    happy birthday ! to your wife ; the Tamiyas worth the extra money their models are usually quite accurate as well as ; better construction , only their decals can be a little inferior

    • @InternationalBritishModeler
      @InternationalBritishModeler  10 років тому

      Anthony Brown Thanks Anthony, I'll tell her you wished her a Happy Birthday! Most definitely worth the little extra in this case especially...it fell together so much more easier than the Mosquito I built, which I thought at the time was an awesome kit by Tamiya, too, but this one seems to be even better that that one! Cheers, Martin : )

      FullMoonDrummer I have a lot of Tamiya kits because I like as easy a build as possible and they are usually quite accurate . They tend to do more Armour . I think Airfix have improved a lot but their quality control lets them down ; such as bunging all the spues in 1 bag . I find their decals better than Tamiya too . Have a nice celebration . I'm well the wrong side of 50 . Finally got out patient for neck problem ; different discs herniated this time C6 and 7 ; may get injections someday ; hopefully before it clears up on it's own lol

    • @InternationalBritishModeler
      @InternationalBritishModeler  10 років тому

      Anthony Brown Yeah, Tamiya kits are brill! Airfix QC des let the team down; when I got the new Lancaster B.II last year, there were two piece missing and one piece broken in the bag- you can see this highlighted in my Lancaster video. But, you're right, Airfix's newer decals are the bomb! Sorry to hear you've got two more herniated discs....painful! It's my C4 and C7 that are shot, so I feel your pain mate. Cheers, Martin : )

      FullMoonDrummer Thanks Martin ; the scan was in August!! so I'm not sure how relevant it is now ; they've promised to follow up and arrange injections . it's a lot better than August ; they often resolve about 80% without treatment . Look forward to more Skyraider ; got to be one of the awesome ground attack planes ever such a long endurance designed in WW2

    • @InternationalBritishModeler
      @InternationalBritishModeler  10 років тому

      Anthony Brown Good luck, hope the injections work for you! It is an awesome ground attack plane and "Update #2" was released this afternoon ready for your viewing pleasure! ; )~

      Adrian Short Hello Adrian, yes, this kit is a dream so far with our well everything is just falling into place. It's unnerving in the sense that I'm wondering what is it that has to go wrong, this is too good to be true! Thanks for watching and have a great weekend! Cheers, Martin : )

    Ahoy Martin
    Great video and a great kit that is a beautiful kit of the Able Dog miles better then the old Monogram kit I got to get me one of these someday. you will make Sandy shine buddy I seen a lot of these during my naval career aboard the old Corel Sea and Ranger. We pulled in and dropped anchor at Cam Rhan Bay I seen a squadron of these Sandys in action the flying dump truck can deliver one hell of a punch they were the last of the piston engine aircraft. They served well from 1947 to 1972. Great kit buddy you the man.

      frankie Day Hey Frankie, thanks for watching! I'd love to see one up close and personal like you did in Cam Rhan Bay....such a big power packed beastie of a plane! Cheers, Martin : )

    Quite a big model for a single engine fighter! Tamiya kits are usually very easy to build, so, the modeler can start the painting really quick!

    • @InternationalBritishModeler
      @InternationalBritishModeler  10 років тому

      ALEXANDER SAMOILIS Hello Alexander, yes, she is a brute of a plane for a single engine fighter; long wings, too, to carry all of that ordnance under them, making her look mean and aggressive! She definitely has been easy to build...I got all of that done in one day?! Cheers, Martin : )

      Shane Smyth Hello Shane, thanks for stopping by, much appreciated, and, you're right, it is a beast and so it will compliment my F-4C phantom nicely! They're both aggressive looking beasts, although one is prop and the other jet driven. Have a great weekend mate! Cheers, Martin : )

    I've always said about to manufacturers one was pilots RC kits and the other was Tamiya just shut the glue in the box give it a good shake up opener box and you have a finished model.
    You really had a lot done is such a short time but it seems there was no fitting issues with your one. This looks like another great model built from you and a fast one. Alan

    • @InternationalBritishModeler
      @InternationalBritishModeler  10 років тому

      mademodeller Hello Alan, thanks for stopping by and watching mate, always appreciated! Yeah, you're absolutely right about that; these Tamiya kits just fall together, they are so well engineered! And so, it has taken me no time at all to get to this stage! Have a great weekend mate! Cheers, Martin : )

I'm going to have a panic attack before the weekend is over....I need to get that styrene back in my hands! Cheers : )

    That is very fast going on the Skyraider, well done, Vietnam aircraft did have some great schemes both the Navy and Airforce so I can well understand the appeal.

      ChancerNW Hello Len, thanks for stopping by mate, and yes, she's flying along (no pun intended). I have to commend Tamiya for that, the engineering is irresistibly perfection personified! Have a great weekend mate! Cheers, Martin : )

    Nice to see you doing the Skyraider ; it looks a good kit ; you've made loads of progress . I guess you've got your colours ready . Personally I like it when a kit goes together well ; with out a lot of boring work . It's going to look great I know .

    • @InternationalBritishModeler
      @InternationalBritishModeler  10 років тому

      Anthony Brown Hello Anthony, thanks for watching! It's so well engineered, it just fell together, so I couldn't put it down. Tonight I fitted the ailerons, the exhausts and the engine cowling, cleaned everything down with Isopropyl Alcohol, then primed everything...the plane, bombs, drop tank, air-brakes and rocket pods. I wanted to get as much done before I go to bed, because tomorrow is my Wife's 50th B'Day party starting at 1.00pm and will be ging on all day. Then Sunday will be a recuperation day! So, nothing else will get done until next week now. But, the next job will be airbrushing the underside and the drop tank light grey and airbrushing all the bombs and rocket pods olive green. After that, it'll be creating paper masks, cutting them out and making a start on the upper 3 color camo scheme. I'll be using the same 3 colors that I used for the F-4C Phantom, except the dark green and the tan colors, I will be adding some white to tone them down a little. Have a great weekend, mate! Cheers, Martin : )

      @InternationalBritishModeler  10 років тому

      paips4 Hello John, thanks for watching mate! I love this plane, too....it's a beast with all the ordnance under its wings, and, it will be a great companion for the previously built F-4C Phantom! Two aggressive beastly looking birds side by side, both packing plenty of whoop-ass! Have a great weekend, mate! Cheers, Martin : )

    • @InternationalBritishModeler
      @InternationalBritishModeler  10 років тому

      Jake Cutter Hey Steve, thanks for stopping by mate. It is "easy" in regard to how well it goes together, but there's a ton of parts and details that go into the finished product. It should look pretty mean and aggressive when done. Have a great weekend mate! Cheers, Martin : )

    Beast of an aircraft - I bet it's huge when compared to a ww2 era prop aircraft. Look forward to the build

    • @InternationalBritishModeler

      Armour Empire It is a beast and it does overshadow my Spitfire and BF109E....a great war horse of the Vietnam era! Thanks for watching! Cheers, Martin : )

    • @Flingwing24
      @Flingwing24 2 роки тому

      Technically it was a WW2 aircraft sometimes referred to as the Dauntless 2. It just didn't make it into service in time but really came into its own in Korea and then SEAC. As you know it's CAS capacity sewed the seed for the A10

  • @leozh-l3040
    @leozh-l3040 10 років тому +1

    Sure to look very aggressive once its done there! Same with most US military aircraft I'll say! Love the look of the A-1! It's just such a brute of an aircraft that it's beautiful!
    Cheers,

    Speaking of Vietnam aircraft, the classic Revellogram F-105 would be a great aircraft to build next. You could build the F/G two-seat Wild Weasel, or the D heavy bomber. Either way, I'd love to see someone professinaly build one!

    • @InternationalBritishModeler
      @InternationalBritishModeler  10 років тому

      Bennett Lawhorne Hello Bennett, thanks for watching and commenting, much appreciated! I'd love to build every aircraft in existence, except for civil airline planes, but I don't think I have enough time to do that. The "Wild Weasel" is a cool looking subject that would go nice with this aircraft and my previous build, the F-4C Phantom. Go check out my "Final Reveal" video for that one if you like aircraft from the Vietnam era, it's the video right before this one. Have a great weekend mate! Cheers, Martin : )

    • @bennettlawhorne7813
      @bennettlawhorne7813 10 років тому +1

      Oh I did see the F-4C's final review. I've seen many pros go at that kit, but not quite as simple yet sophisticated as I saw with yours. And the SPAD is a very nice addition the collection. Happy modeling!

  • @wilcoxjames2
    @wilcoxjames2 10 років тому +1

    Another great subject Martin! I'll follow along on this one too! Did you know that the A-1 Skyraider shot down one of the first Mig-15s of the war? Now you will have another workhorse of the Vietnam era,, now you need a "Thud".

    • @InternationalBritishModeler
      @InternationalBritishModeler  10 років тому

      James Wilcox Hello James, thanks for stopping by : ) I did hear about that from another modeler, that this beast claimed one of the first MiG kills. A Thunderchief would be a nice addition to this "Vietnam Era" collection I seem to be starting presently! Enjoy the rest of your weekend! Cheers, Martin : )

    Hi Martin whose been a busy chappy.You have done a lot.Mojo on turbo or what! The cockpit area looks amazing.Think I am going to start using Tamiya paint it drys so much quicker. The pilot looks super mate.Great progress ;)

    • @InternationalBritishModeler
      @InternationalBritishModeler  10 років тому

      Warren Blanch Hello Warren, thanks for watching mate! I don't have turbo mojo, it's just so well engineers, it's falling together, and so, I couldn't put it down! Tamiya is the best for Airbrushing, mixed with Tamiya X-20A Thinners, but if you hairy-stick brush it, mix it with some isopropyl Alcohol to thin it down. Tamiya paint when hairy-stick brushed, tends to drag off and is a pain, but mixed with the Isopropyl, it goes on really smooth and easily and dries really quick. Cheers, Martin : )

    • @InternationalBritishModeler
      @InternationalBritishModeler  10 років тому

      UKscalemodeller Hey Ian, thank for watching...and yes, the whole cockpit tub and canopy area is very small and cramped. I would have felt claustrophobic as a Pilot flying one of these. Have a great weekend mate! Cheers, Martin : )

  • @rogerhull9524
    @rogerhull9524 10 років тому +1

    Looking good! The cockpit is quite small relative to the overall size of the aircraft. Wouldn't have wanted to be on the business end of all that ordinance. Boom!

    • @InternationalBritishModeler
      @InternationalBritishModeler  10 років тому

      Roger Hull Hello Roger, thanks for watching, much appreciated! Yes, I was thinking the same thing when putting the cockpit together, just how small it is and how claustrophobic it must have been for the Pilot. That's the reason I bought this model....all of that gorgeous ordnance on the underside that makes it look so aggressive and beastly! She'll compliment my Phantom F-4C perfectly! Have a great weekend, mate! Cheers, Martin : )
