- A beginning to end playthrough of DreamWorks Interactive's 1996 Windows 95 game, R. L. Stine Goosebumps: Escape from Horrorland.
Recorded directly from a Windows 95 PC. This was a pretty neat game that my parents got for us as kids. Someone requested a playthrough of it, and I still have the original discs, so I figured why not?
I had forgotten how much fun this actually was. I had also completely forgotten that it has Jeff Goldblum playing Dracula, acting kinda pervy with the 12 year old girl.
I loved the books as a kid, and the game was a pretty entertaining, surprisingly high budget interactive movie with some hilariously bad costumes. Hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed reliving the memories of it :)

I did the music and sound design and mixing and Dialog editing for this project. It brings back a lot of fond memories. It was a huge project back in the day and at the time one of the most complicated CD rom games made.

I swear this game is one of the reasons I am so into all things scary. The sounds of the wind blowing through the trees as you explore..terrifying! I was obsessed with it- even though it would freeze and take forever to load!

I remember being super scared to open that freezing door that was pounding, then felt really bad that I left Lizzy freezing even longer because I was too scared to open it.

My childhood best friend came over to stay the night and we played this game because he brought it. It was my birthday the next day and we stayed up all night playing it. I recently lost that friend but this game brought back alot of memories I had with him, RIP Sean

That mummy chase was the most stressful and horrifying moment of my childhood
Olivia Parry I used to dread that part of the game as I always tried to turn quickly so I didn't have to see the mummy come towards me out of the dark. It creeped me out as a kid.

This game had such a positive impact on me as a child in the 90’s. So much so that I come back to watch the gameplay footage every few years. Life is rough as a man in his 30’s, especially in these crazy times we’re currently living. I find that the nostalgia of this game helps recenter me and remind me of simpler times, and days when I was truly happy.

Is it just me, or was this the single greatest Goosebumps game they made? Played the crap out of this one when I was a child, there was SO much content to the game, and it was TERRIFYING as a kid. That sewer game (which apparently uses the freaking doom engine) was scary as hell to play.

Well the latest goosebumps game had similar point and click gameplay this game has but this one has a better story, if they do a new game I wonder if they’ll use gameplay similar to Luigi’s Mansion, Ghostbusters or maybe Telltale games

Thank you. this video helped me confirm that this is the game I remember playing as a kid. 14:15 The memory that sticks out the most, the one that led me to this video, is rescuing the girl who was frozen, and the chase scene through the forest. I remember we failed the chase scene so many times.

What I love about this game, is how creepy the environment is. Even the Horrorland of the TV series didn't look this scary. Although it did look more like a theme park. I think if today, they remake the series & drew inspiration from the game, it could be an episode very well done.

Kevin Johnson my sister and I could never get past one part until I finally found the girl in the freezer in the butcher shop one morning when we had a two hour delay. We finished the game so quickly after that.

My daughter and I had so much fun playing this game together! For years! I kept thinking they would come out with a follow up game but they never did. So disappointing!
I can't even describe to you guys how much I loved this game as a kid.
I remember owning this game when my sister and I were kids. We got horribly lost and never finished. It's nice to see what we were missing.

Probably the closest we'll get to a big budget 90s Goosebumps movie. I'd rather consider this as the definitive Goosebumps movie than the actual awful movie. Also, a Horrorland centered movie still sounds awesome. We've had two games and a whole book series about it, so now we need a movie!

Wow, I have been searching for this for years. I remember this was installed on the primary school computers. It was such a fun game, and we always rushed to see who would A) get the computer and B) how far they would get in the game. The werewolf, mummy chase and slug monster in the underground always terrified me
Lots of memorable artwork and costuming in this game. The creepy zoo and decrepit plaza look just like I remember.

slender was scary, 5 nights at freddy's is scary, amnesia is scary but none of them compared to the sewer level of this game where you were being chased by the giant garbage poo monster

I came here because I remembered the amazing book series that brought all these great characters into one place. I had no clue this was a video game. It was my favorite set out of all the goosebumps stories. And I thought to myself, how amazing would it be if they turned it into a film? Do a combined cinematic universe of the major Goosebumps stories and as the ending, bring everyone to Horrorland to take down the major villain. I would kill to see the protagonists of Night of the Living Dummy, A night at horrorland, Haunting of the Scary Mask, and Monster Blood all in the same film. Honestly, this is a far fetched idea but I think it could work. Beats the flop that was the Goosebumps films that were recently released.

This came out when I was 8. I remember thinking the obnoxious lead girl was cute and the werewolf chase scene was absolutely terrifying.
Pathetically, all nostalgia ended in this video for me around the 20 minute mark because I was never able to figure out the "Scarecrow Walks at Midnight" pumpkin puzzle. I had absolutely no idea that Isabella Rossellini and Jeff freaking Goldblum were in this!

Same thing that part was tough. This came out when I was 10 and it was the toughest game because of those pumpkins. I liked “Attack Of The Mutant” more but once I got past that issue a few years I grew to like this one too.

Thank you so much for this. I played this at my Dad's house when I was growing up. I must have been 8 or 9 years old. I can't believe what this game looks like after all these years , with just the memories. You are awesome. This brings back a lot of memories for me.

Bah, you didn't do anything! You didn't go to the werewolf's house, you didn't even try to get all the cards or all of the cutscenes... Not even the doom monster stages. Come on man!!!
Sorry man, I knew i was missing those things, but ultimately I made the choice to ignore the cards to keep the video a reasonable length and have it be entertaining to watch the whole way through. Getting the collectibles would have extended the game a fair amount more than I really want to.

Holy smokes! Were the sets small models, or were they all actually animated by hand? Because this game has to have some of the best, most atmospheric set pieces in gaming history. And unique enough to be burned in our memories for 20+ years!

This game was straight cray af. I remember teleporting into that town and being like "OH HELL NO BITCH SAVE YOUR OWN DAMN BROTHERS!" then went back to playing Oregon Trail.

Once you go on the WB studio lot, it's so easy to tell when something was shot there. That's straight up the Gilmore Girls town at the beginning
a game that still skeeves me out to this day, and i mean this. slender, amnesia, evil within? none of those creep me out like escape from horrorland. the fucking live action werewolf, mummy, the scarecrow, and even the damn animated trash can beasts...seriously?!?!!? could these people make me even more freaked out of a dark hallway when i was 8 years old?!?!?! the werewolf and mummy chases, literally made me run from the computer screen. and let's not forget the damn tennis zombie in front of vampire village...rising, trudging, smacking the tokens out of me with a backhand!!!

it always made me feel like i was missing a part of the game when, after changing Lizzy back from that worm, Luke mentions how a Horror handed him his dads wallet, and how they (which, now I'm not sure if he was referring to him and the player, or him and Clay when they first got there) saw their moms bracelet in a pawn shop that I could never find. anyone else have this problem?

I played this game religiously as a child and I think about it every day. I loved Goosebumps and was obsessed with getting to run around horrorland. I miss playing this game so much and I come back here to watch this playthrough often just to relive it 😭
I lived in a small mining town and had one computer in the school library at the time in the late 90s, this was the game all the cool kids who got to that computer first had to play, I particularly remember the talking pumpkin puzzle and looking away whenever they did that maze mini game with the monster with three mouths.
It took me so long to grow the balls to go into the Vampire Village. Vampires scared the shit out of me as a kid.

You're one year younger than me and we played it around the same time. What a gem of a game. Don't even remember how we got it, almost like it just showed up one day.
I don’t know how this got recommended but holy crap is that a nostalgia hit. I remember booting this up as a kid and it really helped get me into horror.
Here are a couple riddles the wall could have used:
When the boys are missing, a rhyme in place of the funnier one:
Boys in stocks, got unlocked,
and taken by one who has frigthened and stalked!
When Lizzy gets locked in freezer by werewolf:
A werewolf with fur the color of gold,
locked the Morris girl in somewhere that's incredibly cold
When Lizzy gets snatched and taken for experiments:
The Morris girl was taken for experiments of the worst,
but if you wish to save her, save the Morris BOY first!
How to use the ring:
If someone gives you trouble you find is unfair,
use the ring to lift them out of you way, in the air!
Well, it is a kids game, so they have to be fairly easy. Also, the riddles all rhyme here

Also i love reading the CYOA books. If I could remake the series for an older audience and make it an interactive CYOA on youtube I absolutely would.

We owned this as kids, and all my neighbors would want to come over so they could play it, but our disc was messed up so it always froze during the cinematic after the pumpkin puzzle, years later got another copy that finally got us to the end
I'm just imagining this girl running up to some poor adult and ending up getting sucked into all this madness and while the girl is freaking out the adult is just sitting pointing out the obvious and being sarcastic the whole time xD
