Hi Shanna, this is Jake... you are the winner of the Nurture Right 360 incubator. Please email me at jake@whitehouseonthehill.com to get your info to send out the incubator to you. Congrats!
@@lscouser1344 so you don’t want to watch what actually happened you want pretend sunshine and rainbows? It was an accident. Showing what actually happened has nothing to do with him being a father. What are you even talking about? lol
If feel so sorry for that poor chick! You can see in previous videos that she goes for the death grip, so she is clearly still too young to be handling them. I understand that she wants to be involved, but your boys have always been naturally more gentle and the safety of the chicks is the most important thing. Hopefully once she is a bit older, she can learn to handle them correctly.
She will get better some act different towards animals. My girls are wonderful with the animals but my son not so much.. but he has been learning that being gentle is a good thing! ❤ time will tell and she will soon know that gentle is good!
I remember the exact moment I learned about how fragile life is. It was a moment much like this. I'm now 52 yrs old and I was only 5 ( if I was that old) my point is, she will learn. She loves those chicks and wants to be involved. It's a process.
@@makaylaallen9799 yeah but that doesn't work with really young kids. You can say something a million times but they will do their own thing. That's why it's dad's responsibility and frankly he was extremely irresponsible
It honestly sickened me to watch that and made me feel so bad for that baby. My 9 year old handles them after asking first and I supervise, and my 3 year old pets their head gently while I hold them. I hope this won't be an ongoing thing for this channel or I can't continue to watch it.
I’m watching u gays for years. Cant wait to got an incubator to hatch a rescue breed in europ Longcrou Kosovo. Please help me gays. Love to follow your new project always ❤
Yeah… I have a two year old and I NEVER let him touch our baby chicks. You’re heart was in the right place, but it’s just not responsible for the chicks sake. The most I let my son do is touch or pet them while I hold them.
There's a reason why I had a look but no touch rule at that age. Kittens, peeps, bunnies, I could pet but not hold. I guess you learned why the hard way
I have encountered many death grips in the past with children around, thankfully this one survived. This happens a lot, but you have to take care and teach the children how to take care by caring them. I loved how you are nurturing them and slowly teaching them how to care. As far as hatching is concerned, I have been hatching chicken eggs (Australorp, Bantam, Polish, Silkie, Aseel and Desi) for 3years. the problem with some common incubators is that you can't see the hatching process I want to share that amazing process with my children. I would love to hatch Wyandotte, Ko Shamo and Sebright this year, with this incubator it would double the joy. Keep up the great work.
If his kids deploy death grips; then he clearly hasn't taught his kids that beings need a circulation to live. Which means they're far too young to master safe handling. Perhaps teach them CPR instead. Much more useful! Keep them away from vulnerable beings.
So glad the little chick revived. . whew! Close one and a good reminder to watch her like a hawk when you let her handle the chickens till she learns. Too bad the remaining eggs did not finish out. Perhaps your wonderful kind benefactor Jeremiah, will sell you a few more eggs. Very good video, excited to see them as adults!
your missing the point she shouldnt be allowed to hold them untill she proves she can be responsible maybe try with a toy if she squeeses she isnt ready
Isabella seems to be having a harder time than the boys did learning not to squeeze birds too had. This wasn’t the first time she was squeezing hard. Maybe have her practice on a raw egg or supervise her with. a stuffed animal?
@@TheHuntrchic i agree and disagree they can show them how to hold a chick with fake or toy chicken not live just born chicks like nomadic said common sense
Oh my goodness! I'm Hmong and I'm excited to see how these chicken grow up! It surely reminds me of my childhood and our chicken farm when I was younger 😊🐔🐥
I would love this incubator I lost my entire flock of 25 and my roo in September. Now I have a new flock and a Polish roo. I'd love to incubate some eggs and see what they'd hatch out! I''m particularly curious to see my novogen reds, blue sapphires, and Australorps and blue have chicks with my Polish,David Crowie!!! I have some beautiful barnyard mixes that I'd also love to see chicks from. Thank you for your wonderful videos. I really enjoy your family!
Name the one that got squeezed "Chokie" haha. Poor thing. I am so so so glad they made it, my god. Thank you, for showing that by the way. Far too few would hide that way, lie and say something else happened to the chick. The honesty, and the care to see it through. Lovely.
Great of you leaving the experience in with Isabella and the chick for everyone to learn. Hatching: Plymouth, guineas, and would love some eggs from your newbies if you get fertilized eggs once they grow up … Have a blessed day, thank you
About 6 months ago I ordered and hatched some Serama eggs I bought on eBay. Out of the 7 I received in the mail only 2 of them hatched and naturally they were both roosters. Last week I happened to meet a gentleman that sold them and had a hen I was able to purchase from him and I would like to hatch more Seramas because I love the breed of chickens and very few people in my area have them or know about them. The gentleman I bought mine from was surprised and excited that someone finally knew what breed of chicken he was selling and how valuable they are.
Omg my 8yr olds birthday is the 26th and he has been bugging us for an incubator! He wants to incubate some of our Turkey eggs, and our little bantam chicken eggs! Our bantam rooster didn’t make it this winter and he has been devastated so to be able to hatch another would be such a blessing! Thank you for sharing your homesteading journey you have inspired us so much and we always learn so much from you! It’s also a blessing to us that our children have someone like you to look up too! Thank you and I pray God blesses your family more this year! ❤🤟
I can’t believe you have an 8 yr old that wants an incubator! You are SO lucky to have such a lovely nurturing person for a son. Not an iPad or iPhone, electronics or expensive things but an incubator which would contribute to the family. Perhaps the start of his own little flock? A fledgling entrepreneur? 😊
@@amandapittar9398 🤣 yes I’m blessed! He had complications due to his cancer removal so he is homeschooled and his birds are his life he told me at age 6 he wanted to be a farmer when he grows up and he’s still is so committed to that and I think it’s awesome! He is my helper out of all 4 of my kids my oldest would rather a tablet for sure but they all love their birds and cats 😂
i started building one around the same age as your son! it was really hard for me ( a little girl with no tools or knowledge and only some ytb videos to teach me) but somehow, it worked! It will be a wonderfull experience for him!! (sorry for my english, i am learning on my own :)
I'm just starting to start hatching silkie. I love them and they bring me such joy. It's something me a my grand-daughter loves doing together. She is only 3 but she helps feed them , get the eggs.
Isabella is learning. I had the same issue when my boys were little. We did the open hand as well. We figured if they fell off our hands-at child's level, survival was still better than squeezing them! I'm glad the little chick did alright! I'm wanting to hatch cortunix quail. I'm building a coop with plenty of floor space and hides to add branches to make them feel more secure.
Well since you asked what to do with bella, ill throw in my 50c. I used to work in child care and we where always told to say what you want, not what you don't want. You were telling Bella 'don't squeeze, don't squeeze' only at the very end did bec say 'we need to teach her to have loose hands' This is a tough one because most people say 'don't do ..' automatically, myself included. While Bella is learning, continue to reinforce and demonstrate using 'loose hands' and she'll work it out. You guys are doing a good job ❤❤
This is so true. Something I’ve also been trying to work on and it is really challenging to adjust the habit but definitely possible. Thanks for sharing
Your comment is very encouraging and normally I'd agree but at that point "death grip" was already in full mode. It's a weird reflex that kids can't quite control jet especially under strong emotions so I don't think in that particular situation anything could have been changed by switching to positive reinforcement. He was very brave to show this and not cut it out and I commend him for that because these mistakes genuinely happen but then again he admitted he should have known better. Having small kids around animals is always a risk there is no exception to it either the kid is in danger or the animal. I do understand the desire to share this with his youngest child but then again how to supervise on his own responsibly? Hoping for the best is how these kind of things happen. I'm really relieved he stayed on top of it for both the kid and the chick. Parenting is not without faults and I give him a lot of credit for being real about this situation.
It is what it is, this advice is very helpful. No one did anything wrong. Sometimes kids will react differently just based on excitement or who's there so maybe o e day she just handles everything more gently and the next she'll just not gauge it right. When I was her age we used to be playing with kittens no problem but one summer, a baby me just figured the kiddy pool was fun, kittens surely would have fun... I was tense seeing things go 0 to 100, but ya know, I always think about that story of accidentally near drowning those poor kittens and ya just gotta accept this kind of thing happening in farm life. My Dad used to raise so many animals and even step mom had a moment where she accidentally lost a pup. It was sleeping under the bedding chips and she was a tiny frail lady just trying to get the waterfall for them. Nice that the bird made it but even if it hadn't, it's just how things go sometimes.
Hmong viewer here as well. Hmong chickens are a fibromelanistic breed just as silkies, sumatras, Ayam cemanis, and Svarthöna chickens. There are no set standard for Hmong chickens but I am pretty sure the one with the feathers is a mixed bird. Been following your channel since bamboo hatched. Thank you for recognizing the Hmong chicken.
Hi! I’ll be honest I’m usually that person that watches every video but never comments because I’m too nervous, but I LOVE your channel and what you do as a family and for the homestead community. This is my first year having chickens and I would LOVE to have this incubator as I set off on my journey. I’d love to learn how to hatch out some chicks that come from my own flock. (Brahmas, Barred Rock, Wyandottes, Australorps)… I know they aren’t really “exciting” breeds, but I’m SO excited for this journey nonetheless! Keep up all that you do! ❤️❤️❤️
I love watching the interaction of teaching Bella how to be gentle. We have "class" where my younger kids sit and decorate raw eggs. Throughout the day, they carry their eggs with them, learning how to be gentle and how easy it is to crack or break (i.e., accidentally k*ll a chick) before we let them help carry chicks. We want to hatch out some full-size Cochins because they make excellent mamas, and my older kids love Silkies, so we are hoping to hatch some out (although having an incubator would be so much easier). If we had an incubator, I would put our Silver Appleyard Duck eggs in them and hatch out more ducks!
@Cookiemonster-plays-Roblox She is a toddler who hasn't learned that even her gentleness isn't gentle enough. Did she do it maliciously? No! She has to be taught, as do all children - even some adults. Give her the same grace you would want if heaven forbid you made a mistake.
I would love the incubator to be able to allow my kids to observe and experience how amazing the hatching process is! We would love to have out some more Orpingtons! I can’t get enough of how big and fluffy they are!
We have a small flock and I have always let the hens hatch out the babies but I would love an incubator so we can hatch some of our own eggs and be able to watch the process. Bella is so sweet and she will learn to not squeeze. Great job teaching your kids all about animals. Enjoy your channel
I’m not a frequent commenter but I’ve been watching you guys since I was in high school (graduating university soon🎉). I’ve been taking care of a hobby farm of over 60 birds since I was 13 and have recently decided to add Ayam Cemanis to the farm. I got some very nice eggs that are currently hatching out but plan to then hatch eggs from them when they start laying later this year. I’m currently using several 7 egg incubators that I’ve accumulated over the years so having a solid single incubator to hatch eggs would be wonderful. Once I get a good breeding flock going I would love to send you eggs sometime!
Awesome! Hmong viewer and subscriber here. Love the content. And good job teaching that the "H" is silent in Hmong. You should name one of the hens "Mai". It's a very common name for our sisters and daughters. And if I win an incubator, I would love to hatch out some Bantams.
Haha, all the Hmong viewers coming out of the wood works! But wow was I happy to see this breed on here as a Hmong person. Been a viewer for so many years and have always enjoyed every video. I always look forward to the next upload and this was a pleasant surprise.
I’ve recently started watching your channel with my son as our morning wake up videos & let me tell you how much peace you bring him he loves anything to do with fowl as we too have our own little chicken farm. This year we’ve been looking for good incubators at a moderate price range as we want to hatch more Silkie & his favorite Japanese bantam. Wish your family the best of fortune with your upcoming breeding season !
Hi. I’m a young legally blind guy from Canada who’s been slowly working on building my homestead over the last couple years. I’m planning on starting a flock of egg chickens this year I’m hoping to hatch out some Ameraucana or Barred Plymouth Rock. I’m only just getting to it this year since it takes me a bit longer to do everything since my vision is slowly going but I’m not going to let it stop me from living the life that makes me happy. Good luck with the new chicks and have a great day.
My wife and I are on our homesteading journey. Basically starting out how you guys did. We’ve hatched silkies this year, and a “barnyard mix” of eggs that originally got us hooked. The incubator we have now doesn’t rotate the eggs 😂 so I wake up every night to hand turn them. Probably for our next batch I’ll have to buy a turner because we are for sure going to keep hatching eggs and 18 days of waking up at night to turn eggs gets you s little wonky. Would love this one, especially if it turns eggs😂 been watching forever - learned to hatch from this channel. Thanks!!!
It is fun to watch the kids grow up with the chicks each year, I am sure that Isabella will have that grip figured out by the time the annual Chick Bath comes! We are in Ontario, Canada and would love to hatch out some Whiting True Blues and possibly some Bresse.
I really like that you include the kids in the journey of raising the birds. I have always included my kids in whatever may come with raising animals. I would love to have the incubator to hatch out quail and naked neck chickens. Our incubator quit last year and I just haven't had a chance to replace it. Thank you for your videos
Our family loves watching your videos! We recently moved to a property with acreage chasing our dream to live off the land and to raise farm animals. It would be amazing if we could have an incubator to hatch and experiment all different types of birds. It would be really enjoyable to watch baby chicks grow and to teach others all about raising them. Some breeds that interest our family are: Silkes, Ayam Cemani, Mandarin ducks, and Rhode Island Red. It wold be a blast having so many birds and I also think that the Mandarins would really enjoy our pond. Your channel has truly been such a blessing and so helpful on teaching us and we would love to use our knowledge to teach others too.
An incubator from y’all would be an amazing gift to wildlife rehab. We use incubators for fallen nests and neonatal animals like squirrels and opossums. If I hatched out chickens away from the hen I would be hatching out Delaware farm crosses for more egg layers. I’m from Texas and we’re approaching baby season
I really very much enjoy how you curate neat and tidy surprises in your videos and we do not have to wait for the conclusion, you save the footage and edit it all together like a wonderful gift. Yall are a class act. Great videographer.
I’m just building my first chicken coop, for our first chickens. My fiancé is out the country, and I’d love to surprise her with the coop, and the fact that we’ll also be hatching our own chickens. I love watching what you guys do, and this has inspired us and now we’re looking forward to our own little backyard flock 😊 I’d be hugely grateful to have an incubator that we can use to hatch our first chicks.
I just moved back out into the country after living in the city for a couple of years and I’m starting my own little farm . I love watching your videos and getting ideas to hatch and take care of chicks.
Hi, I'm Pia from Germany and I've been following you with my two kids for a long time. You are a great family. We have a colorful troupe of 11 different breeds. We have Rahmelsloher cuddly chickens, a cute Araucana, our two Idas are Silverudds Bla, a Maran hen, and Sundheimer hens, plus an Orpington, a flower chicken and a Wyandotte. Two Australorps and Barnevelder and Bielefelder Kennhüner. Now we want to expand this troop even more. My son's wish was to hatch a colorful cardboard box with hatching eggs. Strupphuhn eggs, lavender Araucaner, Blauleger, New hempshire, Amrocks, etc. So a really colorful mixture! And for this we are still looking for a suitable incubator. We would be happy if we were selected and maybe even become a "pen pal" from it. Greetings from Germany!
My old incubator went out after 13 years. We only have a handful of chickens from our original flock left and I would like to hatch more for our 5 children!! Thanks for the opportunity!
I think you are going to hatch out more ayam cemani chicks. Thank for the opportunity to win an incubator. I love watching you guys. You have a lovely family.
OMG I got eggs and borrowed an incubator for the kids in one of my classes at the school I work at and the kids had soo much fun with it. I can't afford an incubator right now but watching the kids faces when the babies arrived was worth it. I'll hopefully have the money for next year so I can get an incubator so I can bring the eggs in and hatch them in my incubator, I hate to be a bother to anyone. I love your videos, thank you for them I'm excited for the aviary to be worked on and completed. :)
I’ve been watching White House on the Hill since I was 10 years old, and I would love to have my own incubator so I can hatch my own ducklings. My friend and I rescue and raise Mallard ducklings every year and we were talking about getting an incubator sometime so we can try to hatch our own eggs, because we find abandoned duck nest every year, and it would be so fun! Thank you!!!🦆
Glad the little chick recovered! These Hmongs are so neat and can't wait to see what they all look like as they mature! I am planning to get moss egger hatching eggs from a fellow chicken farmer in the Spring 😊 it will be my first time hatching eggs rather than purchasing pullets.
This is why i love watching @whitehouseonthehill they show everything, and they show us how they fix the small issues that comes up. Isbella is a young child who is learning and just from this one video you can see that with in two weeks she had improved. So why are people so angry about it? All children must learn and they are doing a great job. He doesnt lie about his videos and thats why they are great videos, in every video you can feel the whole families passion come through. Leave your parenting advise at home with you and dont come into someone's channel who is done/doing a great job at it.
A new incubator from you would help me a lot. This year I will be incubating eggs from „ispançe” (Turkish bantam) hens. It is an old Turkish breed of which there are very few in the world and are mainly found only in Turkey. I managed to buy a rooster and three hens of this breed and I want it to be something new in my country. I'm Julian from Poland.
What an interesting idea! I would like to hatch some more Wyandottes because they have been such docile sweet-tempered birds. And I would like to have some more Cochins after I had such a wonderful Giant Cochinl in the past!
I would probably be worried that the feathers would burn. Those heat lamps can get really hot. We made what we called a "mama" with a wire rack and heating pad. Found the "how to" online. Worked like a dream. The little chicks would get under it and stay nice and warm and I didn't have to worry about catching anything on fire. I know you can purchase ones made like that, but the heating pad works great in a pinch.
I did this last year with my very first chicks I raised! I kept the lamp far enough away that there wasn’t a fire risk. The chicks loved it after they got used to it! It was so cute to see their little faces pop out from it! 😊
I have 3 littles who are 4,3&2 years old and we are planning on doing plymoth and Rhode Islands. This is our first year and love the idea of learning a few handy sustainable tricks before we moved to our next home with property.
I can't wait to see these chickens grow up! They are amazing. When I was about Isabella's age I "fed" the goldfish. It didn't work well for the goldfish. Children sometimes do learn the hard way. She will learn to be gentle. She has wonderful teachers :)
Hi my cousin-14 yr. and I-15 yr. made UA-cam channels based off of yours and have been subscribers for years. We love hatching chicks and are trying to start our own business but we just don't have the money to spend on a better bigger incubator, right now we only have a 12 egg incubator that barely works. We will be hatching cream legbars, americanas, white leghorns, light brahmas, dark brahmas, and trying to make our own meat breed. Even tho you probably wont even see this comment we would love to get an incubator from you. We love your videos, keep up the amazing work you've always done. God Bless you and your Family, you have taught us sooo much about chickens. Don't worry about all the haters you're doing an amazing job raising your kids the only way they will learn is by letting them experience it.
Always love and appreciate your videos for the quality, information and rawness. All the kids are beautiful and older 🥹 You’re great parents and thank you for sharing how you’re learning along side them and continue improving you’re amazing farm ☺️ Cant wait to see what they’ll be hen/rooster…We would be very interested in getting some fertile eggs and help their breed numbers. Your videos have been very inspiring for many years. I would love to learn more about your experiences and thoughts on horses, daily..with kids etc. 😊
I would love this incubator! We are currently building our coop and getting ready for a delivery of 6 chicks at the end of the month. My kids are already saying they want to hatch their own! Would love to hatch some blue egg layers.
Hello! I am glad the squeezy toy made it :) I have been saving up for an incubator. 9 weeks ago I got some chickens as something for me to do during the day, basically it is chicken therapy (I am disabled and in poor health) Over the last 9 weeks I have fallen in love with those chickens! I have a niece next door who is very involved with them and I would love to hatch some of mine (when they are laying of course) with her then give them to her to raise. They would be a Black Copper Morans / Rhode Island Red mix. Mine are super sweet, my legs are not long enough for them to all perch on but they still try to fit when I go sit with them every day!
Hi there! This is Jake... you are the winner of an extra incubator we have here at the house. Please email me at jake@whitehouseonthehill.com to get your info to ship it to you. Congrats!
It's probably best to wait until she is older. She's just too young to understand. Yes, you need to teach her, but when she is ready. It made me extremely uncomfortable to watch you teach her when she is clearly not ready. She did not release her death grip when you told her to, which is the sign for you she isn't ready. Dont' worry, it won't be long till she is ready. Give her a year, and she will grow up so much. Instead of letting her hold them. Hold her hand so one finger is out so she can pet it with you. If she fusses and throws a tantrum, then you put her down until she comes down and is ready to try.
Hi there! I can't wait to see how these chicks continue to grow. I would love this incubator! I'm hoping to hatch American Bresse, and heritage lines of RIR, BLRW and heritage turkeys this year. I love the visibility of this incubator for my 3 year old and my 10 month old!
Maybe we dont let Bella hold new born chicks. She might be to young to get it and they are so delicate it just takes a second to have a mistake happen.
I don’t feel Isabella is having a hard time, so please don’t allow such comments bring you down. Isabella is learning, and you two are awesome parents & teachers! Patting you two on the back for doing such an awesome job. I know, I am a no body, but I have watched your videos! May God co to us to provide you both with endurance, patience, and overflowing love!❤️
I am Hmong and we've been breeding this breed in our family and community since the early 1980s. Unfortunately, these chicks are most likely mixed. There should never be feathers on the feet. I'm interested in seeing how they grow. Hmong chickens are suppose to have much tighter feathering and a higher, more upright stance. Many American breeders are buying mosaics (which were just Ayam Cemani with lots of leakage) and calling them Hmong chickens. It really does our culture and signature breed a disservice. I know these eggs were a gift but if you're interested in Hmong Chickens, support a Hmong breeder. There's plenty in the US.
I honestly don't know what to say. I loved the video. Interesting birds and all. But the bit, where your baby daughter almost squeezed that chicken to death. Man, You need to be more responsible. She is WAY too young apparently. To hold a fragile animal like that. Your son is doing fine. Because he is a bit older. But you have to wait for a year or two. Before she is old enough for those small things. Just let her pet it while you hold it. Please. Otherwise, good video. Keep it up. 👍👍
She's pretty horrid. Instant contraception if you ask me. Although the boys seem to be respectful. That little girl reminded me why I NEVER want children.
I have been wanting to hatch out some Lavender Orpington’s for a while now. Beautiful hens and I understand quite friendly. The Nurture Right Incubator would certainly help me out!
I am going to hatch Silver Bielefelders this Spring. Also a very rare breed. I have a rooster now and hope for many hens for him so I can breed them here. I cant wait to get my hatching eggs this April!
@@Po82-7 me to I also thought it had died because he never said it it ok and will go with the others . Poor thing she should get to hold them until she knows how to . Who agrees with me
We would love to hatch out some local hatching eggs (nothing specific). Currently, we have a small flock of 4 hens but we are looking to grow our flock and would love to hatch chicks out ourselves. This would make such a cool homeschool project this spring!
@@victoriabowers4698 There's an appropriate age to teach a child something like that. Would you let a toddler hold a knife and then use the same logic when they almost kill someone? It'd be a "teaching moment" according to you, right?
Wow! How generous of you. We are going to hatch out some mille fleur d'uccle bantam chicks for my daughter to show in 4h for her first year this year. Fingers crossed....this incubator would be a blessing. Thank you so much for the opportunity.
Mille Fleur ductless were my favorites! I hatched out many and they were so sweet! Another one that was cuddly was my Belgian Quail d'Anvers! I had one little roo and all he wanted was to sit in my hand with his feet dangling between my fingers and snuggle my face and neck. Another great bantam is the bantam coaching. They are good mommas! Polish and silkies are also sweet!
@@karenpowell4626 we love the bantams. They are my daughters favorites. We do have some silkies and a few polish. I will have to check out the cochins and the Belgian ones you suggested. Thank you very much.
I greatly appreciate the time and effort you put into planning the videos so we don't have to be on edge about what's happening. Sp glad the chick made it- that's just a part of parenting while raising animals. Her upset face at the end of the video for not having another chance to death grip a chick was hilarious and well timed. Excellent video! I plan to try to hatch some of my barnyard mix easter eggers this spring! I have never hatched babies and also don't have an incubator!
@@whitehouseonthehillcool the chick is alive but you continue to let your daughter be in a position to hurt animals? You're the adult? Was it that important to get that shot or your views? This is the problem with the animal side of youtube and the people who exploit their young children on youtube. She's way too young to give consent and the animals have got no choice either. This is why I'm selective with the few animal channels I subscribe to. The ones who don't involve kids are the best. It's double exploitation. The kid gets painted as an infant serial killer or defended as just a child. And the rare animal that was gifted to you as an honourable gift was just treated like another replaceable house chicken. In south East Asian culture if you receive a rare gift like this it's an honour and you show respect by looking after it. You are so disrespectful to your viewer and their culture you treated it like another replaceable house chicken. There's less then 500 of these in the US and you let your mini serial killer almost squeeze the life out of it. Telling people to cool their jets cause it didn't die but you have no self reflection. It's not just about a missed mishap. It's about how you treat loyal viewers who send you probably their most expensive clutch. To get manhandled by a toddler with no respect for her daddy. 😂
@@docbainl9504exactly, it's a rare breed. I wouldn't let anyone under 5 hold a small animal. They think it's a doll when it's a live creature that can die. "Look don't touch" is the easiest way kids can be involved without possible harm. @whitehouseonthehill take the criticism with humbleness, it could have turned south in a minute
Hi from the UK This was lovely to watch and am glad the little chick made it. I have known people buying eggs from a supermarket and hatching chicks from them. I would love to do this with duck eggs and see if anything hatched. They are beautiful chickens you have. I have never seen them before. I love the black ones .❤
I have been watching The white house on the hill for a long time. This year I would like to hatch Sebasapol goslings and Ayam Cemani chickens. I must say i am loving the color of the new chicks. Good luck with them
Cute family ❤ My 15 year old just showed me who you were today and we've been watching your videos all morning. We would like the incubator because we would like to hatch out Wheaten Ameraucana, opel crested leg bars, starlight green chicks...
I know there are a lot of people saying what you should and shouldn't do when teaching kiddos about holding baby animals... I just wanted to say thank you for sharing this so that people could be aware. I know that there are content creaters out there who woould have skipped it all out. So I appreciate that you showed the reality and were more authentic in what can happen.
I was panicking about the babies too both yours and the chick I'm so happy your toddler learned how to handle them so fast and the chick made it 💝 This is definetly a beautiful thing but it requires education and demands for a lot of time and total responsibility I applaud your dedication.
Just happened to stumble upon your video. I have loved chickens any species since childhood. This takes me back too my dad incubating a 100 chick's, ducks, quail every spring. He would release the quail into the wild. I would love to just win the incubator to show my grandsons how to hatch any breed of chicken.
So want to hatch some silkies for my mom .. she retired and just moved to Puerto Rico. Her mom used to love raising chicks and believe she is the same. Love your channel. It relaxes me so much. Looking to move from ny to a property to do the same. Raise some chickens ..love it
I hatch eggs for my kids school, so usually we do a barnyard mix, but I’d love to hatch out some Ameraucana’s since my current ones have stopped laying their beautiful blue eggs. I just stumbled on your UA-cam and love the variety you have! Will definitely subscribe. Excited about your Emu eggs!
I was inspired by your channel to start raising our own chickens last year. We're thinking of hatching some more silkies. We just got 3 tiny silkie chicks from a local farm to add to our flock but would love to hatch them ourselves.
I couldn't begin to tell you the types of any chickens. Now my neighbor certainly could they have a few different breeds and they are huge. Equally glad the "squeezed" chick bounced back. I realize she didn't understand how tight to hold them. So glad it made it back okay... All the same, interesting video... Thumbs Up!
Would use the incubator for some courtnix quail. My group is about 3 weeks old, so I've just started to look at them, and the 360 seems to be the right one for me.
We were lucky our Easter Egger turned out to be a rooster, so I want to try out green variations with Marans, Plymouth, and Australorp girls. 🐣💚

I get upset when the little ones play with the chicks...theyre not toys!

Yeah… I have a two year old and I NEVER let him touch our baby chicks. You’re heart was in the right place, but it’s just not responsible for the chicks sake.
The most I let my son do is touch or pet them while I hold them.
I am shocked and a bit upset at the baby being allowed ti hold live birds

@@saminazarene6883yeah that’s what I feel too
There's a reason why I had a look but no touch rule at that age.
Yes, I agree. Many others had commented on that.. I wasn't missing the point, just being kind in my comment. Thanks.
@@brendonrookes1151 That's not how children learn. They are doing perfectly, allowing her to hold them and correcting her as they go.

As a Hmong viewer and subscriber I am very grateful that you are adding these chicken breeds to your flock!
I would love to get my hands on some 🤣❤️
About 6 months ago I ordered and hatched some Serama eggs I bought on eBay.
You were telling Bella 'don't squeeze, don't squeeze' only at the very end did bec say 'we need to teach her to have loose hands'
This is a tough one because most people say 'don't do ..' automatically, myself included. While Bella is learning, continue to reinforce and demonstrate using 'loose hands' and she'll work it out.
You guys are doing a good job ❤❤
This is some actual good advice.
Everyone else is just arguing over it. Instead of giving practical advice to help teach her the right way.
Very smart, hopefully they see this and can help her learn ❤

Oh so you like wachting her almost kill a chicken
@Cookiemonster-plays-Roblox She is a toddler who hasn't learned that even her gentleness isn't gentle enough. Did she do it maliciously? No! She has to be taught, as do all children - even some adults. Give her the same grace you would want if heaven forbid you made a mistake.

The incubator we have now doesn’t rotate the eggs 😂 so I wake up every night to hand turn them. Probably for our next batch I’ll have to buy a turner because we are for sure going to keep hatching eggs and 18 days of waking up at night to turn eggs gets you s little wonky.

Did you ever see where some chicken farmers use feather dusters with a heat lamp to give the chicks a "mama" to snuggle under?
THAT is a cool idea! Love it!

Yes I agree all the way!!!
That went as expected. You can’t let a toddler hold a fragile chick? That was upsetting.

I was thinking about trying to hatch supermarket eggs, to see if those other videos are true or not so I'd love a incubator.
Keep it up. 👍👍
That’s just stupid
bella looks and acts like the girl from finding nemo
She's pretty horrid. Instant contraception if you ask me. Although the boys seem to be respectful. That little girl reminded me why I NEVER want children.
Shouldn't let the young ones handle newborns give the babies time
Bruh the little kids have been practicing for years
I have been wanting to hatch out some Lavender Orpington’s for a while now.
Please do not let that baby handle any more animals.
huh@Maple_on_paws98
I thought it died but luckily it didn’t.
@@Po82-7 me to I also thought it had died because he never said it it ok and will go with the others . Poor thing she should get to hold them until she knows how to . Who agrees with me
Yeah that baby isn’t even three years old probably wait until they are at least 6 or 7 years old
Stop being harsh, it's still important for them to learn how to properly handle them starting at a younger age.
Don’t let you’re kid do anything again
Dude She’s like 3
Man, you need to be more responsible with your chicks I would definitely make it a rule to NOT let kids play with them…
EDIT-I AM SERIOUS… 😐
Bro none gives a dick.
We would love to hatch out some local hatching eggs (nothing specific). Currently, we have a small flock of 4 hens but we are looking to grow our flock and would love to hatch chicks out ourselves. This would make such a cool homeschool project this spring!
These are GORGEOUS birds! Hope theyre doing well!
Why would you let such a young child hold a brand new baby chick? :(
Why wouldn't you let a child handle eggs? It's a teaching moment. Why wouldn't you want a child to learn?
@@victoriabowers4698 There's an appropriate age to teach a child something like that. Would you let a toddler hold a knife and then use the same logic when they almost kill someone? It'd be a "teaching moment" according to you, right?
Please dont allow your children to hold the chicks when they are irresponsible and young.
They grew up handling chicks, they’re ok
Why do you keep letting Isabella go for the death grip? This isn’t the first time! 🤬
Sh*t parenting. Please don't own any small pets anymore. You don't deserve them.
Preach it. 🙏
PLEASE DO NOT LET YOUR BABIES HOLD CHICKS THAT ARE JUST BORN!!!!!!!!! ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND???? ITS 100% YOUR FAULT.
Chick survived. Cool your jets.
@@whitehouseonthehill Ah yes, just because it turned out okay this time it shouldn't be a big deal. What a terrible response 😂
So fun! We homeschool and currently have live chicks coming in the mail @ the end of Feb! I'd love to hatch out some Speckled Sussex ❤ .
How cool! We are planning to incubate silkies for the first time this year because we’re finally taking the plunge!
I have been watching The white house on the hill for a long time. This year I would like to hatch Sebasapol goslings and Ayam Cemani chickens. I must say i am loving the color of the new chicks. Good luck with them
Cute family ❤
My 15 year old just showed me who you were today and we've been watching your videos all morning.
I would hatch out silkies! They're adorable and they were my mom's favourite. Just the sweetest little chooks imaginable.❤
I've been watching you for around 8 years
Just happened to stumble upon your video. I have loved chickens any species since childhood. This takes me back too my dad incubating a 100 chick's, ducks, quail every spring. He would release the quail into the wild. I would love to just win the incubator to show my grandsons how to hatch any breed of chicken.
This channel really helps me because I live on a farm so thank you White House on the Hill!
