  • In this video we test the Salt Dogg TGS07 tailgate spreader made by Buyers. We test how much a full hopper of product will cover as well as whether this tailgate spreader can live up to its claims and spread sand and salt. We test this with relatively dry sand to start and then near the second half we load some wet sand to see how the spreader holds up. At the very end of the video we show how this tailgate spreader handles spreading straight salt for those of you interested in that.
    I hope you enjoyed this content and it helped you out if you are planning to buy a tailgate spreader. In no way are we affiliated with Buyers Products or is this video. We simply purchased this spreader this season and decided to make a video as I didn't see very many about tailgate spreaders and using 50/50 mix or bulk sand and salt.
    Again thanks for watching and make sure to like and subscribe it is appreciated greatly!

      Lucky! We get about 8 feet of snowfall per winter. Some melts but most stays so you’ll see road banks over my head and parking lot banks piled 40 feet high for most of January and February. I absolutely hate the cold but love plowing- if only snow was warm lol

    That road was really icy build up, wow. Seems to have spread the sand mix no problem. Couldn't really tell though if it was covering the width wise of road or not.

      Definitely icy. Not clogging at all; I was impressed. It did the full width. I tried to keep it exactly the width of the road for the video but it’ll spread about 4 lanes wide if you open it up for a parking lot

    Can you tighten the pattern so it doesn’t spread salt on the side of the road. Is that a good mix sand & salt. Would you say 25% salt 75% sand. Or 50 / 50. Great video thanks

      Hey thanks for the comment- there is a shroud that restricts the sand from flying into the banks but it’s also what speed you set it to. I recently added extra extensions for the shroud that I can flip into place for narrow roads. This helps and allows me to have the feed a bit quicker. I’ve used 50/50 and bulk sand which is 25% \ 75% both worked perfect. The vibrator is definitely the key when using any sand mix.

    Thank you for the video. Would you please tell me which brand on sand to use? There’s so many kinds in Lowes. 😂
    I have a gravel road so I can only use sand. I learned my lesson last year where I made a mess of my road with salt.

    How heavy is this salt spreader was it easy to take off with you and another person?

    They all need an auger shroud. The 750 does not come with one so I fabricated one

    • @muskokapropertycare261
      @muskokapropertycare261  3 роки тому

      This comes with a small shroud- works great in parking lots but on this road you need to block a wee bit more to keep the sand in the single lane

    How much do you charge to apply? Per bag or just sq. ft. ?

    How heavy is the unit? Is it easy to instal and uninstall with one person?

      It’s 250lbs empty. They make a cart so you can install it by yourself (I haven’t used) but it takes 2 people to install without it or you have to use a piece of equipment.

    HOW DO YOU LOAD YOUR SALT SANDER ON YOUR TRUCK

    • @muskokapropertycare261
      @muskokapropertycare261  3 роки тому

      By hand with 2 people or tractor. We get enough snow from nov- April that it doesn’t come off much other than when I need to use my dump trailer

    What number were using to spread?

    • @muskokapropertycare261
      @muskokapropertycare261  3 роки тому +1

      this is just on 1. I did this so that I could ensure exact coverage over the road. It took extra time but for testing spreading distances I wanted things to be as exact as possible. On this setting it also spreads almost exactly 1 lane in width.
      I normally spread this road at 3 now and have added extra deflectors to keep the spread narrow (the road is tight) while speeding up the feed.

      Only with one brand of salt- every other salt I’ve used and sand and salt ; including bulk sand and salt has worked well
