Hey, I tried the same mod as you did, but it didn’t work for me until I split the media converters. I moved one of them to the wall outlet about 15 feet away from my audio rack, and connected it to the other one in my rack with a 15-foot fiber cable. Then I used a shielded Cat6 cable from the second media converter to my streamer. That did the trick for me and I noticed a difference in the sound quality.
I'm very glad that it improved the sound quality for you...that's what I like to hear.
Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately I returned it because I did not hear an improvement, and so I used that money towards (I've ordered) a highend USB cable by Cardas Clear (I've only used the freebie USB cable that came with my Eversolo DMP-A6) so we'll see if I hear an improvement.
Also, I may not have heard an improvement because I already have 2 components with galvanic isolation but they are after my Eversolo DMP-A6 streamer: Denafrips Iris 12th (ddc) and Denafrips Pontus II 12th-1 (R2R dac).
This video showed I was trying to see if adding galvanic isolation in front of my Eversolo DMP-A6 streamer can further improve.
Understood, FWIW, I still run an iFi LAN silencer after the second media converter plugged directly into the DMP-A6 (with a shielded Cat6 cable) and I swear I hear an additional improvement in the noise floor. Probably bias but...
