Man, I miss Tira's original theme. Wings of Despair was such a great theme. Would love for them to bring it back for VI.
Yeah, it's such a great song and when they brought it back in Soul Calibur IV, it did the song no justice at all, it was just too slow just like the remake for Ephemeral Dream.
I really like how you can go back in older soul calibur games and evolve your characters, it’s almost like you have your own little series within the soul calibur story.
Haha that's actually what I did with some of the characters. I wanted to add an evolution section at the end but I realized it would've made this video longer than it already was so I passed on it. I may do a future video showcasing the evolution of some of my characters but if you look closely, I think you can tell who evolved in this little showcase haha.
Decadent Gamer I could definitely tell who was who. But yes I would love to see an evolution video and maybe some background information on them.

Oh man, I am *SO* looking forward to seeing what VI does with its creation! Hopefully a mix of the customisation options from V and the original fighting styles from III as well as some new innovation.
The main thing I want is for them to not skimp on layering like they did in Soul Calibur 4. lol
Man, why has the character maker gone down in so many ways? 4 put stats on clothes, a feature I hate in any game. Must just be something Bamco likes doing, cause they won't drop it in Xenoverse no matter how many people say they hate it. Then the parts issue other's have already mentioned. Part that saddens me the most is how none like 3 have had the same large pool of weapon choices. While yes, 4 had a lot of options two, they were cut-corner copies of cast characters. This is why I'd rather have the bonus characters come back instead of getting a guest character whose style we won't be able to use. Doubt they'll do it though... Gotta have that fancy guest. Yay Geralt. I'm ecstatic. Woo.
Nice designs too. Haven't seen you're 5 video yet, but definitely wanna check it out for possible inspirations.
Ok, I can't say any game. Obviously, there's purpose for it in RPGs. But here? No. Really wish more games did like Diablo 3. Regardless of what you're wearing, you can transmog a piece of armor to look like something else. But that's for other games. In games like Soul Calibur or Xenoverse, I don't see the need for stats on clothes at all.
Yeah it was such a shame seeing how the creation went backwards in some ways though in 5, despite the conflict issues, it was on the right path as it went back to the Soul Calibur 3 system of layering things and it was a lot better than 4. Doing this video made me remember how much I loathed Soul Calibur 4's creation system as there wasn't that many clothes to choose from, let alone good clothing.
Soul Calibur 3's creation was pretty on the mark for the most part except for how the clothing would affect your character's alignment and how on some pieces, you couldn't color everything which would result in unflattering color palettes.

Yes i completely agree you know i had like hundreds of hours of fun just making characters in the creation mode in SC3. And then when i played Chronicles of the Sword, unlocked loads more items it was awesome so much content. I even made my own Lotr characters and Dynasty Warriors characters and made them for Chronicles of the Sword and just pretended i was playing my own little DW or Lotr mini-game in that mode. Gosh i wish they would bring that back.
@@RaikenXion Chronicles of the Sword was so great, I really wish we got another mode more like it. While all the arena effects pissed me off sometimes, moving the characters around a map and taking over towers was great. Whatever it's called in 6, I forget, is a failed imitation.
@@staticspider344 Yes exactly i really liked that whole thing about it, and its hard to really describe what catagory you could put that in, was it part strategy!? I just dont know, but i luv it when devs choose not to just straight out copy whats the popular thing at the time, but they get creative and thats what Chronicles of the Sword really was. I'd luv it if they brought a newer, updated version of it back, i mean i'd pay top-dollar for that kind of dlc.
Going back to Soul Calibur 4 made me remember why I really didn't like the customization all that much. You may notice I may have reused some items more than once and well, that's because SCIV was so limited with their customization slots and there really weren't that many pieces to choose from since they linked upper armor and mid clothing along with hip and lower body items together. It was so annoying and I'm so glad they ditched that in Soul Calibur 5 returning back to the way things were in Soul Calibur 3 lol
Decadent Gamer I know what you mean, I especially don't like the fact that certain pieces give you more health than others, usually I spend hours putting together an outfit that will give me full health, and I may not like it in the future.

I remember seeing it and feeling so annoyed, i managed to make a few good characters on SC4 though, made a decent Cloud and even got the same shape of his trousers, and used the shapes/items to do the spikes for his hairstyle. I tried to make Zack to go with it but was gutted that you cant even unlock Algol's hairstyle cause that is pretty much Zack's
Was really happy to see they had allowed us to use Algol's hairstyle in SC5, that was definitely a improvement from SC4, and they even added this coat which was very similar to the long black coat that Sephiroth has, so meant could make him easily too.
But yeh i just wish SC6 would bring more things back from SC3, like the separate individual fighting styles you could choose from, and the added bonus ones too.

You know, even with the addition of body size and more voice options, SCIV and V never captured the awesomeness that was SC3's CaS, and that's even putting aside the fact that we had freaking Chronicles of the Sword which gave our characters a little bit more personality and room to swim around, I'm just talking the variety of clothing options we had, and the lack of limitation to what the characters can wear that was introduced in IV and later toned down in V.
That's true. I mean don't get me wrong, Soul Calibur 5 was headed in the right direction as it did go back to the SC3 system where you were able to layer things again unlike SC4 and I do think the body size customization helped make characters look visually different but yeah, the lack of variable clothing really hurt the system. They really should've brought back all the pieces from SC3 and SC4 into SC5 and just keep adding from there. Hopefully SC6 will get it right.
Yeah I really don't get their habit of adding something great, then instead of building upon it, totally revamping or removing it altogether... :(

Lord Raptor 5s was the best outside of 1 unique character weapon choice but yeah
Bravo, Decadent. This was a marvelous display of your custom characters. It amazes me how you were able to think up such diverse designs and have them just work for everyone so effortlessly. Meanwhile, I'm in the process of completing Soulcalibur II Extra Arcade with all characters before moving on to Soulcalibur on my Xbox 360, followed by Soulcalibur III by the middle of July.
I can definitely see why a lot of people love the character creation function in these games. Customization is practically a treasure in video games and should be added to give the player the ability to express themselves. I definitely want to create a ton of fascinating characters with intricate designs much like you did here, but I fear my OCD will somewhat ruin that for me.
Okay, rambling over. I just felt the need to acknowledge your creativity and share my take on character creation.
Thanks a lot! Admittedly, creating characters in SC4 took a lot more thought back in the day since they really limited what you could do in terms of clothing but I tried to make it work and I'm just glad that they somewhat fixed this problem in SC5 haha.
And that's awesome, hope you're enjoying the series so far. I myself need to get to reviewing SCI as I finally bought it on my 360 so I hear you there.
Yes, Character Creation can be quite fun as it allows the player to show their creative side and potentially come up with some great character designs. Generally, fighting games are one of the genres where I feel character creation just works and hopefully someday we'll see it in Tekken and as well as come back in Mortal Kombat after having been in Armageddon. The important thing with character creation is taking your time with it. That's how I go about with all the characters I've created.

I'm hoping for less gender exclusive clothing in soul Calibur 6 so I can have my males in effeminate fashion. Imaging having Siegfried wearing high heels. Hahahaha.
LOL I wouldn't mind seeing that as well if all else, to make some femboy type characters haha. I dunno, we may get that option since a lot of the main clothes in SC5 were gender shared so hopefully they'll continue this in Soul Calibur. If the WWE games can do it to an extent (well the older games), then nothing's stopping Soul Calibur from it haha.

Decadent Gamer But in all seriousness your CACs are good. I also feel happy to know there’s someone else who recreate some of their CAC in other soul Calibur installments like their apart of the main cast.
Plus I know the feel with Soul Calibur 4 😂. I had at least half my CACs having something similar in their design since I do two costumes for them.

I hope this type of customization (SC3) will return in SC6. Even if i didn't play, it looks very very awesome and i hope this and the custom character's weapons return in the new game.
You should pick up Soul Calibur 3 if you still have a PS2 and haven't tried the game. It's pretty fun and the customization was a good start. The only problem is that the clothes affected your character's personality so like for example, you try to make a cool looking hero but because of one of the garments, they may have an evil personality. It was pretty annoying to deal with lol And also, you couldn't color everything on some of the clothing items which could really throw off color schemes if your color theme didn't match around it. But yeah, it was a good introduction of the feature.
Decadent Gamer I enjoy playing Soul Calibur 3 to this day. In my opinion it’s the best Soul Calibur

SC5 character creation was really quite bare-bones tbh, SC5 improved and did have some good character creation content. But SC3 still has the best and most customize items out the whole series. The only thing SC3 didn't have was body weight and allow you to individualize muscle.
Man i wish they would just bring back Chronicles of the Sword as paid DLC for SC6. Or atleast include ALL the customize pieces from SC3 cause there was alot.

Hm... Considering these are OCs, do these guys have any little stories behind them? Like, perhaps a mentor-pupil relation between Takeda and Mei, or something like that? Or is that too weird of a question?
I actually have developed little stories for a few of the characters. I'm planning on sharing them in a later video since people seem curious about it lol

To this very day i will always think 4 custom creation was lazy done and half ass I understand why 3 creation was the way it is it was a ps2 so they could only do so much with the software but the ps3 had no excuse none what so ever they could of easily had done more into making creations 4 custom characters look at 5 they went all out while 4 was half assed 3 and 5 were my favorite in terms of custom characters
Agreed so much. 4 is easily the worst creation in terms of clothing options and fell flat to Soul Calibur 3. 5 was in the right direction as the only problems it had was a lot of equipment conflict issues but hopefully SC6 expands with what was laid out in 5 and give us a great custom creation system that lives up to 3 & 5.
4 weapon styles u could have 3 styles the basic movest like the monk and dancer the advance moveset like the main roster like taki fighting style then return movset like I could have 5 fighting style return lexia fighting style natsu and others for sc6
I wouldn't mind seeing Leixia, Natsu, & Viola's style coming back for character creation but only their styles, not the characters themselves.
I like lexia she's my main but her moveset was water down then her mother she only had. 2 gi stances and 1 when she spins on the ground she could of use more stances like her mother in 4 when she saids just kidding or trick ya lexia to me is beginner friendly but she's pretty good with fakeouts and stuns
Too bad having 5 styles comeback won't happen tho that's a lot of work even if they do come back it probably be even more water down

I understand, Soul Calibur IV's character creation is easily the weakest in the series, especially after Soul Calibur 3's creation was quite robust for it's time.

I miss the Class System that was introduced in SoulCalibur III ( my favorite SoulCalibur game of all time ) & SoulCalibur IV's character creation felt lackluster compared to III's. ( really hated the fact the gear affected your stats )
