Hearing "Duel of the Fates" return in theaters when this movie came out may 19, 2005 was such a surprise. It wasn't even in the soundtrack. I mentally went "YES" when I heard the intro and it cuts to Yoda vs Sidious, the whole theater was silent (as it should be. You do NOT talk or cheer or scream over John Williams music, it is blasphemous) but you could FEEL the aura in the auditorium that everyone was so pleased and hyped.
"as it should be. You do NOT talk or cheer or scream over John Williams music, it is blasphemous" I don't agree, 'Blown to Bits' from JAWS was likely meant to be cheered over given a literal explosion ends the conflict and the song expands past that into relief.
I grew up as a young kid with Anakin as my Luke Skywalker if you will. He was the main character, the hero, he was the chosen one, the strongest Jedi as far as I knew. Outstanding in just about everything he was and it wasn’t until much later I watched revenge of the sith after the clone wars cartoon and all of the other Star Wars media and bam. It is heartbreaking to see your childhood hero kill his wife, fight his friend and lose everything only to be left burning in agony. I don’t see Vader in this fight, I see Anakin only and it gets me every time.
@@piyo744 wow you really think it was him? I’m surprised I never heard this before but it makes sense… a lot of fucked up, sociopathic work went into creating Vader, like purposely giving him a shitty, painful suit, but him actually killing Padme explains the sort of glee he was holding back when he told Vader, Vader snapped, and Palpatine couldn’t hold back the pure giddy awe at his creation any longer. Kill the one person Vader had left to life for and he’s all yours.
When you can literally visualize the movie inside your head, hear the dialogue being said, listen to the special effect sounds being made, and just lose yourself in the epic scope of John Williams music
16:40 A little fun fact about _The Immolation Scene_ is that it was inspired by the crucifixion of Jesus. The music is merely identical to the crucifixion music from _The Passion Of The Christ_ . When you think about it, the two tales almost match. When Christ came, humanity had stopped following the will of God. In Anakin’s universe, he is the Chosen One. The Jedi became corrupt and had stopped following the will of the Force. In a way, this is Anakin’s crucifixion (the suffering he’d have to endure for the rest of his life in order to bring balance to the Force). It’s as if John Williams has witnessed history. He truly is the greatest composer who’s ever lived.
This soundtrack did something that the Sequels could never do for me: by heart, remember every moment in these 20+ minutes, making sure it sticks no matter when or where you hear it. Not to mention, this had SPECIFIC MUSIC unique to the final battle in this movie.
I think it was definitely to do with direction. For the most part, John Williams was directly talking with George Lucas throughout scoring episodes 1-6, even when he wasn’t directing. I think the fact that there were no consistent directors for the sequels meant that the relationship between director and composer wasn’t that strong. That’s not to say that JJ Abram’s doesn’t work well with composers he definitely does. Just that George knew what Williams was capable of and let him essentially write an entire symphonic story that perfectly fit the sequels. And I love the sequels scores
that transition from Anakin full of rage hits Obi Wan and walks towards him, and the changes to Yoda vs Darth Sidious was one of the most epic moments in cinema.
There was a SW marathon in my city for the 4th of May this year. I'm not even exaggerating when I say it was a dream come true to see the prequels and original trilogy in theater again or for the first time.

I hum to the tune every time I listen to it, and I play it during battle sequences from television shows (Dark Shadows, Scooby-Doo, Stranger Things, Once Upon A Time, etc.) & other films (Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, Jurassic World: Dominion, The Black Stallion, various Godzilla & MCU films, etc.), other Star Wars films (The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, The Force Awakens), and other John Williams-scored films (Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, Jaws, Home Alone, etc.)

15:00 this is my favorite part of the duel.
The saddest 25 minutes in Star Wars.
But also the most epic
These battles are my favourite moment in any film
Holy crap the musical archives were incomplete until I found this
when 23:53 kicks in its just so good
this is a great compilation

Obi-wan: It's over anakin, I have the high ground!
Anakin: Don't make me kill you.
Obi Wan: I will do what I must.
Anakin: You will try, my old friend.
"I wasn't prepared to train.... Someone like you!"
@@jman217 that's your failing, not mine
@@ElTwOJaY Perhaps I did fail you. But, I won't abandon you to the dark side!
@@jman217 That's not your decision to make!
No ads hell yea
Honestly Star Wars 3 was the best part ever and still is
I feel like Duel of the Fates is a better fit here because the duel between Yoda and Darth Sidious is LITERALLY a duel for the fate of the galaxy.
I loved anakin so much I refused to believe he and Darth Vader were the same person😭
Too bad the medical droid didn't say like in the comic book version and the novel- "my lord, the construction is finished- he lives."
12:40 John Williams Best of the Best!
Obi Wan: "i have failed you Anakin, i have failed you"
Anakin: "i should have known that George Lucas was plotting to take over"
Obi Wan: "Anakin Disney is evil"
Anakin: "from my point of view George Lucas is evil"
Obi Wan: "then your are lost"
Exactly 💯 💯 💯 💯 💯
Can we shut up and just enjoy the damn music, please?
@@Mac14329 no :D
@@AndreiTrader Oh, right. I forgot. Star Wars fans are too smiley-faced and obsessive to listen to reason.

You can almost visualise the scene just by the music alone.
May the force be with you
4:22 So underrated. My favourite part of all of this has to be at 15:10 - 16:36
9:20 The perfect music transition.
Great work!
STARWARS EPISODE III
REVENGE OF THE SITH
9:04 Epic moment.
Por fin consigo la banda completa, ¡Muchas gracias ❤❤❤!.

Agree
14:47 extended version that only made it into the film
Man I wish I was Alive in 2005 So I could See This Movie

Yoda: Hidden, safe, the children must be kept.
Obi-Wan: We must take them somewhere the Sith could not sense their presence.
Yoda: Split up they should be, for their own safety.
Bail Organa: My wife and I will take the girl. We always talked about adopting a baby girl. She will be loved with us.
Obi-Wan: And what of the boy?
Yoda: To Tatooine, to his family, send him.
Obi-Wan: I will take the child and watch over him.
Yoda: Until the time is right, disappear we will. Master Kenobi, wait a moment. In your solitude on Tatooine, training I have for you. An old friend has learned the path to immortality. One who has returned from the Netherworld of the Force; your old master.
Obi-Wan: Qui-Gon?
Yoda: How to commune with him, I will teach you.

Now I must watch the movie, again.
Damn I wish I wasn’t uneducated in the movie world growing up the first movie I was educated on aka sat down and told to watch was the empire strikes back and actually I hated Star Wars until I watched the prequel movies I loved the raw emotions revenge of the sith brought to me and I’m just so glad movies like this were made yes I know I’m weird for hating the original trilogy but it was just too slow for me I’m a sucker for backstory movies which is what the prequel movies provide for me so please don’t go hating on me for hating the original trilogy
Edit: I just realized after writing this that this is proof that Star Wars has a story for everyone to enjoy
Everybody can pinpoint exactly when The High Ground moment happens! xD
Curious that Obi-Wan says "I have the High Ground!" and it is the FALL of Anaking Skywalker. Like, y'kno, he jumps, Obi-Wan cuts off most of his limbs in one fluid motion, and Vader FALLS. lol
Don't get why there is still NO complete OST Album of Episode 2 and 3 avaiable to this day... Even the Ultimate Edition of Episode 1 sucks, because it has that terrible film-edit-version that sounds horrible...
when I close my eyes I pretty much watch the movie in my head
21:08 is just 👌
JOHN WILLIAMS' GREATEST MASTERPIECE MUSICAL SCORE TO MATCH GEORGE LUCAS' GREATEST MASTERPIECE FILM.ABSOLUTE PERFECTION ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.....
14:33 Me fighting Scary Larry in roblox
I can so visualize dath maul, anakin, general grevious, count dooku, qui gon, obi won, yoda, darth vader, and palpatine all clashing swords and force being swing around every one is flying every where been toss around and lighting clashing and in 16:42 secs of this song woells is the dark side winning. And darth vader's theme is the victory of the dark side that i been visualizing
I lov all the Star Wars music, but this soundtrack from Revenge of the Sith is my favorite
That was some scary stuff right their John William's was a genius on the first 6 Star Wars and with force Awaken but then they star wars music just got somewhat bleh with last jedi And the rise of skywalker
TFA OST was pretty bland and forgettable. TLJ, as godawful as it is, has ironically the best soundtrack of the Disney movies.
@@yrooxrksvi7142 Agreed. For some reason they kept playing rendition after rendition of the Force theme or Kylo's theme. It's like John's creativity was capped by the very limiting story. I guess there's only so much you can tell through music, when the story is the same but worse version of the one you scored for 4 decades ago.
My theory is: the big guys asked him to reuse more material for nostalgic purposes.
@@yrooxrksvi7142 I dunno, TFA has Rey's theme, Kylo's theme and March of the Resistance. From TLJ I remember only "The Spark"...maybe because I didn't rewatch either of them...
@@Сайтамен Rey's theme is a bland rejected track from Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban, Kylo Ren's didn't even get a proper suite, and March of the Resistance is utterly generic.
If only little Ani had done what he was truly meant to do, and end the Jedi *and* the sith
it took him a while too but eventually the love he had for his son brought him back to the light and finally killed the sith and brought balance to the force then passed his legacy onto Luke who he got to see one last time 😭
