@@SherylPlouffe Sorry but isn' that pretty obvious? If one has the system requirements, they can easily use a virtual background anyways.. nothing new about it ..
My question would be if there was more space between you and the green screen and plenty of light as to not cast a shadow...would the edge key around your hair line still be fuzzy? The green screen you have is reviewed to not be great for web broadcast because its too small and you'll catch the open sides of it when trying to do a 16:9 wide green ratio .... Thoughts?

I was actually stoked to see the hurdle of not having a compatible computer for no green screen being hit, as I support all these non tech users claiming they have a 'modern' machine but can't get virtual backgrounds right. Some people just assume everyone joining their Zoom call has the required hardware and then claim it is an IT issue when some participants backgrounds jank out.
I have used a green screen because my former computer did not have one built it. With the physical green SCREEN, the pixels were absolutely perfect. Now I have a new computer and although it does have a built-in green screen, it is less than desirable and I prefer to go back to the inconvenient physical green SCREEN. Has anyway else found this to be true and did you figure out why? Was it the quality of the computer? Or is there no way around this situation?
Dear Sheryl, thanks for your video. Q: Is this with the free Zoom version, I don't think so right? Because I cannot manually adjust the keying. Hi Cheryn. If your PC has the minimum requirements as outlined in this video you should be able to use the Zoom green screen feature without a physical green screen. Yes, in that case you would uncheck the box.
I have a 8 core cpu running at 4.7 ghz. with 32 gig of main memory, which means I have substantially in excess of the processing power you said was required to use a virtual background without a green screen. But there is significant distortion when I move my head, since the headphone goes in and out. Is there a way around that? Thanks in advance.
I've used Virtual Background WITHOUT a green screen. I just had a well lit white wall behind me. Using the color picker in Zoom Virtual Background dialogue box, I selected the white color on the wall. I was careful to avoid white clothing. @SherylPlouffe was standing too close to her green screen. Shadows or creases on the green screen can cause it to render imperfectly (around the edges of our figure/hair). The screen has to be lit well to avoid shadows.

@@SherylPlouffe I didn't see the part where you demonstrated both. I saw that your computer doesn't meet the requirements and the several minutes where you showed the settings while using the green screen. Did I miss the information? It was a great informational video if you DO have a green screen.
@SHeryl Plouffe also I just realized the extensive extremely useful resources links you shared to help us all! THANK YOU!!!! Best video I found on this subject when I needed info in a hurry.
Thanks so much Linda. You are so welcome! Are you subscribed?
Your genuine effort and practical approach is really appreciable. Do keep making more videos...you have a belief in what ever topic you talk.
What camera are you using?
Nice, now I know how to change my background depending on a topic I'm going to discuss with my students. Thanks.
What's the web cam u r using
thankyou so so so so so much.. i was so confused being a teacher that how many things i gotta use for this kind of video.. i am so thankful to you that you've put all things under one roof for me.. much love from India
I'm so happy you found this helpful. Thank you for your feedback Jasleen. Are you subscribed? I do take video requests :)
Never could have figured this out without your video. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing... Great video!!!! Can you use custom or personal videos as a background on ZOOM (loop mode) ? Thanks again.
does this also work with mobile device versions?
Thanks for your the information. But how can I change my zoom background using a smart phone?
Great question! Sign in to the Zoom mobile app. While in a Zoom meeting, tap More in the controls. Tap Virtual Background. Tap the background you would like to apply or tap + to upload a new image. Give it a try and let me know how it worked for you.
@@SherylPlouffe Thanks for your loving response, there's practically no virtual background in the "more" of the zoom app in my asus phone
i have a problem in using zoom call for teaching because when i use screen share student's photo appear on the side but mine disappear.tell me what should i do? i am not well versed with zoom call. i am using laptop. tell me what should i do?
Hi, as few comments below, title is misleading.
I appreciate the feedback nontheless Art.
I love Zoom tutorials and their instructors . I am senior and had trepidations about using the computer period .
You have opened my eyes and my vision so I may reach out to family and friends .
Thank you so much
Rita Mostacero
hi. could u plz write the names of websites here for picking the background pics. thanks a lot.
There are many options but some of my favourite are: www.pexels.com www.unsplash.com www.pixabay.com
I found the video very helpful... with or without green screen technology. I don't have a green screen, and my computer does have the horsepower (technical jargon!) to use a virtual background without a green screen. I checked the green screen box and had a fun several minutes looking at the creepy results (my tongue sticking out of a hole that's my mouth but colored with the background image). Of course, I won't scare anybody on the other side of the call (hhhhmmm... why not?). Thanks!
Madam you are so lovely. This is how video should be made for attending any meeting all over the world.Madam your explanation about zoom video really describes the core concept which none of other video channels has failed to make.I am looking forward for more video of yours on Zoom conferencing about how to set the principles and the rules in order to make awesome platform for communicating with people all over the world,It doesn't matter whether the background is black or green, what matter is simply put the logic in implementation.
What laptop camera are you using that clips on the top?
I'm using my favourite webcam of all time the Logitech 4K Brio. Here is a link to my video gear recommendations. Totally optional but in case you're wondering: www.amazon.com/shop/sherylplouffe
I think the title is correct and it did answer my question. A million of thanks, Sheryl
You are so welcome Juana. Thank you so much. Glad it helped.
I have a green screen but it is huge but it does not a the screen. Any tips?
Well explained, thank you !
You are so welcome. Cheers. Are you subscribed? I also take requests :)
can I do that as guest? I mean I attend a zoom meeting, I call a phone # then I join. So how can I set up my virtual background, or otherwise I will have to show my real kitchen with pans everywhere or I have to put my japanese tree flower room divider to hide the kitchen.
Guests can absolutely change their backgrounds. Give it a try! Cheers!
Very interesting! Will consider the helpful tips, for future use!
Glad it helped Bernice. Cheers! Are you subscribed?
I dont have a green screen, and I don't have a Mac. I have an HP PC. Can I just upload a virtual background of my own choosing and uncheck green screen? I actually chose your tutorial because it said without a green screen.
Hi Cheryn. If your PC has the minimum requirements as outlined in this video you should be able to use the Zoom green screen feature without a physical green screen. Yes, in that case you would uncheck the box.
@@SherylPlouffe Thanks for confirming!
I have check it out your video of Zoom Virtual Background Without Green Screen. very Useful. I have liked and subscribed your channel.
P.P., thank you for watching and commenting. I truly appreciate the feedback. Cheers!
Your comment was way more helpful than the video. Manually picking the background color worked. Thank you!
Sheryl, I have watched many UA-cam channel educational videos and this is by far the the best computer instruction video I have ever seen. It is so professionally shot and left no questions unanswered. I subscribed to your channel and I appreciate the time you take to share your knowledge with us. I am looking forward to viewing your other videos and newly released ones. Be safe.
Thank you so much Murray. You just made my day. I'm putting the final touches on a new Zoom video as we speak. Thank you Sir.
Sheryl I finally got it. My virtual background is better. Thanks so much for the tips.
Thanks for the tips, Sheryl. That was very helpful and well done.
Thank you so much. I don’t use virtual backgrounds so much anymore though. I prefer physical backgrounds but thanks for the feedback.
Thank you. This was very helpful. As a middle school teacher, you now have me wanting your green screen. lol
nice class with you. I hope to learn how to screen shot.
What is the type green screen you used?
I'm using the Elgato green screen in the 2nd half of the video.
@@SherylPlouffe I have terrible lighting in my office. I'll purchase what is needed. In addition to the Elgato screen, what else should I get? What are the best/most cost effective lights? I appreciate your time.
Jodi O'Hara A ring light is a great place to start!
@@SherylPlouffe Thank you. I am concerned it won't be enough light, but I'll start there I guess.
Jodi O'Hara you may be surprised, but if you still need lighting let me know and we will come up with a solution that works for your workspace. Cheers!
