Did this on my F30 yeatersay made the job miles easier, thank you. I also tried on my partners F20 as the suspension is very similar but it doesn’t work on the F20.
Nice video, boss! Didnt know this could be done without a compression tool. Thats one thing BMW made easier than other brands, the rear springs being separate to the suspension strut.
i wish i seen this video before i pulled everything off the front of my f30, id tried this previously on a e87 and it didnt seem to drop enough to get the spring out. Im currently struggling with spring compressors to fit new struts
Yeah it was an idea that came to my head. I’ve seen people struggle cause it don’t drop enough to get the springs out.. but as long as you get the tie rod out of the way you can drop it a lot lower
@rizkybusiness Well, guess I'm about to find out. I told my mechanic to lower my car with springs. Went to pick it up today.... He didn't install the springs on the front. And I have a big meeting this weekend. So I am just going to rent a lift for a day and do it myself. (With help ofcourse)
@@rizkybusinessa year later, finally got some h&r super sports. Started the rears and realised (after a few cuts on my hand) that an impact gun is probably a good idea haha.
Nice install video! Unfortunately this does NOT work for f30 Xdrive guys. Just letting y’all know!
@@zeuslee5714 thanks for letting us know! I’ve pinned your comment for the xdrive guys

Glad I can help bro 🤙🏽

Thanks bro! Yeah quite an easy suspension set up to work on
Thank you bro! Ordered Springs today and I'll use this technique ❤
I bought the vogtlands as well. Im just waiting for a good day to install them 😅
Great man! It handles a lot better! No body rolls but prepare for a bit more bumpier ride lol
@Rizky Business awesome, and yeah, as expected with springs, lol but definitely want to minimize the body roll.

Great video! Would you say there would be a bigger gap if have 18” wheels on?😊
Yeah I’d say you would unless you run a thicker wall tyre set up
What wheels are those bro ? f80 CS wheels ?
They’re a copy of the CS wheels
How’s the ride quality?
Stiffer, but handles better
@@rizkybusiness but was it worth it? Thinking about ordering them now
@@SycaShow it’s a cheaper alternative than coilovers. Aesthetically looks pleasing, but I’m not gonna lie it is bumpier as the springs is quite stiff
Will this method work for f30 x drive models?
Honestly I’m not too sure it would work as x drive has less play cause of the drive shaft

@@Notawhitef30 good luck bro hope it goes smoothly
Well... I can confirm that it does NOT work if you have xdrive. So I had to do it the normal way. It was a hassle but I got it done.
@@rizkybusiness
@@Notawhitef30 shit that sucks. At least you got it done man 👍🏽
Is this the 45mm/35mm kit?
45mm super low
Also are you on 19" wheels
@@rossjohnston9377 yep
@@rizkybusiness thanks
Thanks. I’m gonna use this method to install my h&r springs on my f30
Yep man really quite easy if you have all the tools handy

Did you use any specific torque specs when reinstalling the bolts or did you just tighten till it’s tight?
On specific things yes, but the ones with open ended socket, ie. swaybar link and tie rod end, I tighten it till it’s tight
Iam thinking of lowering my m140i mmr or eibach springs 20/30mm iam not sure the way you did it would work on my car
Not to sure either mate as I’ve never seen what the F20 suspension set up looks like
