- Hair care is a part of my self care and how often I retwist my own locs has changed over time 🌿 In the 3+ years I've had traditional locs, I have adjusted my self maintenance schedule and going WITHOUT A RETWIST for 3 weeks (with starter locs) to up to 3 months (with mature locs). This video explains how I found a locs maintenance frequency that works for me, the 5 times a year I do my full Wash and Retwist locs maintenance day and WHY! ✨ #LocJourney #HairCare #locs

I have been loc for a year now. I just started watching your videos and it has really helped me get over not retwisting often. And just embracing my locs and my natural. I have really enjoyed this journey and you have done well with the videos please continue. This is month 2 for me with no retwist. Thank you!!!
I love my frizz. Gives me volume. ❤❤❤❤
I love that for you!! Yes, I love the fullness that frizz gives.. sometimes it feels like an illusion but it's all real too 🧡🌿 There's beauty in the movement of our hair!!
I currently have a goal set out, my longest time gone without a retwist ever. 6 MONTHS. I just hit 4 months, so I gotta stay strong. I also like the metaphor you used about the garden. The idea is to let my garden OVER grow so that the next time I clean it up it will be extremely replenished & rejuvinated.
Oh wow.. that's amazing. You can do this!! 🌿🌿 May I ask why 6 months? I'm sure I've seen someone I follow on Instagram say that they retwist twice a year, so it's possible. Thank you, I'm glad my example makes sense... yes, exactly that. Replenishment and rejuvenation 🧡🧡 Best wishes to you, you're 2/3 of the way to your goal!
I RETWIST 2 TO 3 MONTHS😊 IT WORKS FOR ME😊 I LEAVE IT UP FOR A MONTH😊 WEAR IT DOWN FOR A MONTH😊 WASH ONCE A MONTH😊 WORKS GREAT FOR ME😊 GREAT INFO❤❤❤
Your video inspired me, I'm 6 months in and started them with length. I was concerned about my frizz because my hair is sheep's wool thick lol. I love your locs and I will embrace the frizz and stop fighting it. They're coming along and I can tell they're gonna look like yours, all pretty and full...thank you
Thank you so much.. I appreciate you for sharing. Happy 6 months to you 🌿😄 Dealing with frizz is a common challenge so you're not alone. Sounds like your hair is beautiful... enjoy the beauty in its fullness! You're welcome and I'm glad this video served you 🧡
Nice to hear someone actually from the uk l can relate 😊
Haha.. I hear you 😌 I hope my content continues to serve you well.
I understand er’thng ..I went with my OWN experience how I took care of my hair from way back in the beginning WMMD(what my Mama did) and 💥 I do my LOCS as being a loose natural 😉 wash, and deep condition yass and air dry, grease scalp, DONE! I only interlock (2 pt rotation) and it last 12wks…😉 Jan, April, July, Oct ONLY! Stylist have all these do’s/don’t my Mama had my hair down my butt with washing, grease/💦 until 23yrs old, had gheri curl, perm went back natural but never deviated how Mama did my hair ☺️
I love that for you. Thanks for sharing your experiences and knowing yourself for yourself 😃🧡🌿 Enjoy your journey as it continues!
I watch a lot of videos but I never comment. I love your retwist approach. I definitely have to CASE it (copy and steal everything). I’m excited about picking my reset months.
I thank you and appreciate you for commenting on mine 😊 Haha I love that... CASE away! Let me know what months you decide, and most importantly, may that schedule serve you abundantly 🌿
I've gotten closer to what you describe, but my locs are very thin, and hair texture is brittle (whole life). I think I do every 3 months, but I need to work on a stop at a salon.
I seen your gorgeous hair on IG and commented 🤗 didn’t know you had a channel and new subbie..I absolutely ❤ your GORGEOUS LOCS ..👏🏾👏🏾. I’m 6 months and ❤ everything loose, frizz, wavy puffy roots and ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥 them.
Thank you for engaging with my content and welcome to my online community 😃🧡🌿 I receive and appreciate your kind words. Congratulations on 6 months!! Continue to love on yourself.
Your approach has helped me to embrace the frizz--I can persist with my starter locs, now. Was getting VERY discouraged but thank you!
I love this for you!! Frizz is a forever friend for me, so it makes me happy that you're embracing yours too. You are so welcome.. being present with your journey and keep me posted 🤓🧡
I love your thoughtfulness. I wash weekly and retwist every 5-6 weeks, but I’d like to start stretching that closer to a solid 8 weeks. I have very fine medium to low density hair, and it breaks very easily. Because my locks are small/slim, if i stretch too long, my roots could thin from breakage. I’m trying to find a balance though, and not be obsessive about when I “should” retwist because I’ve come to accept that some breakage is inevitable for my type of hair. this was the case when I was a loose natural as well.
Hey, thank you. I appreciate you for being here and sharing your experiences with me 😊 I'm so pleased to hear that you're understanding your context and doing what is right for you... that's so essential. May your hair be its healthiest as time continues 🌿🌿🌿
Thank you for sharing your location maintenance thoughts on retwisting. I love what you’re doing! I have microlocs, only 212. But because they are smaller than traditional locs I maintain with interlocking. I have stretched my interlocking to every 4.5 months. Well, twice now I have done this. Both times I wanted to stop interlocking entirely. It’s almost summer and I plan to be in the pool swimming so I interlocked this month. I will think about interlocking again in October or I will continue retwisting until next June. Not sure yet. My retwists are done on damp hair. I use this time to separate any hairs that are in the wrong pic and recap the strands around the correct loc. That’s my retwist. No oils or palm rolling or clipping locs in place. I will do this simple retwist after most shampoos. When I interlock I realize new loc length. When I retwist there’s no appreciable change in the length of my locs. This works for me. I’m still finding my way tho. I’m only 2 years and 2 months loc’d. Even tho I have microlocs I am a new subscriber. This was a very good video. 🎉
Hey Betty 😃 Thank you for being here and sharing some of your journey here with me. It's much appreciated and it's lovely for me to read about others' experiences on my content. Happy 2 years and 2 months (maybe 3 months now!). I'm pleased you're doing what's right for you 🌿🌿
Your locs are beautiful!
Thank you so much 😀 I appreciate the kind words
I'm two months locd I want to retwist next in 2 months I'm loving the frizz I'm embracing it
Happy 2 months!! And I love this for you =)
i want to go a solid 4 months especially since loosing my edges and two locs to postpartum hair loss.
Thank you for sharing this with me. Oooo 4 months, what's the longest you've gone without a retwist? I'm sure new locs will emerge for you 🌿🧡 Did you lose them in the same place?
@@oliviadhinds I think the longest I’ve gone is three months I would like to push past it but I tend to give in 😭 I just send you a DM of the state they are in sis❤️❤️❤️
You'll reach you goal. Don't be so hard on yourself. Some transformation or transition journeys take a little longer 🌿 and okay, I'll check it out as soon as I can 🧡
I'm dec 10. Welcome Sag❤
Hey hey! Thanks for being here 🧡🌿
@@oliviadhinds you are very welcome🩵
Loce youre vidio ,l am 2 monds do you have sone tios for me .can. I tetwist 9 to 12 weeks ❤
Hey! Congratulations on starting your journey. Everyone is different and so what worked/works for me may not serve someone else, so I can only share my lived experience. For new starters, those within the first 12months of having locs, my best advice would be to "trust the process". Take the time to be present with self and learn how you can prioritise hair health OVER loc length 😊🧡🌿 You can follow me on Instagram (instagram.com/oliviadhinds) where I have soooo much content about my journey which may help you make progress on yours.
