a wipe, but that resets everything so not applicable)... ;)
@@khandragon7950 there is a cost, in missed earnings, and efficiency for paying for salvage claim too!! But yes, nice feature that you can make your own tools :)

Love the walkthrough. I want to try out salvaging with a Vulture this week. I absolutely disagree with you that it's worth taking the weapons while salvaging though. If you are salvaging in a Vulture, it is a waste of time and space to take the weapons. I've never found S1 weapons (yet). S2 weapons sell for around 700 aUEC. S3 weapons sell for about 1.1k aUEC. S4 sell for around 1.7 aUEC. S5s jump up to around 5.1k aUEC. But... that's garbage. A single P4-AR sells for 1k aUEC. The 9Tails leather vests both sell for around 2.4k aUEC. And weapons take up a ridiculous amount of space. A *single* S2 badger takes up 2-4 SCU. A *single* S3 Panther takes up 3-6 SCU. And a *single* S4 Rhino takes up 4-8 SCU. Compared to RMC? They're not worth it. And the only reason to loot them is to sell them, they might as well not be salvageable. They're just garbage. And that's if they were *easy* to sell. But they're not. You can only sell weapons to the shops that sell them. Good luck finding one planet with all those different weapons for sale. And it's the same for cargo. You loot the cargo from a salvage ship and you'll have 1-2 SCU of 3+ different cargos, *none* of which can be sold at the same terminals, so you're stuck with that garbage in your ship while you drive all over Stanton selling 1SCU at a time. So very not worth it. I've been so turned off by salvaging *without* a Vulture, that I haven't even taken it out yet to see how it goes *with* it.
I do really like these gameplay videos, but the "real time" aspect, even though it is admittedly their main differential to the other hundreds out there, makes them too long for me to want to watch in full. If I had to say what my favourite kind of video in the channel is, it's ship reviews. My least favourite would be the ones that are just pure speculation on future Star Citizen subjects/mechanics. I hope this feedback helps! Keep up the great work!
Noted, and thanks! I'm finding it more challenging to schedule things in to cater for everybody now, so I'm just trying to put a mix of things up. Ship reviews are still happening :)
This is just “Hull Scraping”, in future we will get “Hull Munching” which will allow salvage ships to chew through and recycle the carcass of what is left after hull scraping. They are also going to implement manufacture/ship specific materials, for example, Crusader ships being made with higher grade aluminium than Drake ships meaning you might be able to successfully recycle a higher percentage of the ship, or Origin ships or Constellation Phoenix for example having more quantities of expensive materials like tungsten, and all of the gold decorative inlays etc
Its nice from time to time to make a salvaging trip on a vulture, but it gets old quite fast. The profit is not amazing, given the time it takes to consume a single wreck and the number of boxes it produces. I think the reclaimer is the way to go if you want to make a real profit. I've owned a vulture since... forever, possibly the third ship I bought in 3.10, when the ship concept become available, but I'm planning to CCU it to something else. I want to see how much will cost a Vulture in game and then get rid of mine.
Don't have to store. It's often a security thing - once it's stored, it's a bit more 'safe'. But because terminals have been slow lately, I kinda just left it for the next run
I just started mining with the prospector I’m half tempted to try out salvaging it’s only a five dollar upgrade with WB. Do you think it’s more lucrative than mining? Tough choices I tell ya haha Great video!
Hey Steven, in a Vulture salvaging in the Halo i can completely fill the Cargo grid and get another 6 boxes in the Aisle. This brings in around 170k for just under an hours work if you find a wreck in the Halo quickly which tbh I usually do. I set engines on full go decoupled and wait to see a salvage marker. With Mining its tough especially in the prospector, you have to get lucky to find top tier ores that you can break. However when I use the prospector, I drop down to a planet surface and mine any second tier ores that I find over 45% (This tends to give breaks of 100% of what you want more often) This can bring in roughly 70k per trip REFINED. If you get lucky you could do 2 trips per hour. The advantage mining has over Salvage is the chance you could always find that valuable rock and boost your hourly way above the Vulture, however on an average level, I would say the vulture is better, as you do not need to refine and then deliver, you just deliver.
Its definitely more consistent earnings wise, though doesn't have the higher reward that mining can sometimes bring. If you look for panels in any of the asteroid fields and salvage those, you can easily make 200k an hour. Just don't do the salvage contracts as they don't give too much scrap from the hull.
@@Sharps777 thank you for that break down. I see the vulture is still warbond so I was going to test it out today but wasn’t going to stress it as I do enjoy mining. As of late I add about 10 min to each trip but make sure it’s 100% tier 2 and 3 which brings my 4 trips just under an hour in a half, then I load up my msr and make between 275-310k in profit. But… the heads and modules have been an expense as well as the repairs that have been in the 20,000 range pending flight, I’ve gotten better but this seems to be something I’d enjoy just as much as mining. I’ll probably work up to owning both but wanted to choose one.
@@logers2343 thanks for the advice! One thing I find that could make it lucrative, is having someone else with you in a cargo ship. I have an msr and can see that being pretty fun to trade off salvaging and all that. I know I feel like I have limited time to save a few bucks on the vulture right now coming from the prospector, but I’ve only just started mining with it.
Eh, Ive learned I don't like salvaging. Not because there is anything wrong with salvaging itself, but because if the 30k doesnt get you, the exploding hangar doors will.
the Salvage missions have been a complete disaster for me. Every time I take a larger one (50k+) the server crashes and I lose the salvage, the mission, and my investment.
Newly get to play rather then lurk with new comp. Trying to decide how to make some cash. Bounties are very risky as a noob still. Thinking about this or mining. Thought about renting the ROC and taking a spirit or MSR or the corsair. then keep thinking just getting the minding ship would probably save time and energy. but not sure i want to spend my days in such an ugly ship lol. uuuug what to do. this looks cool though. I thought you could also pulverize the frame for more recourses no?
There are no armatures in SC - only professionals that does not have experience YET. You cant fit 25 SCU of cargo in vulture - 22 easy - and this what people do after seeing it once. Everything was fine until you did arrive to Lorville. Why owww why you didn't stored your ship i cant get. It is like parking paralel on disabled space - do not do it people. Landing space can assign you hangar to other person and if he/she will be landing with something big it can squeeze your ship in to "UNKONOW" status and after reaching terminal you will sell NOTHING.
I guess if you like the gameplay, it will be OK. The time it took to get 40k was not worth the time spent. Mining is similar unless you only go for Quant. You can do a minor or moderate bunker and make 65 to 80k plus loot. Sniper rifles are about 2k each. There are more exciting ways to make $$.
Agree, although 1) I wasn't min maxing for profits - people that do would strip the weapons and probably grab the cargo; and 2) this was not one of the biggest wrecks, the Vulture was not filled from this one :)
Please stop apologizing to possibly offend someone because you play the different then they do. Bottom line, you will never please anyone and the extreme small percentage of people who do complain is so insignificant that losing them as a sub is no loss. People watch your stream to watch you play. If they do not like it or see no value in what you do then they will just move on but not before trolling you page with a complaint. So just ignore them.
Do you know Powerwash simulator? It's just like the name says! you go on powerwashing dirty away. plus upgrades and job progression, also good sense of humor. Salvaging looks just like that and it gives me a zen like peace of mind and acomplishment: I know EXACTLY why you find that so satisfying! Also sick Quantum Drive, which one is it? It's crazy fast, almost 12 times as fast!

@@JmaK17 thanks for clearing that up. Sounds exciting
I think that's the plan!
Hit G to gimbal your lasers, WAY easier!
What happens if you start to "salvage" a live ship (e.g. one that another player is currently using)? 😁
Questions get asked, enforcement gets called, thank you for your prison service xD
@@Farrister But does it do a bit of noticeable damage to the other ship before they haul you away?
Its nice from time to time to make a salvaging trip on a vulture, but it gets old quite fast. The profit is not amazing, given the time it takes to consume a single wreck and the number of boxes it produces. I think the reclaimer is the way to go if you want to make a real profit.
I've owned a vulture since... forever, possibly the third ship I bought in 3.10, when the ship concept become available, but I'm planning to CCU it to something else. I want to see how much will cost a Vulture in game and then get rid of mine.
It's fun though. Part of it all for me is finding stuff I enjoy doing, even if it's not "min max most profitable meta"
how do you turn on the 'munchers'?
M for mining mode, then left click :)
Noticed you didn't store your ship just left it in the hanger, I thought you had to store to be abke to sell
Don't have to store. It's often a security thing - once it's stored, it's a bit more 'safe'. But because terminals have been slow lately, I kinda just left it for the next run
But they need to make it available for in game money... irl price feels too much for what it does atm😢
Yeah, agreed
Definitely turn off the lasers while the filler station is ejecting. Any salvage you get while that is busy is lost.
Good to know :)
I just started mining with the prospector I’m half tempted to try out salvaging it’s only a five dollar upgrade with WB. Do you think it’s more lucrative than mining? Tough choices I tell ya haha
Great video!
I prefer mining personally, but salvage can still be profitable too.
I wish i could salvage...but i got the salvage head bug today and so my Vulture is useless.
ooof :(
Eh, Ive learned I don't like salvaging. Not because there is anything wrong with salvaging itself, but because if the 30k doesnt get you, the exploding hangar doors will.
I've been lucky on the hangar front, so far...
Crewing in the vulture isnt worth it in my expierence with how small the cargo hold is.
the Salvage missions have been a complete disaster for me. Every time I take a larger one (50k+) the server crashes and I lose the salvage, the mission, and my investment.
Oh, I haven't experienced that, but can see how it would be frustrating!
40 Odd thousand profit from a short run with still 4 scu to go is good in my opinion
Ah good notes - I was headed back out after this run so was taking my chances!
I like the music. But dont phase it in and out as you start talking. Would rather you keep it playing albeit at a lower and steady volume.
Ooooh interesting - I thought the ducking helped! Thanks :)
The idea that a single player ship needs 2 people for moving boxes is beyond frustrating.
Need different music. Watching this cured my insomnia
Oh no, I like the music!
I think I'm just trying to be well mannered!
Its not well mannered to be submissive. Manners and submissive behavior are 2 different animals.
No joke. The Vulture looks just like the Venture from EVE. CIG better prepare for a lawsuit. Unless CCP decides to be cool about it.
Eeep!
Too bad you can't actually get one though.
Not yet :(
Going to be honest, would be better without music for the most part

Do you know Powerwash simulator? It's just like the name says! you go on powerwashing dirty away. plus upgrades and job progression, also good sense of humor. Salvaging looks just like that and it gives me a zen like peace of mind and acomplishment: I know EXACTLY why you find that so satisfying!
Also sick Quantum Drive, which one is it? It's crazy fast, almost 12 times as fast!
Haha that's the Goliath X12 version :D
@@Farrister Amazing, fastest Junker on this side of the galaxy! 🤘
Sure wish I could even play the game as intended right now. Total ASOP shutdown over the server. Fun.
Yeah, I had problems this week too :(
I can see the streamer servers are working because us mere mortals can't get anything to work in game right now.
Haha, I get no special anything, just a lot of time continually trying
