can i just say again, if you can afford to buy these and be that early adopter guy, you are helping the whole hobby and everybody in it from users to manufacturers. dji is amazing, this looks on par, remember dji was only 25mbs to begin with, so hopefully the additional features appear soon. its a hobby for tinkerers and we should all be very ready to allow manufacturers to tinker a bit too.
But you need to keep in mind dji was among the first to do hd fpv, it was expected by them to learn and improve. Fatshark has known what dji can do, and what the fpv community expects if they stand a chance to compete. 25mbps And high latency, and poor performance compared to dji/hdzero. There's no excuse to charge the price they are charging WITHOUT antennas, and the current performance. This is a rip-off if anything. 600 dollars for canvas mode and no antennas. Nah
@@holersh and oleds, i agree with most of your points, i dont think this is a rip off, unless you think the old analogue were also a rip off, no antenna and no receiver...... i suspect the profit margin for these new goggles is much lower than the older ones. you cheer everybody on in a marathon, but you cheer the fat guy on the most.

Lost a little respect for RR after watching this video. Seems someone trying to pull a fast one on the community. Video footage absolutely terrible. Half baked goods that need to sit on the shelf until fixed right. Not investing in these until it can compete with DJI!
At this point in time, this system is simply not as solid as DJI, is more expensive, offers lesser video quality, uses a non-standard mounting pattern, and has higher latency (JB proved the values in the OSD are bullshit using proper testing methodology). Of course this video is simply an advertisement by Rotor Riot. I guess if you feel this system is so superior to the competition you should stop selling BNF quads built with DJI, and switch over to *only* flying with this hardware. Put your money where your mouth is.
This review makes me close to unsub the RR, you guys are soo cool but I'm so sad watching this after watching Joshua's review. As many other said the way Joshua did it is more convient and fair comparsion, something that this community have to stick to rathar than just selling products and not talking about Bruno ;)
I suggest watch their DJI FPV System review and compare it. I feel like they went backwards on this one lol. And for a range test DJI knock it out of the park it went twice as far(on stock antennas) than the avatar system. @LetsFlyRC c’mon man. DJI Video quality was way better. Clearly not ready yet why release it to the public.(it’s like a car manufacturer releasing a new car with no headlight on, and later provided when it’s ready with no time frame, you can drive it but you wouldn’t see on some other conditions). A lot of people expect it at least on par or better than DJI system.
They did not get twice the range xD, they got to 2.39 km, that's make 1.24 miles. When we are ready to stop fawning over the new goggle on the market lets look at some facts for a second. First of all it has been reported there is an error with the reported latency in the goggle OSD being off by several ms and confirmed under Bardwell's testing its actually coming in at 25ms at best not the reported 19-21 as repeatedly claimed. If this system eventually produces 50mbs, a 1200mw hack and audience mode, compared to DJI it still has a significantly smaller FOV, less FPS, less range (its not 13.3km) no on board SD recording, no 4:3 aspect, no control link, costs more, doesn't come with antennas 😂and has a proprietary video system and proprietary but currently unavailable VTX's with unique size configurations and impossible small screws. The engineers are working on a V2 goggle and vtx as we speak tho right?😳
I think the latency requires more in-depth testing. Bardwell tested at 240fps which made each frame 4ms. That makes the margin of error for that test 4ms and given that the latency figures were out by the same amount, we need a more accurate test to see the true latency figures. His test was fine for a rough estimate but that’s about it for now. At 1000fps it’ll be roughly 1ms per frame and give us a much better idea of the true latency.
They are owned by redcat which owns fatshark. They will claim honesty to the death of them but they are arrogant and out of touch. Bubby blew off my criticism from the bardwell video which shows dji doing better by saying "you fly hdzero so it all makes sense now". The mentality of these people is pompous and deceitful
can not be really called a review - more or less a sales or promotion show but lot missing and not touched enough. Canceled my order, will not get a dji and simply wait for a better solution. Another fake one considerin they called the latency being lower than dji and it is quite the opposite as Bardwell had shown. Why did Joshua only got 25 ms based on a highspeed camera he had been using on his desk with no distance between. VTX is not available and it is a project under construction.
@@sUASNews Somehow he had done it in anticipation on in that the night before released video. Hello! Super hd set, in my opinion it lacks an hdmi port (to use the simulators) and an avi port (like Dji allowing to fly in analog from time to time).
I bet some one will get the new fatshark system and cross compatible with the existing dji system and even the caddx vista. The two are so close to being the same hardware, we will see. I think it would be good for all HD systems going forward and give the quad builder more options. Hell I like fatshark but in the past all the goggles I have purchased from the ( hdo 1 and 2 ) dvr and the fan took a 💩 in the first month of purchase. I have 3 pairs of dji goggles and never have had not one failure and I have been using them from the first batch of the dji goggles sold. I can't stand to pay premium price for poor quality. I will wight and see more reviews in 6 months .
Not at all. This video wasn't impressive, didn't show any direct comparisons and just kinda seemed like hype. And the latency part is disingenuous. Saying you'll get 19-21ms latency on 720 and 39ms on 1080p without mentioning that's the fastest it'll ever be, but average latency is not that and the minimum number doesn't actually tell us anything of what the variability is like in flight. These are the same people that acted like school girls over the pre production version also, which multiple people ink ow who flew it told me it was not as good as dji not in image or performance. So then acting hype and making bold claims without any scientific testing or comparison just felt like one loooooong commercial. Dude said if he can fly through a tire 50 feet away behind a single think and broken down wall, that somehow means latency isn't an issue lol.
@@anthonyfpvminiquad1728 sure, absolutely. And it has a room for improvements. But my thought was, if DJI stop FPV tomorrow it won't die, it will live in this shape, will it be better or worse? Will see, but hd fpv won't die for sure.

can i just say again, if you can afford to buy these and be that early adopter guy, you are helping the whole hobby and everybody in it from users to manufacturers. dji is amazing, this looks on par, remember dji was only 25mbs to begin with, so hopefully the additional features appear soon. its a hobby for tinkerers and we should all be very ready to allow manufacturers to tinker a bit too.
But you need to keep in mind dji was among the first to do hd fpv, it was expected by them to learn and improve.
Fatshark has known what dji can do, and what the fpv community expects if they stand a chance to compete. 25mbps
And high latency, and poor performance compared to dji/hdzero.
@@TheMadmacs sure, but the hobby has progressed enough for manufacturers to at the very minimum include antennas.
And no, i dont cheer the fat guy in a marthon if he wants my money and isnt planning to better his ways

So interested in comparing to my analog set up.
NOW HURRY UP AND RELEASE THE CL2 XR7" WITH THIS VTX!!!
no integrity in this review. Drew thinks he can spot ms of latency and then bardell shows its the same as DJI in low latency and actually mis reporting in 720 by about 50%
"Dominator hype train" ... That's a good one.
Fatshark goggles are allready tearndown and SOC was rebranded to VIRTEX5 stupid troling. Im so glad that i buy DJI V2 last week. I did almost make my biggest misstake and preorder fatshark.
Is this footage from goggle DVR or onboard DVR?
Howdy, how do you get sound into that Walksnail vtx? does it have a built-in mic or is there a separate module?
... and where is the microphone on that thing?
Lost a little respect for RR after watching this video. Seems someone trying to pull a fast one on the community. Video footage absolutely terrible. Half baked goods that need to sit on the shelf until fixed right. Not investing in these until it can compete with DJI!
I've been using lhcp antennae for several years now, so not coming with antennae isn't an issue for me.
Needs video in for flight Sims. That's one thing hdzero has over this system.
Does the vtx transmit audio back to the goggles?
thank you
Before I buy it I would like to see more test like interferences flying analog, DJI, and the new fatshark-HD
Just wait for DJI to come out with their new system
What kind of battery do you recommend using??
The fat shark walksnail system did 1.8 miles, sorry buddy your got damn wrong and bear in mind that it is only the beginning, this is a new system, and also i don't understand why you are interrested in this system as you already own a dji system ? xD the vid if you want to verify : ua-cam.com/video/-MkVrdaZu4s/v-deo.html

feels like the "Raw Goggle DVR" has a lot of image sharpening applied.
The engineers are working on a V2 goggle and vtx as we speak tho right?😳
But...But...But...It's Fatshark.🤣
Eh screw size isn't an issue to myself. Easy fix either way.
But other than those minor issues they are fab! What a shocking launch, is this tickets for Fatshark I wonder
True, probably the least of their problems right now 😂
I think the latency requires more in-depth testing.
Where's the osd /canvass?
That sd card ejection is impressive
did you use the full 1.2W for the range test?
the fact that you guys keep bashing DJI but at the same time completely ignoring HDZero ?
I wonder what Ian will do. I couldn't watch the entire video the quip at blind folks was too much.

Where can I buy that old school digital drone shirt that you had on talking about the betaflight osd ledrib
I have 7 dji FPV setups, all using the dji V1 remote. Would love to see a matching remote for this system. Or maybe a dji compatibility hack 😉
Same. With an arsenal of great quads all flying on DJI at the moment why on earth would I change them all to a slightly inferior more expensive system?
@RyanO I’m not sure if this was legit, but a while back I saw a video where the guy had a Crossfire module connected to the dji FPV remote v1 using the audio jack type port on the transmitter. Maybe that could be a solution?
just us a tx16s
@@MakoFPV don't like them. Way too many switches. I love the simplicity of the dji remote plus the ease of use. @@watcanw8357 that could work. But at the same time no need to do the work if what I have already works. Id purchase the goggles for canvas mode if they were able to link to a dji vtx but highly unlikely to happen.

Kinda long commercial.
dji = cool and tactical, it just works
walksnail = cutsie shark on your head and some clutch sideflaps.
it can go to 1080p AND add a little bit of latency
Way to go with the half hour commercial. It's great how money can influence how you represent a product. This is cool. It's not great. With Steele purposefully omitting the mention of HDZero and you guys basically endorsing the thing, I suspect the product needs biased opinions. I suspect they paid a lot of money just to look good while being a sub par alternative. Do not buy into this.
Agreed. Shawn had the gall the lie to me that he retested avatar vs dji around trees just cause of my post that ratios their post and said he does get twice as far with walksnail with better performance and said the system only blacked out on Joshua's video cause of heat protection mode which joshua told me was off for his test lol. And bubby tried to share his 1080p dvr with me claiming it looks great but he was fooled by the fact that the location was all concrete. Whenever you pause and zoom in you can clearlybsee everything was smeared. They limited comments on my post and made it so you can't post pics on the post. Then they claimed they aren't paid to promote anything despite being all owned by redcat lololol. They are purely dishonest people. Then they started attacking me cause I fly hdzero and said that my views "make sense now" . They really are arrogant people who are out of touch with normal fpv pilots.
Nice they came out with the nano camera. I only run nano and mostly whoop style 5"frames
Can this be powered by 2s Li-ion pack or would the voltage be a bit too low due to the lower average operating voltage of Li-ions?

Super hd set, in my opinion it lacks an hdmi port (to use the simulators) and an avi port (like Dji allowing to fly in analog from time to time).
23 goggles just showed up at GH hobbies in Canada..but no cameras hmm. $1200..00

Hey can we get discount drones to hold out the window of our truck? 😀. Just messing with you, great video.
So, DJI FPV won't die
And it has a room for improvements.

one or the other..... dji comes with lhcp antennas but you could switch to right as long as they match goggles to vtx
@@toxicfpv304 but why can't I use liniar antenas?
@@djblack19 linear antennas are generally used on whoops and builds that are not going to be flown with much range. I would not suggest putting them on your goggles. If you are flying a whoop or something with a linear antenna then circular polarized antennas on your goggles will still do the job.
Looks to me like antennae choice makes a big difference. Bardwells review showed a really hazy camera in bright light and yours didn't so maybe a bad copy (camera) that he had.
