Paige - as a Physics under and post-grad from the 90s, I just wanted to give you a bucket load of encouragement. I was so enthusiastic when I started uni and couldn't ever imagine wanting to leave. But then after 4 years of hard grind I was very ready to stop studying. Your attitude to your work schedule is fantastic and it will pay off, I promise. Also, my advice would be to study with the sole aim of passing your exams. You have the rest of your life to continue learning, as I have done, focusing on the topics you enjoyed the most (Cosmology was a fave of mine too) and it's much more enjoyable when you're doing it for fun, of course! Go girl, you can do it! (and a few tears are normal)
I burned myself out 2 years ago and I took 6 months off school to recover but to this day I still can’t give a 100% like I used to. Be careful and take care of yourself, because once you go too far it’s a steep climb to get out of it.
Definitely understand the struggle. As a person who naturally stresses a lot even about simple things, stressing about school is just the worst. I do think I learn amazing and useful things, but exams man, they're frightening. Also, since you said you don't feel motivated, do you think watching your own old vlogs where you study a lot would help? Just a random question. God knows we all could do with a bit more motivation.
I am in medical school, and anatomy exams a year ago had me crying randomly for 3 months straight because the exam terrified me so much (its oral, and its open, so you have an audience for your public humiliation). Now I am pacing down and having plenty of breaks and enjoying it so much more. Dont stress yourself out too much. It just brings depression and burnout.
Astronomy PhD student here, take it easy and don’t put too much pressure on yourself. Your hard work will pay off. There will be days when you think the subject is amazing and there are days when you will hate it and debate why you decided to study it in the first place. On those days, take some time off to do something for yourself and that makes you happy! Trust me, it really helps!! You’re doing amazing and love watching the videos!! 💖💖💖
As a med student, I totally understand the struggle of learning interesting content but not really having time to enjoy it because you need to keep up 😓 I really love science, and I know I could find physiology&biochemistry SO great, but since anatomy takes so much of my time (a LOT of learning stuff by heart), I just need to focus on passing the other subjects 🤦🏼♀️
You are there not only because of your good grades on exams, but because you have interest and skills for learning! I tend to put a lot of pressure on myself and it's very frustrating. Your teacher was right, we are more than exams but we tend to forget it. College is and amazing place and sometimes we just spend too many time thinking about exams and don't enjoy the experience as much as we should. Anyways, i love your videos, you motivate me a lot! Good luck from Spain! (Sorry, my english is not that good)
He's right, there's more than exams in regards to education and the point of education is to learn, not learn for the exam but learn for the love of it. However, I completely understand where you're coming from! Good luck with your exams!
@Catherine Monroe Official definitely, but then again it is important to note that your performance on exams doesn't measure or reflect your intelligence or even your understanding of something.
It always happens, but then you come to realize you love those days. I'll be graduated in 4 months, I cannot tell you how it feels, today I had my favorite event and it was the last one of my university days...it's exciting yet i cried. You'll come to appreciate, love and miss those horrible days with all the pressure and stress...Hope you have an amazing day, and keep perspective of how lucky and amazing you are🍀
I watched you over a year ago. You ended up back in my feed, I am so grateful. I absolutely love your videos. I binged on your videos over the last few days. You rock!
I think the lecturer’s ‘if you just want to pass the exams don’t bother coming to the lectures’ comment was a bit off, if not self indulgent. The reality is after three years of hard work you would naturally like good grades to show for it, after all you are paying something called tuition fees so he ought to be focused your objectives too.
Thank you so much for still making and editing these videos while having been so busy! We really appreciate them☺️ they're so interesting and inspiring xx
I try to tell myself "you're going to do it anyway and stressing over it would just make things harder" it kinda works. I had so much stress build up from Math Homework and Physic Protocols that just thinking about them gave me Pain in my Chest. Now I kinda learned how to relax when I start to panic. It's the start of the Term so you might need a bit of time to cope with this new stressful Semester.
I am definitely feeling the stress as well this term. One of my problems is that we have the really open ended task of do extra reading and the more extra reading you do the more likely you are to do well in your exams as you get marked for 'original' thoughts. So I never feel as if I've done enough as I could always have done more.
After a long day of uni work, its nice to have some down time with a new PaigeY vlog!! :D Also, don't worry about the workload/exams, it is ALOT and yes i'll admit myself that sometimes I find myself hating parts of my subject (I do history which involves a lot of reading and research which can get boring and repetitive when doing it for one topic for so long), but when I take step back and look at how much work I have actually done, and how proud I am of myself for knowing the stuff that I do, I remember why I love history and why I chose to do it for my degree! Crisis of confidence is definitely a worry for students but don't let the down days keep you down forever! X
Don't worry sometimes you don't necessarily feel like studying o doing work, don't be stress about that Try to be relaxed and enjoy what you are doing and if you can't end everything you have to do , don't worry it's normal
My new semester only starts on Monday, and by some miracle, I got my motivation back to study and to do the best as I can. Good luck with your new term, I'm sure you'll manage. :)
in the beginning of the video, while you were talking about astrophysics students and stuff, I suddenly thought: wow, this girl is becoming a scientist! and it made me feel so happy and proud of you! it is beautiful to see us doing our stuff and having our space. I have a great impression about you, and I’m pretty sure this is just a bad moment and it’s completely normal. don’t worry, keep strong; you’re great 💗 love from south america
oh paige third year is the absolute worst because of the pressure you have of getting the highest grade on your transcripts, like you said it will eventually matter in your future career... I have been following your journey at cambridge for a while now and your work ethic will surely pay off. These tears are perfectly normal, sometimes it's just a bit too much. One thing that helped me during my last year was going to bed very early and waking up really early to do some work (something in the early morning makes you feel invinicible...). As for the feeling of "losing love for learning" I totally get that, when the year starts you're all excited about the courses you will have but eventually you get caught up by exams, and we all know that cramming past papers is a foolproof strategy (as frustrating as it can be..) . I suppose it's all about finding the right balance of doing enough past paper throughout the year to feel confident during exams session, and still enjoying the courses during term for the love of learning (easier said than done...).
Your videos keep me motivated through out the year, I am in the 11 grade now and I must say I got my marks up since I watch your channel so keep up the amazing work and never give up! Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪!
Aw Paige, I’m also in my final year at uni and feeling the pressure. I study English, (so not as academic as the sciences I am told;) lol) but it’s a lot of reading. I used to love reading but now I hate it and sometimes I feel uni has ruined that for me. But we are nearly there and after uni we can enjoy learning without the pressure of exams and essays and reports etc. You have an amazing work ethic - you will do great. If you take a step back you will see that yourself - you’re in the library on a Friday night!! Love from Scotland 🏴x
Gawwwdd!!!.. I'm sooo happy now😭♥️ My day was really messed up today and nowwww!!😊 Thank you!..and don't stress out so much.. you're gonna handle all this soooo well!!😚❤️
I can't imagine hearing that from a lecture when you are at one of the highest level universities in the country, I can imagine them just constantly wanting you to learn everything in detail and having to be extremely organize and be on time with studying otherwise it would just pile up and become more stressful than it already is.
I’m a Psychology Major, and I know exactly what you mean. Speaking from personal experience, the value that marks hold beyond the classroom is limited to stupid eligibility criteria and what they say about one’s work ethic . I get your exhaustion . So, one thing you can do is focus on going beyond the syllabus for topics that really interest you , perhaps for 25-30 minutes everyday . If you focus solely on the exam aspect, it can affect your motivation . You’re a learning-oriented person, and you should be allowed to incorporate that in your life .
Cosmology Amazing! Flawless! I want to become a cosmologist and I thik this is the best channel that presents infront of me the track that I should follow for my dream to come true. You made me choose Cambridge for my batchelor degree instead of Harvard.
Don't let the stress get you down!.....you will pull through it.....I reckon your other classmates are also feeling the same way. If you are really stressed, maybe you could talk to a counsellor? Good luck! By the way, in my most recent degree, I was feeling stressed and down and almost contemplated dropping out, but I pressed on and.....then....graduated with distinction, so i know how you feel....
I am just studying for my last exam in law college and it is soooo stressful. Everything on this college was frightening and the only things I remember of the last five years of my life studying, fear and the feeling of being constantly tired. And now I have just one more exam and it is so hard...thousands pages to learn and I just struggle to find motivation. I am telling to myself that after this one it is over but the quantity of this subject is just terrible
As a medical stuent I can relate so much! I'm so lucky to be able to learn about some of the most interesting topics I can imagine, however because of the huge amount of work, I feel I can't quite enjoy it as much as I'd like to. I guess after all we'll just have to push through and remind ourselves that this is going to help us get the jobs we want, so that we can enjoy learning and working in the future:)
Have been really enjoying this type of videos because it translates exactly what people like me and you go throught the semester! There (finally) goes my sub, deserved!
Can distinctly remember the feelings of being overwhelmed at times in my final year. Take it a day at a time - only thing i might suggest is keeping reading your notes as the more times you read it through the more sticks so come revision time you will have less to pack in. In the end you can only do your best. Do you have a tutor you can go to and just talk about your stresses? Keep going! All best.
I think if I was the lecturer, I would say, if you are interested in topics related to cosmology which are not taught in this class,, look into it in your spare time (not teach it in classes). The reason being is that, if you are extremely interested in cosmology m, you need to pass the exams to pass the course, to enable you onto post grad cosmology classes or a good career in cosmology.
Girl, I needed this so much. This is how I've been feeling in my upper level chemistry course. I got 10 wrong on last week's lab! I don't love learning chemistry, despite the fact it has so much to do with medicine. I just can't get motivated for it. There are so many semesters of it too!! As soon as one exam is over, I'm already preparing for the next exam in my other class. :/
good video. I liked the honesty about stress levels. You always seem so upbeat so it was interesting to see that stuff does get stressy sometimes. But you weren’t too dramatic about it and seemed upbeat again by the end. Hope all is well!
ohh i had the same feeling with my art history knowledge, soo much to read and learn for the exams and every single time it was like i wish i didnt get graded for this, because is sooo interesting but had to study fast for exams...
Good luck with everything Paige you'll end up liking everything and not get frustrated if you just give yourself sometime n proirity everything will fall in place and just enjoy life you're a serious motivator kudos to your efforts Love from India:)
So, after 3 years of Bachelor plus 2 of Master degree, more or less 40 exams done (1 or 2 written exams, project and oral exam EACH), focusing on lectures, friends and some HUGE books, some pubblications and 2 big thesis of experience, I can tell you to keep going. You will finish this, It's a period of your life that will end, sadly or not. So keep focus on what YOU want, and fight for that P! 😘
I felt the same way at my last semester of my master's degree... I got very frustrated but it was worth it... now, after 6 years of my graduation, i would love to hit the classroom :-)
Hi there, I don't usually type down here cause I feel like my words are not worth it. Anyway, I wanted to say thank you for all your videos, they are so entertaining and full of life, I especially enjoy when you are surrounded by your friends chatting haha. And another thing that I wanted to tell you and everybody that is reading this, uni can be extremely stressful and I personally (I have squizoaffective disorder) don't enjoy it that much. But if you really can keep on the track and study and finish your grades and maybe even later have a PhD, it's the best you can do for your future. Cheers mate
Stress is hard but it's part of our lives. I had a brain tumor and now I often have panic attacks and anxiety. What I do to not stress too much is to start studying in advance so that the week before exams I only have to revise. Furthermore it's very helpful to study with others cause you'll realise that they don't know more than you do and often they even know less!!!
our uni is like polar opposite to you guys lol all about attendence and studying for exams. and give us completely no information or handouts except the slides from the slideshow lol
I might have a mild to moderate crush on you xD studied actuarial sc and finished my studies in the Uk last year . I wish you all the best in your studies !
I know that this is a weird perspective, but if she's already at Cambridge, what is she studying for? Like does it really matter whether she gets a first or a 2:1? other students might work hard so that they can go on to a better school for their PG, but if you're already at one of the best schools in the world, why bother? it's not like getting a 2:1 or a first will really influence her career options, and in the end, does it really matter? like when we're 80, are we gonna care about our grades or are we gonna care about our experiences like traveling, making friends, just enjoying life?
I am in so much trouble... School is too easy for me in the fields i like and would like to have a career in, however, stuff like literature for which i have to spend endless hours of writing and what not just to get that mark makes me realise just how hard others are working to achieve anything. Now... since I haven't learned anything in my beloved chemistry for years now (I've just picked things up so fast at school, I have no reason to learn it outside of it) I am afraid of what Uni will be like. Is it still possible to pick things up as you go or independant work is inevitable? THANK GOD i was unsuccessful in Cambridge as i doubt i could take the workload, I did, however, just get an offer in Warwick, hopefully situation there is better.
Hi Paige, do you know if the learning materials are purchasable (from your course) at the uni? Just asking because my bachelor doesn’t really do astrophysics stuff and I’m aiming for doing masters at Cambridge. Thanks in advance!
You arrreee encouraging meee to study so muchhhh and the real time of study this video was amazing do more like it u put me in the mood. There is a question I'm so confused about what I want to be and which field I want to be in if you have any advice tell me please 😍😍😍😍😍 And how much should I work to be accepted in cambridge or Harvard? Love u paige 😍😍😍❤❤❤❤❤
I love your videos so much! ♥️ I have an offer for vet med but am really unsure about putting it as one of my choices because I worry it will be too stressful and I won't have any time for sports and socialising ? Alsooo do you normally go to Cafe every night for dinner or do you tend to cook yourself ? Thank you so much if you see this ! Xxx

the thing about wanting to learn but ultimately not being able to care about anything but your grades is sooooo real and sucks so much ':(
Me a nursing student hearing that exams aren’t everything....haha...right...nice one.
so good to see you Paige! The nerve of Sainsbury's...moving stuff around to confuse Paige...shame shame!! Have a wonderful week my dear! :) ♥♥
I felt the same way at my last semester of my master's degree... I got very frustrated but it was worth it... now, after 6 years of my graduation, i would love to hit the classroom :-)
Yeah I think I’ll miss it when I’m finished! Even with all the stressful moments 😅
I hope you’re doing better at showing up on time than I am this semester. It’s the last semester and Senioritis is real 😂
Ohh i missed you! Watched so many of your vids before the interview 😅
Your hair looks lighter, you are so pretty, extra pretty in this
I missed your vlogs so much!
“touch wood” *touches head* i love it
Paige, hello from Brazil! I love your videos and I find them really inspiring and motivating!
I like your videos and watch it all over again. You're motivating!🎉🎉✌🏻😎
our uni is like polar opposite to you guys lol all about attendence and studying for exams. and give us completely no information or handouts except the slides from the slideshow lol
I might have a mild to moderate crush on you xD studied actuarial sc and finished my studies in the Uk last year . I wish you all the best in your studies !
Omg I’m early plz reply I freaking love you so muchhhhh you make my really motivated to study💖💖💖

Philippines🇵🇭
This vlog is a big mood! - but you got this girl! x
Definitely go to concert band, music always helps!! :)
Don’t be too hard on yourself!
Your hair is definitely growing..looks lovely 😊
Have a chill later xx
Happy new semester Paige!❤️
5:40 BEST ASMR EVERRR!!!! 🥰💖
Good Luck Paige☘
Your hair looks amazing!

Xxx
Luckily this came up in my recommended cus it wasn’t in my subscriptions 😮
