Started Etsy Jan 1st with no idea what I’m doing. Got my first sale 11 days in. I didn’t ask anyone I know to buy my products because I really wanted to test my SEO and product research. I don’t get “influence” from my competitors by copying them, I do download data spreadsheets on my competitor’s sales and analyze my Etsy stats for keywords to see what is in demand. No one like it but you’ll love it when you study how your shop is doing and make decisions (like running sales) based on data and not feelings. I started a digital Etsy store last year in July 2022. I put two listings up and felt very disappointed when I wasn't rich after 3days 😂 so I just left my shop open and never even checked on it. Went back and checked in January purely out of curiosity and surprisingly I had 6sales and 2 five star reviews with zero marketing, no shop logo, no banner so in the middle of February I went back to it and started building it out slowly. I have 34 listings now and 10 sales so not too bad. I'm extremely bad with delayed gratification though. I needed to see this video today because I do tend to get bored and unmotivated when I don't see immediate results. Anytime I feel this way I watch your videos to put me in my place😂 Thank you Dylan ❤️

" all my friends who have tried to set up their etsy shops gave up after 4-6 weeks because sales werent pouring in...
My first 30 days I made $12.99! My best friend was my first sale and I was over the moon, seriously. I've now been open for about 2 months and haven't gotten any new sales. I've had several setbacks that's slowed my business, mostly health challenges, and I've only been tending to my shop for and average of 1-2 hours every few days. I'm feeling much better now and the advice Dylan's been giving is very inspiring!

Thank you so much. I am working my backside off to build my store with real commitment, while working as well part time. This video came at the right time. 3 weeks in with about 140 listing's for digital products.
I received that feedback that i needed to keep my listings consistent for branding where previously I had copies of different photos for the same writing, etc to test. So I redid all the listings for consistency. And now I feel I was right to test. It's tricky finding the right thing to do

I started Etsy around this time last year selling my photography prints. I've made 12 sales even though I've followed everything I can think of - titles, tags, descriptions, clear good quality pictures. For some reason I made a lot more sales last year - this year I've only made 2 so far. Can't understand why I'm not getting many sales!

Great video, thanks for that! In my first month i sold nothing! 🤦🏻♀️ I have my store open for 3 months and this month i had 4 organic sales. I really like your last point, that's very true. I'm curious to hear What loss leader would you do for a pod tshirt? Thanks so much
💜💛Hello, my store on Etsy was temporarily shut down. When i appealed they said it would be permanant. I had just been open for one week and not violated any terms. It somehow miraculously opened again and I'm terrified if I upload too many items it will get shut down again... I was loading around 20 per day and now have over 100 items in my store. I still want to grow as fast as i can and offer tons of options to my cutomers- I sell tumbler wrap designs. My question is how many items should i upload per day??? Thanks a bunch!!!

Can I have an example of a loss leader I'm lost on this 😅 I sell homemade customized vinyl decals and customisable sticker sheets, they're not expensive to buy at all like less that 3 euro, and I have categories and have an ever growing POD also in the same Etsy shop. Are my decals and sheets my loss leaders already? They draw people to my shop
Question…. If I start promoting my shop and my shop isn’t looking great and I do drive some traffic to my shop and than those people that come to the shop say “this shop has hardly any merchandise and it’s not so great” than what will guarantee they ever come back to the shop? Also I don’t have any cohesive look to my shop when you scroll through there are definitely different mock-ups and I have always loved the way it looked so uniform when you use the same mockup when scrolling through it just looks neat. But maybe that’s a me thing, I like how clean it looks. How to you take an item that sells well and make more money with it when it’s a print on demand tshirt. I have a birthday shirt that is selling well and I know it could be selling way better and I am missing out on making more money, I just don’t know what else to do with it.
I made 1 sale my first 30 days and I was not active for months and now that I am active I have 18 sales but as much as I have tried to study SEO I still am really struggling to get sales at all. Almost 50 listings. None are from SEO. I have bought courses and classes and I truly do feel like I am a lost cause. I am not giving up, but I’m so tired of the discouragement. I just want 100 sales right now, not even 1000s at this time.
I started an Etsy store selling AI Art as digital downloads not knowing market research, SEO, mockups, etc. My first month I had 1 sale and a total net profit of -$12. The subsequent two months I made a small profit but this month I am struggling with sales 😒
I want to start a shop selling print on demand phone cases using AI as part of the design process. I have a limited budget. I am a photographer. However, my house is a nondescript condo and I'm self conscious about my poorly kept up hands. I don't have the addition resources to buy a bunch of designs for the phones. So, I am left with the option of mockup. I do have the skills to make mockups using Photoshop which I am quite experienced with. I would have to find a model and I have a potential model. However, at most with this model I would be able to get 3-5 mockup shot i think. I was also concerned that the mock-up might not all fit with all my customers. For example, if I create a mock up shot in a chic home and drop a design made for Goths. Will that work. Because of all these problems I was reconcidering shooting on one background but is this a mistake?

Your videos are so inspiring,I found you recently, and I watch a lot of your videos and get so much good advice thank you !Sk I went from having 35 sales now I’m at 212 sales in the past 2 months ,I know that’s not that much ,but I was hearing the cha Ching sound left ,and right it was stressful yet exciting !😀These past few days have been so slow for me I’m still getting favorites and people viewing my shop ,but less sales and it just scares me since I been getting quite a bit sales lately?Should I be scared ?
I got 4 sales the first week for a total of $57.50. I remember hearing "Cha-ching" for the first time and not knowing where that sound had come from. Haha! I asked my mom, "What was that?" :) The first 8 months were all about being patient and sticking with it. On month 9, sales improved considerably. My biggest weakness is social media. I dislike the fact that I probably have as many fake account as followers on Instagram as real ones. Is that normal for everyone else?

I am new to selling on Etsy, but after my 7 listing I had 13 sales and 4 reviews. And I haven’t had friends og family buying anything, I havent even shown them the shop. But the revenue is not high do to it being graphics and only very few listings, but I can see the possibility. Sadly I can’t upload listings every day because I focus on quality and have a part-time job and a daughter with Down syndrome, but I will keep at it, at my own phase ❤️❤️
Hi 👋🏼 Dylan, I have a question if I may, I opened my Etsy store in 2019, however, due to my circumstances, I didn’t get chance to start uploading my work until March this year 2023, I only have 5 sales so far. Have I missed out on what others are telling me is a Etsy ‘honeymoon period’? And is there a way for me to remove the ‘been on Etsy since 2019’ I am just a little worried how my store may come across to potential buyers that see I’ve been on since 2019 with ONLY 5 sales. Should I close up shop and start again? BTW great informative video

I've had a small amount of sales in 3 months, but my question is, I opened my ETSY store 10 years ago and forgot I had one, then decided to open one and realized I already had one, so used the one I started 10 years ago and have built to over 250 products in the past few months. Was that a wrong thing to do? Will that affect my visibility or should I have started with a completely new store?
so you're up for approx $200 a year to etsy and what? still no sales? If I got to 40 listings and Im not even seeing traffic and its been 6 months, Id delete my account and stick up a middle finger🤣 yet notice Im still willing to waste 6 months of my life to find out but my hopes are minimal
@@rochellevincentevonk oh, no, I was just observing that if you are paying 20 cents every quarter, 250 listings you are now up for 200 dollars a year. I would want to see some sort of return for that amount. I received that feedback that i needed to keep my listings consistent for branding where previously I had copies of different photos for the same writing, etc to test. So I redid all the listings for consistency. And now I feel I was right to test. It's tricky finding the right thing to do

This video was just what I needed in my moment of frustration. Thanks Dylan 🙏🏼
Happy to help, Chris!
I have followed some of your UA-cam tips and I am a brand new Etsy seller and I've had 90 sales in a week and a half! 😊

Hello! I made $0 in my first 30 days on Etsy. It took me 2 months to get my first sale.
Thank you for sharing!!
This was so helpful. Thank you so much! I had no idea how to add the items.
Glad to help!
the step 5, I needed to hear that because i wasn't sure if i was doing the right thing and turns out i was wrong. I'm relying on etsy and other POD platforms to take off and I'm not doing anything else, not hustling and looking for cashflow, I'm afraid if I do it I wont have the time to sit down and draw because I would be tired and drained from working all day. but thank you for that advice you are the first person who i heard gave it i will finish uploading the rest of my art and start looking for a job at the same time.

I sold nothing in my first month on Etsy, despite getting a lot of views.
I tried changing up some product qualities, but I have been getting even less views since then.
I’m about five months in, still with no sales.
I’m trying not to let it discourage me and I’m continuing to work on new products to add.

I wish I could remember. I think I waited months to get my first sale. 😮. I do remember that my table runners got promoted on an influencer account and after that my sales increased!

What's a "loss leader"?
The store I'm building now saw 0 income the first 60 days. I'm now in month 4 and I'm at 12 sales.
I'd love to help you out with this, there's more I'd need to know! Feel free to send us a DM on instagram @dylanjahraus and we can talk more about it. Mention the code ETSY1 when you reach out!
Thank you very much

Hi Vivian, if you want to message me on IG I would love to chat with you more on this. In the message add GROWTH1 in your message
I started an Etsy store selling AI Art as digital downloads not knowing market research, SEO, mockups, etc. My first month I had 1 sale and a total net profit of -$12. The subsequent two months I made a small profit but this month I am struggling with sales 😒
You are the best ❤🎉🎉
Thank you!!!
I’ve done all these steps and I’ve been doing my Etsy shop for a year. I’ve only had 20 sales
Let's talk on IG my handle is @DylanJahraus. So we can talk more about your challenges on your Etsy. :)
How can I get your help one on one for my shop. I need your guidance please.
I started my store at the end of June 2023, made one sale in my first month and nothing since

I got 4 sales the first week for a total of $57.50. I remember hearing "Cha-ching" for the first time and not knowing where that sound had come from. Haha! I asked my mom, "What was that?" :)
The first 8 months were all about being patient and sticking with it. On month 9, sales improved considerably. My biggest weakness is social media. I dislike the fact that I probably have as many fake account as followers on Instagram as real ones. Is that normal for everyone else?

I made 5 sales and sold 15 items my first month. Feels good but I want to keep scaling
Let's go!!!
You got this, Karima!
Hi 👋🏼 Dylan,
I have a question if I may, I opened my Etsy store in 2019, however, due to my circumstances, I didn’t get chance to start uploading my work until March this year 2023, I only have 5 sales so far.
Have I missed out on what others are telling me is a Etsy ‘honeymoon period’?
And is there a way for me to remove the ‘been on Etsy since 2019’
I am just a little worried how my store may come across to potential buyers that see I’ve been on since 2019 with ONLY 5 sales.
Should I close up shop and start again?
BTW great informative video

That is great to hear! What prompted you to start your shop?
@@dylanjahraus Funny thing is I’ve always done art. Just didn’t see being able to make a career out of it. My husband bought me a ipencil. That lead to procreate which lead to creating coloring books for KPD which lead to Etsy. I had to get comfortable going from physical to digital. But I saw the endless opportunities and was like hey I can do this. So here we are in the beginning stages. I’m hoping to commit to 2 years. Im testing coloring book pages, coloring bookmarks. 2nd day of ads. Definitely learning a lot.
Thank You!!!!

@@AugustusOmega that wasn't my question or the info re my account at all... but good luck to u hope it works out ✌
@@rochellevincentevonk oh, no, I was just observing that if you are paying 20 cents every quarter, 250 listings you are now up for 200 dollars a year. I would want to see some sort of return for that amount. In answer to your question which I ignored, no you arent penalized for not opening a fresh account. why would you be? in my opinion if the account is in good standing, they couldnt care less.
First 30 days I made 2 sales making about 6 dollars
