      +Garrett Orfant I love the fact that a woman is doing it because it makes it appear easier to do. The greedy mechanics that work at shops with a ton of overhead want to intimidate you and make you think that the job is hard to do. So when you see a girl do it you know those guys are full of shit.

    • @derpanda2457

      I'm sure some are female , like the girl in the video, but that's not the point . The point was she made it look easy and the mechanics at a shop with a ton of overhead don't want you to know its as easy as it is.

      She didn't show how hard it sometimes is to get those bolts loose. I know that from doing work on a mazda3's motor mounts.
      OTOH, it's not like watching someone use a breaker bar is interesting, but it should be advised that you will need one, a lot, esp on older vehicles.

    Man. Even after you not making videos on this car anymore. I can still count on you for helping me out. Other videos don't really explain what to do with the passenger side, just complain that it's harder. So thank you again and I hope some more of your old videos help me in the future! :)

    I like your videos, they are clear and concise. But I hate seeing you work on a car with exposed feet and heals (putting weight/pressure on the front of your foot). Talking about safety, should not use standard sockets with an impact wrench - they can explode - use impact sockets (they are black).

    • @everythingdiy
      @everythingdiy  8 років тому +1

      Glad you enjoyed our video! That impact wrench only outputs 75 lb ft of torque max, there's no way that would destroy our standard craftsman sockets.

    • @martinlanza1236
      @martinlanza1236 8 років тому +2

      It's not the torque - it's the impact action

    • @everythingdiy
      @everythingdiy  8 років тому +4

      Been using it daily with these sockets for the last 4 years and I've never had a single issue.

    • @martinlanza1236
      @martinlanza1236 8 років тому +6

      I certainly hope you don't have an accident - just because you have not experienced a failure to date does not make it right. Standard Milwaukee operating instructions (also found on other brands like SnapOn etc) "Use only sockets and other accessories specifically designed for use on impact wrenches and drivers. Other sockets and accessories might shatter or break causing injury."

      @Zeppelinlv2007 8 років тому

      +bleach "It's not rare for a female to work on a car."
      Yes it is. It meets the definition. This is a comparative subject. So contextually, males overwhelming dominate the field of working on cars than females, leisurely or professionally. This isn't debatable; stats all throughout the internet with sources clearly show this. Hec, even observant pseudo science can tell you this. Call or go to 10 mechanic shops, how many women are working on cars? Go ask a few neighbors, ask them how many females work on their car?
      Ironically, my mother showed me the ropes on how to take care and fix a car. She was one of the "rare" ones. :)

      It's a Makita lithium ion cordless impact driver model number: LXDT04CW. It's on the pricey side but it's definitely worth the money. It's definitely got a kick but it's not overly powerful which is why we like it. I think maximum torqueing ability is about 120 ft lbs. Thanks for watching!!

    Hi, is that the part needed to be able to align the rear wheels? My rear tires has toe out wear.

    • @everythingdiy
      @everythingdiy  9 років тому +1

      No this is only to adjust camber. To adjust toe you need to rotate a bolt that connects the rear control arm to the subframe. This bolt has a washer with a series on lines on it, it's hard to miss. This bolts needs to be either rotated left or right depending on your specification. Said bolt can be seen in this image near the grey connector: img.photobucket.com/albums/v226/eyesoreracing/Rally%20Mazda3/smallP1000866.jpg
      There are two of these to adjust both rear tires. This bolt is tightened by a nut so you'll need 2 wrenches to adjust it. If you have any questions let us know. Thanks!!

    • @everythingdiy

      It has very similar pedal feel for day to day driving - but when the brakes get very hot the steel brake lines definitely maintain a firmer pedal feel, whereas the rubber lines would get rather spongy. It's a great mod for more sport-minded drivers that sometimes take it to the track.

      if you are serious and don't really know-
      there are 3 conditions relative to any wheel.
      1 - toe
      2- camber
      3- caster
      toe is very simple - look down at your toes- toe neutral- toe in or toe out.
      most vehicles have about 1* of toe in to compensate for the vehicle driving and propelling itself down the road.
      camber is the vertical angle of the wheel/tire as viewed from the top or bottom of the tire/ wheel. positive camber is when the tire / wheel is angled in at the bottom/ road contact area. negative camber is when the wheel is angled in at the vertical top.
      caster is a differential angle between the upper and lower ball joints or the lower ball joint and top of the strut that effects how the spring/ strut responds to bumps in the road and thus how those bumps effect or are negated by your suspension, shocks, struts and springs.

    you should torque bushings such as these with the wheels on the ground. to simulate this you can jack up the wheel as you have done but needs to be actually lifting it off the jack stand. If you do not do this properly the bushings will fail prematurely. never too late to go back and loosen and then re-torque, maybe ask the alignment person to do this when it is on their rack.

      +steven moses Alignment is the main issue for tires wearing more quickly on Mazda's. Mazda uses a more fun and aggressive approach to their alignments- which yes, does give these car better handling… but the downside is that your tires wear quicker. The main problem is toe-in on the front end of your vehicle; Mazda's generally have a generous amount of toe-in from the factory. It does give you more stability and control, but also scrubs the insides of the tires while doing so. To reduce tire wear, the main target is to reduce the amount of toe-in on the front end of the car. If you have an alignment shop, set the total toe-in on the front end of your vehicle to 0 then do the rest of the alignment within spec. You should see a considerable decrease in tire wear. Don't worry about the factory toe-in setting at the rear end of the vehicle, these tires generally wear at a normal rate… and the toe-in aids in high speed stability. Also, contrary to popular belief, negative camber (within reason) has very little to do with tire wear. Don’t worry about the factory camber settings, they’re static and do not increase the wear-rate of your tires… toe is where it’s at. Thanks for watching!

    Ok so your video popped up randomly while looking for something completely different lol. But as a mechanic I will say awsome job, great info, great camera angles and views. I know someone said something about safty glasses. (We all should wear them.but never do. But for god sake PLEASE put on steal toe boots, settle for boots at a minimum. My best friend lost ALL his toes doing a simple break job in sandals. Yea might not sound bad but he cant run, has a cane for life. I understand some people watch because you are very attractive (also alot of odd foot fetish guys on the web but wont kink shame anyome to each thier own) but please what if a camber arm slipped out of your cand.... boom broke toes. Car comes off jack..... no toes, no foot. Work boots caould actually save your whole foot. Other than that awsome amazing job. Going to check out some other vids on your channel.

      +Dat1Nigga ZimDoe It's not a high torque impact drill, it puts out 75 ft lbs at the absolute max. That's nowhere near the forces experienced by an air impact gun, those can exceed 1000 ft lbs with ease. Thanks for watching!

    Probably shouldn't have the jack centered on the brake disc while you're refitting the strut column like that. Behind the brake disc where the lower control arm meets the your hub knuckle would be a safer area, an put a rubber seat over the jack cup so you don't ruin your undercoating. Other than that good tutorial!!

    What brand are these rear camber arms?

    • @everythingdiy
      @everythingdiy  9 років тому

      Steven Solis SPC. A lot of companies like Acdelco and Moog rebrand SPC camber arms. Try and stick with these higher quality brands as you don't want an important part like this to fail.

    Hi,
    I suggest you put on safety wears on all of your DIY videos. It is a good practice and a must for everyone when working on heavy equipments.
    Thanks for the clear demonstration.
