Went to a very moving tribute to Bill last month in the Upper West Side, and was pleasantly surprised to stumble across this. Bill reminders us that following a particular process doesn't require us to become slaves to it, but its usually more practical to be more flexible as designers than following conventions. Seems obvious, but I constantly see people following schools of thought or methodologies as religions and not the sort of informal guides that I believe Bill expresses here.
