    I love how perfectly you pronounce vizsla! It is rear to hear from non-Hungarians. 🙂
    Greetings from Hungary!

    A truly wonderful breed of dog...Jax is going to provide you guys with so much joy 😁 I'm 4 years in with my first Vizsla and to say every day is an adventure is an understatement. So loyal, so energetic, so loving and so damn goofy! Puppy stage was complete insanity, but man the patience pays off. My advice to anybody thinking of a vizsla...EXERCISE!!! Also be prepared to be stopped constantly by other vizsla owners and people asking what breed it is 😆

    • @JaxsonJordan
      @JaxsonJordan  3 роки тому

      Agreed! Jax has been such a source of joy for us. So great to hear that even 4 years in the adventures never stop. They truly are the sweetest, most attentive and challenging (in a good way!) dogs. Couldn’t agree more that exercise is the most important part of a happy vizsla (and owner). It can look different for everyone, but finding what works for you and your pup keeps everyone happy. And yup, everyone always thinks he’s a ridgeback 🤣

    I’m amazed by this. Me and my partner just got a vizsla under two months ago and I can’t imagine the stress of going through it in an apartment. What was your experience with crate training? The thought of him waking up the neighbours even whilst living in a house caused us the most stress. Shoutout from Australia btw ✌️

      A puppy is a lot of work but we also got Jax during Covid when both of us were around all the time. Crate training was tough for the first couple of days but he quickly caught on and eventually went into the crate by himself every night when he was tired. It became his safe spot.

      Oh also our apartment units were super quiet. Concrete structure with really great insulation so we never heard our neighbors and they never heard us!

    Did the breeder have any concerns about selling to someone who lives in a small appartment? I’ve been trying desperately to get a vizsla but here in The Netherlands it is so hard to find someone who is willing to sell a puppy to us. They all think our appartment (similiar to yours) is too small or are concerned about the fact that we don’t hunt 😣 its super frustrating! Having a spacious house with a garden is not an excuse to go outside less. Your vizsla seems perfectly happy!

    • @JaxsonJordan
      @JaxsonJordan  3 роки тому +1

      Sorry for the late response! We did not, luckily. I think lifestyle is more important than apartment size. If you’re personal lifestyle includes a lot of outdoor activity then your vizsla won’t care how small your apartment is imo. Jax is always sleeping when he’s home because he’s usually out running around when he’s awake!

      @@JaxsonJordan I totally agree but unfortunately many breeders here don’t even want to put me on the waitinglist because of this 😣 I almost started to doubt myself and question if it is selfish of me. Your video gives me confidence tho, we’ll keep trying. Thank you so much!

    I live in an apartment in London , I’d really like a Vizsla but am wary as I don’t have a garden . I do have access to green spaces close by . Advice ?

    • @JaxsonJordan
      @JaxsonJordan  Рік тому

      Hi! Thanks for the question. We’re in a similar situation. As long as you can take your Vizsla out twice a day (morning and afternoon) for a good run in an outdoor space (off leash) you’ll be fine. Jax sleeps all day when he’s at home 😀

    Thanks for your video, just about to buy a vizsler in the next few weeks and I live in an apartment.
    Just curious how many hours a day is Jax in the apartment ?
    Thanks

    • @JaxsonJordan
      @JaxsonJordan  3 роки тому

      Jax is in the apartment most of the day. He goes out for big runs twice a day for about 1.5-2 hrs each session. During these sessions he’s off leash. When he’s home he’s sleeping and happy 😊

    Hi there, Vizsla owner here! 😁 I was wondering if your pup ever had separation anxiety? We’re trying to work through it with ours right now and it’s been tough. Just wondering if you had any advice, thanks! :)

    • @JaxsonJordan
      @JaxsonJordan  3 роки тому +3

      Hey Sunny! Jax had separation anxiety most when we first got him (around 10 weeks old). We crate trained him for about a week straight and that did wonders. But that first week of crate training can be painful. Lots of barking and crying and we felt horrible! Sometimes after we let him out he would shy away from us. You just have to be persistent/more stubborn than your pup. ha! Now we can leave him in his crate at home and leave for a couple of hours and he wont bark at all. He'll just go to bed :) The separation anxiety still exists to some extent but its pretty minimal now. lmk what other questions you have and maybe I can help answer them!

    • @sunnylopez3760
      @sunnylopez3760 3 роки тому

      @@JaxsonJordan thank you so much for the advice!!! We’re trying so hard with crate training and he still has a difficult time settling and being away from us. He’s 13 weeks and he’s definitely giving us a run for our money haha. Constant screaming and crying the second we leave him alone. We’ll continue to push through and hopefully it gets better from here on out. Thank you so so much for the quick response! :)

    • @JaxsonJordan
      @JaxsonJordan  3 роки тому +2

      @@sunnylopez3760 yeah it’s tough. The main thing we learned was to not reward his barking/crying. We only let Jax out of the crate when he was quiet for at least 3-5 min. The first week we also fed him in his crate and gave him treats in there so that he had a positive association with that space. It was really effective.

      Quick tip I did when I had a Vizsla pup, leave the room or house, wait a few seconds then walk back in while ignoring the pup then wait a few seconds and walk back out. Do this ten times in a row. Then repeat but wait ten seconds to walk back in and leave. Repeat the cycle but double your wait times for every set of ten. Your pup will soon learn that you will always come back for them and think it's a fun game you're playing. Your neighbors may think you're crazy walking in and out of your place a hundred times though ;)

    I definitely don't think your apartment is too small for a Vizsla - what he needs is good, long walks and looks like you provide it plenty.

      You should always consult with a vet you trust! That being said our friend who has a lot of experience with vizslas carries hers up the stairs until they’re too heavy. You will want them to experience and be able to navigate stairs, even as a pup, once you determine what that looks like for you.
