Always cool and entertaining, man. Love hearing the stories. You said something near the end about music that makes you happy and you like it. That's it. That's really the only thing you need in music. It's what music is all about. It's easy to get intimidated by "music people." We do these videos and hope people like what we have to say and what we present. What makes your channel work is your pure enthusiasm. It's hard to quantify our love for music because it's a feeling. It's abstract. I think most of us can relate to that younger version of you who wasn't quite sure what you wanted to do with your life, but you knew it had to be something with music. That's awesome, man. Glad you did this Tag. Have a great 2023 and I hope to see you soon!

I been a record enthusiast for 45 years. Most sites irritate me for various reasons. Your site is not one of them. You are down to earth and passionate about this lifestyle. Keep up the good work and keep on spinning.
I actually discovered funk through the Beastie Boys in the 90’s and blaxploitation films from Blockbuster, it’s amazing genre, it’s fun to collect and it’s cheaper than psych albums, keep me updated on chasing da funk!
Great tag Dillon. I already hit up the Rob Walker but now I want to give this a shot. I still need to grab the newest Bonny Light Horseman. I love their first record. That Ben Harper is killer. I saw him open for Jack Johnson on that tour.

Terrific tag! I've had that Stark Reality on CD for years, I bought it because I was looking for everything Hoagy Carmichael (never heard of that show). Bacamarte is something that I dream of finding.

I think Phish is a band better to see live than to listen to, especially the studio albums. it's a whole experience with the crowd and the changes mid-song to another song and the different setlist every night - just try to ignore the smells of 420 and body odor and watch out for flying glow sticks

I’m not really into funk very much (I think I would be, I just haven’t started exploring it), but here in Dayton, Ohio is the Funk Hall Of Fame! If you ever make a trip to Ohio, it might be worth checking out!

The ONLY problem with this channel, and I do mean the only problem… is that Dillon and I have the same taste in music. Identical. So if he boosts a decently rare record, that thing disappears from discogs, eBay, musicstack, etc within an hour of the video 😂

Great video man! I have basically really similar taste but the last couple of years have really gone down hard with the abstract underground NYC Hip Hop scene. Once I heard Billy Woods' Hiding Places it was all over for me. Woods kind of shits on all other rappers in one sense for me. Plus he has a killer side project with Elucid called Armand Hammer that is incredible. Can't stop throwing my $$ at them for their releases. It's a great fucking time for Hip Hop. And I was never a fan of the genre before. Los Angeles band Orgone is pretty killer in the funk department. I'd swear their last album Los Knights was recorded a few decades back. Cheers! I'd be so chuffed if you got into Woods!!

The vinyl tag is something that is done by multiple people in multiple forms every single year. If I shouted out everyone who ever did one it would be an hour of shoutouts.
@@noblerecords Had no idea there were so many. I thought I had a bit of a finger on the pulse, but I've been wrong before.
There’s a Goodwill a few stores down from my favorite place in town to buy vinyl. A friend who works there went down to Goodwill something like 15 years ago and they had two copies of Stark Reality there, 50 cents a piece. He ended up flipping them for a big haul in trade with a friend, I think.
Oh, and I listened to that Undisputed Truth cover, and I have to think it was heavily heavily influenced by the Buddy Miles version, which blew me away the first time I heard it. The Undisputed Truth’s version sounds so much like Miles’s version. And funk…hell yeah. I’ve been a big funk fan for a long while, and I first got into collecting funk albums through being a hiphop fan, and discovering the original sample sources. I fell down that rabbit hole in the late 90s in the very early days of the interwebs, where I had a huge samples list in a spiral-bound binder I’d carry to stores. The real gateway for me was Paul’s Boutique and trying to find all the stuff they sampled for that, but hiphop in general guided me to the funk. So glad I was collecting funk (and jazz) for the past 30 years or so when it wasn’t so damned expensive, seeing what things go for now!
Badmotorfinger has also been my perfect album for 30 years. Untouchable.

I haven't listened to Phish in 20 years, but the albums I remember digging the most were Farmhouse, and Rift. Farmhouse has a track called If I Could with a female vocalist and there's a line that just melted me way back in '00 or whenever...
My buddy Tommy Burton keeps trying to get me to listen to Southeastern. I need to jump on it. That album cover by Hot Poop is unreal haha.

The living end finally did a repress of white noise on white vinyl in 2022. which is nice. However... I am hoping to either get close or finish my Led zeppelin Japanese pressings with OBI's.
I put the over/under on Dillon getting an OG Stark Reality at 4 weeks now that he shared that as his most desirable want.
Badmotorfinger is my absolute favorite SG album and saw them in a small club for that tour, but Grace is solid as well. Both are "desert island disks' for sure! I'm a big Bonny Light Horseman fan (as well as Anaïs Mitchell solo), and liked how different the new record was (even though I like their debut and how they reworked old folk, country, and spiritual tunes; but distilled and refined as modern indie folk. BTW, if you had told me that Victor Peraino's Kingdom Come was the new Slift record, I would have believed you...I meeean cUmmon!! 🙂🙃🙂😆 Lastly, I'll say I too am not a big Phish listener (maybe born at the wrong time and place...and maybe had too many rabbit holes to head down before theirs) BUT I did really dog 2019's Ghosts Of The Forest and still spin that one now and again; solid listen all the way through IMO.

Outfit by Drive By Truckers that Jason wrote. That's the one that gets me every time. And he would play it every night for years, so every time I saw him live, fat man crying in the crowd. He stopped playing it a couple of years ago, so now I can enjoy his shows. :)

Here's my recommendation for expandin' yer Funk vinyl collection in 2023 'n considerin' you buy thousands o' albums regularly it should be doable. Pick up everything you see by James "Butane" Brown 'n His Famous Flames on the King record label. I assume yer already hip to this. Most o' his earliest records were on King 'n they're all KILLER! The hard part will be findin' clean copies as those records were abused. Just buy everything you find 'n upgrade as you can. That's what I've done over the years. It helped that I worked in used record stores 'n was the only one there who had any real interest in collectin' those rare 'n wondrous albums.

Hey Dillon. I just wanted to say if you like animal album covers, check out 'Fresh Air' by the Baja Marimba Band. Cheap as chips but it has its moments. Check out my vinyl tag.
I really love Soundgarden. In my top 10 favorite bands of all time. That being said...their albums are all pretty damn long. It's great but also by the time I get to the end of the album I've had my fill, so to speak. Maybe most of the releases could've been two releases. Anyone else feel this way?

Hi Noble Records, I am new to your Record store, I have been listening to some of your reports on valuations of records and bits and pieces, I’ve got given a load of 45s last year and some LPs but I’d already got quite a few LPs that I’ve been collected over the years I have the white Beatles album from 1968 it’s probably not worth a lot knowing my luck on the front cover it’s got number 0224767 . With the 4 photos of the Beatles , and booklet of the lyrics, the booklet and lyrics I have a bit of black staining mould I think it’s not bad you can still read everything and on the photos it’s only right at the top it’s worse on the back, And it looks like somebody’s written the initials on the front MC and on the back something similar LMC. The two records look like they are okay I can’t play them at the moment as I’m waiting for a new record it to arrive hopefully the end of next week, As my original record black has packed up and I’ve been quoted €1600 to have it repaired I cannot afford to have that done at the moment so I’ve gone out and bought a cheap record deck instead for the time being, Could you please advise me whether this is worth anything at all as I could do with some extra pennies at the moment,
