    This was so incredibly helpful. I felt like I was watching someone who was a master at her craft throughout this whole video. She is such a skilled and creative person. And I'm hoping you all at metal Clays will upload more videos on the future.

    So if it's three sizes for standard shrinking without a ceramic shrink stopper I would require a 15 for a proper size 12. Good to know.

    Why do we need ring cups first place? Why not just leaving the ring after cutting it around the drying mold and then sand it and fire?

      Hi, You can also approach that way but joining, filling and securing seam is a lot more work. Also to get a really secure seam for ring you would have to use much more material. In short it is an simply an alternative approach with much less of learning curve.

    • @wendyannh
      @wendyannh 3 роки тому

      @@MetalClays Why would you have to use more material? That doesn’t make any sense. You are actually using more by having to apply these ring caps than would be used if they were eliminated.

    Do you use water to “glue” all parts at the ring?

    • @MetalClays
      @MetalClays  9 місяців тому +1

      No. Clay and water are mixed to create "paste" and that is used to "glue" pieces together.

    Do u use a microwave kiln . I would of liked to see the kiln or torch process to see the finished polished product

    • @MetalClays
      @MetalClays  4 роки тому +1

      We do not. I would suggest Googling torch firing method but would never suggest torch firing a ring. Or microwave for that matter.

    • @davidnemeth2605

      @@wendyannh Because it is extremely difficult to apply consistent and even heat with a torch. A ring is a high wear item it is essential to have a complete and even sinter of silver particulates.

    Interesting system for rings, I get it makes the bands stronger but they all look like spinner rings with the plain bands on each end. Can this system be adapted and used for spinner rings?

      I have never worked pmc but you can get two part silicone. Mix the two liquids and pour any mold you create then you have a reusable rubber mold. Theres probably more options than this
