      Hi April🙋‍♀️it’s amazing what a few pieces of scrap wood and a table cloth can do🤣 I recently was out running some errands and thought I’d take a look and see how much the decorative ladders cost… the ones I saw were $60!! Yikes 😳!! It pays to think outside the box. Thanks for your sweet comment 🤎🤎🤎

    Great DIY on the ladder - so cute with the baskets. My thoughts on the hoosier is to leave her as is after a good cleanup. The refinishing could ruin that gorgeous patina. She's pretty just the way she is in my opinion. You can accent with your favorite green things inside instead.

    Oh my I’m in love with that hosier cabinet!!! I would clean it up and leave it chippy!!! I may even try to use some elbow grease and get to that green layer in spots. You definitely could chip at the whit spots a bit. Yes you can sometimes heat and strip, it won’t give an overall removal method but if you’re going for the chippy look it’s a good option to try! I would just deep clean the inside and line the drawers with some vintage paper. There are many good strip solutions you can get at lowes or Home Depot that would take it to the bare wood, just spray or wipe them on and then let it sit and do all the work, then you go back and scrape it off! The top is original and I would not touch it! It’s perfection as is! What a treasure!!! I can’t wait to see it after you’re done with it. And I love your ladder and the tablecloth curtain. Great video Melanie! ❤️ ❤️

    I have the same ladder & basket situation going on across our kitchen window cabinets. I had faux “dried” florals hanging in bunches for fall/halloween. So many possibilities for decorating a hanging ladder like that.

    Melanie I love above your window. The baskets look great. John has stripped several of those in years past. Typically on cupboards that were originally painted they didn’t use really good wood so the color of the wood isn’t the prettiest when it’s stripped. It also is a major job and very time consuming to refinish it. The wood under the paint will not be the aged wood color that the drawers and inside the cupboard are. I’m sure whatever you decide to do will be fine. Love and blessings 💚💛💚

      Thanks so much dear friend I appreciate the info. Oh how gorgeous it would be if the wood underneath the paint looked like the wood inside the cupboard. I’m going to leave it as is. It took a long time to get its beautiful aged look. You are in my thoughts and prayers sweet friend ❤️❤️❤️

    We have stripped furniture a few times. Not difficult. You brush it on, wait until it buubbles up and loosens, then lift the paint off with a flat scrapper tool.Wipe it down. May have to redo it depending on how many layers of paint.

      @melaniethompson6353  5 місяців тому

      Hi Brenda 🙋‍♀️thanks so much for commenting. That sounds easy enough. Does the stripper have a lot of fumes? Or is it something that can be done indoors?

    That Hoosier 💚💚
    I was given a Hoosier years ago that had a 1980's country stencil paint job but had the green band enamel top..so I did some research..gotta love Pinterest..and saw some examples with the green and I mixed paint until I got the right color ..now this was 12 years ago I painted it and I'm actually tired of the color now. and I just bought paint stripper to see what it would look like taking down to bare wood... Love yours by the way..

      Hi Pam🙋‍♀️thanks so much for the sweet comment! I too love Pinterest 😊I’ve been getting a lot of great feedback and everyone says the green band and white enamel is original so I’m really happy about that. I’m definitely on the fence about what to do with it…I’m a little nervous that I might scratch the wood when scraping off the paint…if you’d like you can send me a picture to my email address it’s linked in my description box of my videos and on my home page. I’d love to know how it turns out after you strip the paint off. Please keep me posted. Have a great week 🤎🤎🤎

    Hi Melanie!
    First off love what you did over your window!!!! So well executed and so charming!!!! Your Hoosier cabinet is gorgeous!!! My suggestion is to get a led paint tester before scraping or disturbing any layers… if so, that would require some protective gear and quite a lot of prep. I’d start there, and then make next decisions. Stripping that piece would be a project for sure, but it would be worth it… just take your time! Alternatively, if there is lead paint and you didn’t want to risk exposure, you could seal the entire piece as it is to prevent further chipping and be able to use the cabinet for decor and display! Good luck!! A great heirloom nonetheless’❤

    The top hasn't been painted. It's the original enamel top and you wouldn't want to strip that if that's the direction you take. Personally I think the paint is quite lovely on this piece. I love the green paint under the white. A heat gun may remove the top layer and you could have some green peeking through in some areas. Any way you decide to go it'll be lovely!

      Hi there🙋‍♀️thanks so much for your sweet comment. I love your idea about just chipping some of the white paint off to allow more of the beautiful green to peek through! That would look beautiful! That old green just Appeals to me. I looked and looked for a couple years for green handled rolling pins and had no luck then last year my sister in law surprised me with 2 of them for my birthday. I have a few different vintage pieces in that green and I treasure them. Have a wonderful week 🤎🤎🤎

    The enamel is original. You could sand in spots to distress more & maybe show more green. Some came from the factory with a painted finish. Depends what wood was used. No matter what finish you choose, it will be so sweet all decorated. I just got mine recently...her name is Stella Sellers & she's gorgeous. (Sellers is the manufacturers's name.)
