European Rewilding Network | Rewilding Intro | De Maashorst

In February, the European Rewilding Network (ERN) hosted a new ‘Rewilding Intro’ event! The goal of these mini-webinars, is to give each ERN member the opportunity to share their story, achievements and expertise, and to further develop beneficial exchange across the network.
This time De Maashorst, a decade long rewilding initiative from the Netherlands presents itself! With more than a decade of rewilding work behind them, De Maashorst is on a mission to link its core open habitat of 1,500 hectares with the surrounding forest. Large grazers that include European bison, Tauros and Exmoor ponies are playing a pivotal part in helping to reshape the landscape, making it ever-changing and more biodiverse.

Even though the Netherlands is much more populated, it's great to see how spots can be rewildered and regenerated.

In wich way does this differ from a large zoo enclosiure? You go on and on about "oer natuur" But you plan to make an atraction park like a zoo. Cant you spend the money to buy more hectare's of land?
