That set in Old I think is the most impressive one especially considering a Hurricane took it out. Really smart idea of enhancing a beautiful spot to fit the story better. Also that motorcycle stunt looked so good I thought it was real and turns out it was. CGI is cool and all but the best stuff is when you combine practical and CGI, but most of all the thing you really need is GOOD WRITERS.
F&F9 was filmed in my city and it was quite the tourist attraction. My friend lived on the street where they filmed and we watched from the balcony. It was quite interesting. Also rumours have it that the owners of the blowed up shops got offered 100k USD in compensation.
I'm not a movie aficionado, but I sure do enjoy learning HOW the great effects are created. I love learning it, just don't want to watch what it was all created for (weird, I suppose, but tis what tis).
The first paragraph mentioning it says it was for the actors. A lot of placeholders are just for either movement reference or lighting but in every case they are important for helping the actors react. Look at Star Wars prequel. They had no idea what they were looking at, just little orbs on a screen. And if that Red is the exact red of the dog it was useful for lighting/color. I didn't watch the movie so not sure how shadows look on the dog but it was useful to some of the artists, thought not sure cost wise it is worth rodoscopting it out.
I know, they couldn’t make the puppet look a little more like a dog? I guess the actors in a sense learned to be more accepting of what looks different but I feel like this is still a stretch for their imagination
@@Zamarae You do realize when they did the live action Scooby-Doo it was a "headless" actor holding a creepy fake dog head on a stick right? The actors don't need it to look realistic, they just need it to be approximately the right size and height so their eye-lines aren't off. Thats why in a lot of old movies with CG you'll notice the actors aren't even remotely looking at the CG characters and have trouble "tracking" the movement that they can't see.
I worked as an extra on the scene in the park where Clifford chases the giant ball, and all they had was a guy running around with a red Clifford head that wasn't even that big.
why can't modern movies do fight scenes well? every punch requires a cut so you can't actually see any of the fight happening and it just leaves the viewer dizzy instead of immersed
Shang-Chi is much better about that. The fight choreography is more similar to a Jackie Chan movie. The digital environments do take away from that some though.
I miss old Hong Kong cinema. There is still some really god fight scenes every year but they are usually not in good movies. Scott Atkins has a podcast where he talks about the magic of wide shot fights and interviews the best like Jaa. I seen some of his movies and they are not great but the fights are really dope. Really depends on the actor and if they can put off great fight choreography in a wide shot. That is why they make cuts a lot of the time. Look at the game of thrones battle with Breane and the hound. They could of used stuntmen but chose to only use the actors and it is one of the worst fight scenes I have seen in a bit budget show/movie.
Sad thing about the new space jam is that movies were doing animation/live action movies that look almost as good 33 years ago and it only took 2 years to hand ie draw who framed Rodger rabbit
That was so intresting, I look forward to what film's will look like in 20 years time.. Like vr and the movie happens all around you as your submerged in it!
It’s almost impressive how terribly Clifford looked. They somehow managed to make a CG dog look like it was low resolution footage filmed against a green screen.
I mean, the writers weren't the ones doing the CGI, set pieces, and special effects, so you can still appreciate visuals whilst being critical of the writing.
looking at Clifford before CGI me imagine... maybe will be like Lion Dance from Chinese New Year.... Also me saw Clifford's head on pole without neck connect to the body. maybe a Dragon Dance..... is nightmare
These are all really cool, but the building a mountain one bothers me. If the location didn't have the right "feel" then they should have found a different location, not wasted resources to build a 900 foot temporary faux mountain in the middle of NATURE. 🤦♀️
So you mean to tell me that red husk of a being thats possibly capable of eradicating humans is actually a dog?!? That’s disappointing it would have been cool if it was a horror movie
George Washington Bridge only faces New York or New Jersey. Since our characters are in Washington Heights that means the sun is setting in New Jersey.
Ok guys we gonna make a film about a giant loveable red dog, so to help the actors know what they are working with, we are going to use evil incarnate to help act with them. -Makes actors afraid-
If this much effort and money were put into uplifting societies rather than using resources and creating waste I wonder what world we could live in. TBH, I'm sick of the so-called 'entertainment' industry and 'celebrities' Really. they contribute nothing worthwhile to human wellbeing.
Seeing that Clifford set without the CG, you'd think it's for a horror movie
Yeah lol
Facts
The giant puppet looks so creepy omg
The neck looks like a hand of a decaying zombie
The whole thing looks like that one image of the f*cking brontosaurus from Poppy Playtime
i love how everybodys talking about how scary clifford was, but imagine being an extra with the appliances
True 😂
Stephen Junior...
so true! I was shocked to learn the extras were real... what if something went wrong?
@@livewellwitheds6885 they just use an extra extra
I was on set for Clifford, you can actually see me in some of this footage, and I can confirm, the big red dog was very big and very scary.
Who were you on set?
Which time stamp!?
Liar
Chill I was an extra. I’m in the crowd in the back at around 4:56
Omg idk if you got nightmares-
It's really fascinating seeing the scenes prior to the Special Effects being added in post production!
Pre-cgi Clifford is a nightmare
Clifford in general is a nightmare
Bad cgi even after
Pre CGI Clifford is like something from five nights at Freddy's
Post-CGI Clifford is also a nightmare.
The more you fear him the bigger he grows

I liked Old.
I find it so frustrating when movies do these incredible practice effects and then make it all look CG in post anyway 😣
Especially when the cgi isn’t even good at the end 😅
I LOVE CRUELLA BECAUSE OF THE AMAZING DRESSES!
@@beep.boopwall yes a trash dress is amazing
Ikkrrr they're so creative
Genuinely I was fairly dismissive of the movie, and am still yet to watch it, but my god the costume design!
I found the mirror dance scene effects most impressive!

"The long awaited sequel to Space Jam finally came"... said nobody ever.
If I see that Red Dog thing in the middle of the road midnight I would be horrifyingly terrified
Absolutely fascinating! It gives a whole new meaning to movie magic! The level of genius it takes to create these movies is incredible

They should've gone with an animated Clifford versus a CGI one.
wut ?
@@unicornhuntercg Hand-drawn animated
@@EkardRimidalv In a live action movie where all other dogs are live action dogs ?
@@unicornhuntercg No ofc
There was already an animated Clifford movie...
CLIFFORD WITH NO CG IS NIGHTMARE FUEL!
There's no way that Clifford "reference" was even remotely useful to the digital effects artists.

It was to give actors the feel and to know what to do
Glad to see not everything is CGI
I have more respect for these movies. Seeing the amount of work that goes into it. It's amazing. I had no idea
It takes a ton of creativity.
Clifford is a nightmare in both filming and cgi
Clifford without the cgi is terrifying
It's pretty interesting what goes on behind the scenes of every movie in the world.
this can really make you appreciate the movies more XD
I worked as an extra on the scene in the park where Clifford chases the giant ball, and all they had was a guy running around with a red Clifford head that wasn't even that big.
for some reason my favorite detail is "10 Aston Martins" becasue of how random it is

So sad that so many of the movies bombed after all of this hard work went into making them
That’s cool and all but can you guys make a video about pizza
THE LONG AWAITED SEQUEL TO SPACE JAM!
13:05 oh God no poor BMW i8 just why

Clifford makes much more sense now
Actually the dance scene in last night in soho was filmed all at once with the actresses ducking under the camera sight line
Wait, There was a Clifford the big red dog film? Guess it flopped so bad I must've missed it.
It was pretty bad
It's a shame really, the old animated ones were great as a kid.

You know, Sokovia in Avengers Age of Ultron’s final fight was technically moving, just saying

Afterlife!

Thanks for showing!
Think of the new Space Jam wahatever you want but I am impressed about the effort they put into it.

More of these kind of videos, please !!!
This is awesome!!!
They could have made Clifford dog-red instead of crayon red, but oh wel
I like crayon red it takes me to my kid years

Is the guy Bob Odenkirk trained with the guy from the MST3K Future War?! Wow!
3:41 'real life basketball stars were converted to 3D.'

God i can't take F&F seriously not matter how good the stunts is
Same 💀 Like I get that they keep making movies 'cause it's still profitable but at this point I feel like it's too much 😅

wow Amazing!

Does clifford before cgi remind anyone of lion dances?
Get a glimpse on how "Children of men" was shot. You'll find some great ways of doing a master-shot ;)
The dog is more beautiful without the special effects!
You’re in a park at night you hear rustling and see that approaching you, what do you do?
Why do they use only green screen for editing, what's the reason for not using any other colour ?
Because green is One of the less used colors in clothes

Wow insider, I literally counted 10 ads during the entire video.
Huh, I only got the ad before the video? By the way in case you would say so, I have no adblocker or youtube premium or anything like that.
How about u get UA-cam premium? Remember, there's no free lunch in this world!
remember kids, not everyone has the money to get stuff like youtube premium :)
Am trying to say why Insider has so many ads for a mere video.
Whats the name of the first movie??
I finally watched cruelly yesterday
Fun fact fast n furious was filmed in my country Georgia!🇬🇪
