Unlike the Fender demo video released today, 9-5-2023, you can tell Andy has actually heard a MBV song.
lolll
This is typical tho. Everyone else just plays the same blues licks, Andy will play in every genre, because he actually knows what he's doing and his mindset isn't stuck in 1978
I want to point out, that when using a fender blender or ampeg scrambler and clones with similar topology, using the tone knob on your guitar is paramount. With too much highs at the input, the fuzz will just go crazy. With tamed highs, the fuzz will have room to create overtones without going ugly.
Cheers for those tricks Jesse. Hit the Expand button, let this pedal add the highs if needed. I've just ordered this genie in a box. Those ugly
overtones and hot spots, I'm discovering particular frets on different strings, eg. B, more near the 12th fret, can create a messy dissonance, even when
played with another natural harmonic note/s, same on totally different guitars. Trying to map these potholes to sidestep, or for effect to jolt the listener's attention lol.
This is great. Was so bummed to see these snatched up and then skyrocket in price online! Amazing demo, Andy. You’re such a killer player (and a fantastic presenter too).
On the plus side, we can now laugh uproariously at the people who bought them at those crazy prices. Don't feed the scalpers, everyone!
That intro was sick! Gave some great genre-adjacent tones without compromising your unique playing style and it all showed off the range of use cases the pedal has.
Sounds rad to me; there’s a reason why Fender collaborated with Kevin, the sounds and tones speak for themselves. Andy is the G.O.A.T. (Spitty octave fuzz is my fav setting)
That first jam sounds like "Ecstasy & Wine" era MBV mixed with Dinosaur Jr -- nice one, Andy!!
It's still impossible to sound like the record without a ton of amps, processors, pedals, a dozen offset guitars playing at the same time and mastering Kevin's technique.
This isn’t even really a main fuzz of his. Most people will never get his sound. But it’s still a really cool piece of gear.
@@fuzzboi2712 exactly. people don't know hes been using a boss sd-1 this whole time
I’ve read that there weren’t as many tracked guitars as people always say.
@@fergadelics yeah i think it was like 2-4 tacks for most
@@fergadelics and not as many effects as people think, either. Mostly fuzz, reverse reverb and some amp tremolo.
One of the undiscovered perks of just about any octave-up fuzz is that if you set the fuzz intensity very modestly, and pick near the bridge, using the bridge pickups, you can often get a very passable "electric sitar" sound. Seriously.
My two most recent purchases are a coral style danelectro sitar that I'm planning on running through this when it ships hopefully before December!
I like all the knobs and buttons to tinker with. I have more fun with these than changing settings on an app or screen.
Andy makes this seem way more usable than Kevin Shields and J Mascis did :)
you wouldn't get it
incredible demonstration Andy
Simp
Thank you, I had fun with this one! 👊💥
Andy you're a star
Sweet, everloving lord. These are the tones of the desecrated Gods.
Thanks for this great demo! Every other video out there is just someone playing their guitar through the pedal without actually going through each setting, it amazes me it took this long for someone to do a proper review.
Shoegazers will go nuts. After they buy theirs, and more units are on Reverb than in the stores, it'll be discontinued again. I give it two years max.
Not really. The European used market is shite. People buy new, but nobody manages to sell.
@@vreevroowItalian used market is a little better. We have our dedicated platform and prices are regularly around a 10% lower than reverb, if not more
the way of most pedals
@@camillaquelladegliaggettiv4303 giusto, su Reverb le commissioni sono indecenti.
So this is reminding me of a Fender Blender with the "Swell" circuit (the Sag) from the Prescription Experience (based on a Foxx Tone Machine octave fuzz) with an octave divider for the lower octave. Sounds pretty awesome in any case. Now where's the new MBV album?
Long and McQuade in Canada are now selling these online for $409.99. It's a great pedal!
Called L&M as soon as I saw this video 😜
Oh, well I obviously need this.
I just came here to read all the late 30s "post hipster" shoegaze experts arguements about all the minutae of Kevin Shields sound.
Haha Yes! Waiting for the Andy demo since the day this pedal was announced. The things you could do with this pedal.
This does what the guitar spaceship on the cover of Boston's first album is doing to the planet. Farewell, dear Earth...
so, there's at least two people in the world that can make this sound good
I have an old 60's fender blender, it is a messed up gnarly fuzz
Wow, what a cool texture machine. The only thing I can think of that would make this pedal better would be presets.
Everyone loves Andy!
Oh myy gawwddd this has some serious industrial/noise potential.
Im gonna get skanky and burnt on my coral/dano sitar, brutal and nauseous on my bastard of a bass Bass VI.
ohhh yeahhhh.
Then come the synths and drum machines.
Suboctave fuzz is so my shit, they sold me with the interactive starvation though...my first pedal holy grail was when i finally got my DOD buzzbox, and later the meatbox.
I got scalped hard on the sunn lifepedal before they announced an unlimited normal production later,so glad thats not happening again.
I havent been this excited for a new pedal since the eqd/dba time shadows that thankfully i didnt get scalped on haha.
Great demo and a wide variety of tones and textures! Andy, did I hear some 'pickless' pinch harmonics near the end? Oh yeah!!!!!!!!!👍
Thanks! Every once in a while I’ll conjure some pinch harmonics with fingers, it all depends on the pedal!
Didn’t Billy Corgan use a blender back in the day??
He got one from Kevin actually. Look at Slunk live in Japan to hear it. It's also used in BWBW during the outreach when it goes crazy.
FINALLY!
£279 and it doesn't come with a dedicated power supply - unbelievable
not to argue but i don’t think 99% of pedals come with power these days 🤷♂️
Maybe my hearing is shot from having seen MBV live in 91 but I’m not hearing some critical element necessary for creating new music in that spirit.
Andy Rips
I've always been saying that Andy looks like Kevin Shields, maybe more people will see it now
Wow! I never noticed that until now. Yeah if Andy grew out his hair he totally could be a KS clone
Good Jams Andy, sounds like Dinosaur Jr
Thanks so much, I tried to hit that style since Shields and J are friends!
SAG is for save all guitars.
What's 'save all guitars'?
Dude, I just want those knobs for my Fender Strat build. Where can I get those?! Lol (seriously, those knobs are what I've been looking for...) --Jason ✌🏻&❤
@@AndyDemos I have witch hat knobs that are similar, want these specifically cause they have the Fender F logo on the caps! Wish Fender sold replacement knobs like these, 🙂 --Jason ✌🏻&❤
Buy a pedal out of their Hammertone budget series and switch knobs. They all have those knobs.
Check Stew Mac, they probably have those or very similar.
@@kunkmiceter Yeah I've google's, Bing'd, and Brave searched a lot. eBay had a few very close, I'm after genuine Fender replacement parts or pulled off Fender stuff. The challenge makes it more satisfying when building my partcasters, 🙂 --Jason ✌🏻&❤
Ok I take back my recommendation. Not that the Hammertone series is bad. I only have the Space Delay which I got in a lot of pedals I bought and it's fine, nothing special, I use it for slapback, ANYWAY, I pulled off the knobs to check how they would look on my Squier Supersonic, but no, the knobs on the Hammertone series are D-pot knobs. And I have yet to encounter a guitar with D pots.
amazing great!
This guy is a great guitarist, but this pedal was not made for solo stuff. It's all about using the sag feature with tight rhythm playing. If you dial it in right, the slightest change in your picking/strumming input results in different overtones which add a new dimension to, and complements, whatever melody you are playing.
Sounds great are you going into an amp or plugin? Great playing Andy
Sounds glorious IMO but theres no way I pay that...
hell yes
Not seeing any listings to buy it. Who wants money?
Like what?@@Dr.Garlic.
@@Dr.Garlic. they'd be a winner in my book.
So is it essentially a blender with a power sag? Like the $9.99 Dano adapter with the roller knob for voltage?
Kinda sucks that they won’t be shipping until December
No mine shipped out yesterday! Its out now!!!
@@hotbrakepads Really? Sweetwater is taking preorders for December arrival and Fender’s site shows out of stock. 🤔
I still only see scalpers selling. Is it just not there yet?
Malekko Chaos kind of does this
Nice Mascis-izing!
I guess that guy with his first run unit listed for $830 on reverb is gonna be real bummed about this release.
That’s what I was thinking! The original run comes with some extras, I believe, plus they are all signed by Kevin himself. For hardcore MBV fans I’m sure it’s still the one to get.
@@gigahais the exact same pedal though? Quality of components etc..?
Easy come easy go, or no go
Still have the noiseless pups In your JM ultra? I couldn’t pull mine out of that same guitar fast enough
A few years ago I sent it to Black Bobbin who installed their Lollar pups and a Mastery 👍🏻
And to think some suckers paid thousands for this
I came close to doing so
hahaha they gonna say that the limited version sounds better
@@afxtwinreverb them saying that: i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/001/096/564/2f7.jpg
Limited version did come with a special box...a plaque on the back of the pedal and a booklet with his autograph(he doesn't sign a lot of stuf f)
@@purrsnickety8269 oooooooohhh who cares
I should have waited…..
I had a fender blender reissue. Sold it and regret it…..
So buy this.
Andy does DOOM! Geez, another fuzz I need but Fender’s got to shrink it down.😎🎸
Andy is daddy
Oh no?? Is this a Chinese built one? Why can't they build them on USA or Mexico?
Most guitarists don't know how to use a fuzz pedal with 2 knobs and an on/off switch. How are they going to cope with this pedal?
Also, next time you demo this pedal use a guitarist who knows how to play Glide guitar.
The switch layout is just all sorts of wrong.
Andy still the most creative fuzz players on youtube
This isn’t KS’s sound…
Такая ерунда,да кому это нужно 😢😢😢 фендер вам должно быть стыдно за такую ерунду!!!!!!
It looks like they're already gone again. Bummer these new ones are made in China. Right or wrong, I wouldn't trust a Chinese pedal in a live situation.
It’s Made in China…
So is the laptop you're typing from.
But my apple device…
@@daveryan2148it’s shoegaze
My farts sound better than that !!!
Where can we listen to them? Must be amazing. Record an album.
Lol opening with close to the worst music I've ever heard
Let’s hear yours
Seriously?! The "worst music you've ever heard"?! No idea how you can think that and be watching this demo - Andy has nailed that 90s alternative/shoegaze vibe. It's the poppier, less experimental end of the spectrum, but it still absolutely nails the style. How you can be watching a demo for this kind of pedal and think it's the "worst music ever" is beyond me! 🤦♂️
Hater alert
The guy from Wolf Alice really rocked this pedal. This demo is very mediocre to me zzzzzzzz
Fender is woke. I don't need their overpriced garbage.
Cool pedal but, imo the "Sag" is basically useless and would've been better as an Octave up footswitch...
second that
Hahaha poor flippers 😂
