Older filipinos are multi lingual because aside from English, before Spanish is a college subject..my father understand and know how to speak Spanish..
Jared your new friend is a rare find! I added him up too, because tulad ng sinabi mo, Aljohn is so underrated.
Majority of Filipinos are at least bilingual. Visayas and Mindanao I would guess many are trilingual to multilingual with four. Tagalog, English, Bisaya and their local language.
In The Philippines 🇵🇭, the typical Filipino/Filipina is fluent in 3 languages, according to 3 categories: Tagalog (national language), American English (international language) and the local language (depending where the person grew up). Deacons, priests and nuns, all Catholic, there, add Biblical Greek, Biblical Hebrew and Biblical Latin. Thus, a Filipino or Filipina can know 6 languages! 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 Spanish 🇪🇸 is embedded in Tagalog. So is Indonesian 🇮🇩. A Spanish speaker can teach the self French 🇫🇷. Russian 🇷🇺 is the most difficult 😖 in his language set. It has cases which do not appear in Romance languages. In addition to English, I speak Spanish, French, German. Beginner in Tagalog. I can understand some Italian, Portuguese and Romanian through Spanish and French. I learned Latin in school and through events at various Catholic churches ✝️
You are one brilliant language learner. You really are one. Ako nga more than 30 years nag trabaho sa Saudi Arabia but still very poor in speaking Arabic. I blame it to my being greatly involved in teaching Arabians in speaking English and our Tagalog dialect. There are Saudis who also speak a number of Phil dialects depending on who their friends come from which island in the Philippines.
Hi Jared. You should learn Chavacano language. It is a Spanish Creole spoken in Las Islas Filipinas en la Ciudad de Zamboanga.
jared, there is also something called talent...I was a language enthusiast before ever visiting the philippines and I've lived in the philippines for varying periods of times over the last couple decades, but I haven't been able to learn conversational filipino...when pure tagalog is spoken I have all kinds of trouble separating filipino words out from sentences that just sound like a long word (german style words)...I had studied spanish for years before visiting the philippines too, so on the main island where mispronounced spanish and mispronounced english make up half the language, and then I can't hear the filipino words, my brain is like constantly confused about what language is happening...fortunately, aside from a few words like kulay lila there aren't too many german words... weird thing is I never had trouble with mixing up languages before the philippines, but filipino scrambles me...every time I try to respond to filipino I still end up thinking spanish... anyways, you being interested may be important to your language comprehension and acquisition, but you've got a gift
other than mean greetings to loved ones ("what happened? you got fat!"), not sure that filipinos are so direct compared to say germans, americans, or australians...but to the docile canadian they might seem so...
hi! im also interested in learning foreign languages.. i tried learning finnish and korean.. i never get into speaking the languages because i have no one to talk to in korean. or finnish.. it's great to find you two in youtube.. 😂
I decided (finally) to learn tagalog, idk why I feel attracted to Tagalog language. I just got in here and saw Aljohn, i was like, oh, one of the nicest language learning UA-camrs. Would have been nice to see filipino subtitles also. Anyway, excellent video, new follower. I'll be around your channel for a while. I use to say: Even if I'm latino, my soul is filipino. 😅 . 👋🏼
Another big bang vlog you got there, and your guest is so impressive indeed😊 You made me realize that Filipino language is indeed a hard language to learn if you're not a native speaker🙂👌🏻
Haha. Ang galing m eh. 👏 Salamat sa pag-feature sa kanya Jared. Truly underrated sya. One thing you mentioned Jared is directness... I didn't realize we Pinoys are too direct? 🤔 Actually that way of speaking probably depends if the person is close to you or not. Most of the time Filipinos talk in a roundabout way. 😂 Unless the person is from Metro Manila most likely yes the way we speak is more direct. I am thinking this is because of the American culture tho. 🤔
actually there's a lot of Polyglots who were Filipinos but now all people like to show or brag that they're polyglot so I disagree that "we're rare", others are actually trying their best to post their video but doesn't have an opportunity to become popular or a lot of people watch their video. Please provide a lot of research before giving an opinion because someone might not like the content of your video. Filipinos are born Multilingual since they have different LANGUAGES not DIALECTS. I kinda don't like saying that "there are only few Filipinos who are Polyglot" like what???? lols. kinikilala nyo lang kasi yung mga sikat at maraming views sa youtube.
Bravo Jared!!!!!.... Actually it's not Tagalog. It should be wikang Filipino. Tagalog is a dialect from mga katagalugan it Luzon proper area. It's Filipino or Wikang Filipino. Better gamitin mo ung high terms na wikang Filipno to be more effective. ❤Watching from Riyadh
@12:03 min. So many variations of 1 Verb to Learn. Example: USAP, KaUSAP, PagUSAP, PakiUSAP. I realized this is to CONVERSE with another. I finally learned USAP is not just TO TALK 😂
i dont think filipino polyglots are too uncommon cos most filipinos are trilingual or more (tagalog, english, native language) but i suppose those that learn foreign languages in the country are rarer

Nakakamangha kayong dalawa! Pagbating muli!
Depending on someone’s definition of polyglot, you can actually say a lot of Filipinos are polyglots. Most Filipinos will know Tagalog and English from school, but then also know 1 or 2 regional languages.
