Mazda Tribute owner experience: I have the exact same one in this video and it is now at 180k miles. I have fixed/replaced a window regulator, a/c fan, shocks and struts and the brakes went out around 170k and had to replace master cylinder. Now at 180k miles there are multiple oil leaks and a/c has gotten stuck on defrost in the winter but shes still my daily and running well. I don't know what was done before that because it was my moms car she bought used. We both love the mazda. You have a good view on the road seeing over the cars and its not super wide like other SUV's so city/highway driving is comfortable. It's a great size, feels light and is easily maneuverable; I love driving it. The power of the v6 engine will make it get up and go and is SO reliable. I live in Arizona and have taken it up the mountain roads and on drives to the next cities over. I also live and work on awful, bumpy dirt roads at the moment and where I live even the paved roads are awful but my Mazda is happy to take me anywhere. Good on gas and has a great sound system too. Its an incredibly affordable, attractive and well rounded vehicle.
Try to do 4K oil change with vehicle over 100K when it’s over 150K do the oil change every 3K - 3.5K will keep your engine runs smooth even it hits 200K .
I bought a new Mazda Tribute LX 2WD 6CYL all the way back in 2002. It got me all over California for years, trips from LA to SF and back pretty frequently. It got me to Boston pulling a U-Haul packed with guitars and amps. Guitars and amps are heavy if you have enough of them - I needed a small jack to lift it off the trailer hitch. I lived on the east coast for about 5 years where it got me to work and back every day on I-95 in all kinds of weather and several trips to New York (my hometown). It handled snow, sleet, ice, rain, all that east coast crap without a problem. In 2011 I drove back to California sans U-Haul - an easier trip for sure - so it's definitely got wear and tear at this point but I just parked it after getting off work so I'm still driving it. Best vehicle I ever owned, I hate to give it up but the clock is ticking. Quite a vehicle in my experience.
I literally just purchased one! It’s a 2008 with only 78,000 miles on it! It’s amazing but question… Is there a way that my headlights can be set on a timer or do I always have to manually turn them off?
I believe the 2.5L 4cyl. engine is jointly developed by Mazda and Ford. This must be an older review as the new Tributes (and Escapes) have the upgraded engines and 6sp. transmissions since 2009.
These Tributes aren't as common as the Escape, but I still managae to see one evry single day!!!! I think it's cuz it's one of the cars I want, It's haunting me! LOL
BUYER BEWARE OF MAZDA TRIBUTE 2009! I have a 2009 Tribute and a paint peeling mess on mine on the hood! Mazda wants nothing to do w/me now that I have a problem. Mazda Tribute 2009's were also recalled on a transmission part I had to take and get that replaced after only a few months of having the suv! Now the transmission still has a problem with shifting roughly a few times a month. My Mazda Tribute 2009 also had to go in a few months ago for a very bad leaking back window!
@@TomDeVito Nice. We have a 2009 mazda tribute with like 160k miles. Only minor problems like tailgate hatch failing and windshield washer fluid leak. Only major problems were a water pump and a dirty throttle body
296jayce I just read this comment but I have an explanation. Before the crossover movement SUVS where built on truck frames where crossovers are made on Car frames. So the SUVS in 2009 where on truck frames. Meaning today the only SUVs on truck frames are like Tahoes
tributes have alot fo transmission issues. the newer the worse. i have an 04 lx v6. love the car, interior is awesome still looks new and smells new. 117,000 miles later still on original transmission, hesitates to shift slightly but won't mess with it. electrical issues are a pain but aren't crazy bad. oil leaks (seeps a bit) a quart a month. for 20,000 new i like it and will not part with it anytime soon. and throttle responds quite well too. a keeper if you have one.
Lance Littleton I have the manual. Clutch isn't the best compared to other Mazdas and the parking brake is a foot brake so it's a struggle on hills. There are certainly better cars to get manual. I love the tribute in general though and it's made 179,000 miles without any transmission problems so I can say it certainly is reliable in manual.
I own one...2008 125 000 km stil running perfectly...Best buy i've ever did...

can you plug your phone for your music?
My 08 Tribute just turned 100,000 miles and runs great. I change the oil every 5000 miles and take care of it and it takes care of me. Great ride!
david sapp Do you still have it? Any new problems?
Bump.

the engine on the 2008-2011 Mazda Tribute
Engine
2.5L MZR I4
3.0L AJ V6
The 2008 still used the 2.3. Was 2009 the 2.5 came out
I'm stuck between this and the Mitsubishi outlander sport. both are are amazing suv's/cross over's. But which one is the better bang for ur buck??
Which one did you get?
@@lusathegreat6300 Didn't get either one
@@TomDeVito what did you get

before these were compact suv's, why are they now called crossovers?

Evolution
I would assume 08/09 based on the year this was made.

@gathy222 get a Ford Escape! They look nicer and all of the features you have to buy with the tribute come free in the Escape!
This is not the greatest car in the world. This is just a tribute.
Regressed into rear drum brakes.
check the tuned tribute in my chanel!
the older tribute looks sooooo much better

Nahhh
Didn't even MENTION how the 5 speed manual does, the only reason I watched this review haha

One thing I don't like about KBB reviews is that you guys fail to put the model year in a lot of your videos.
