Their drumming is fucking tight, man. He doesn't slip even the slightest. I know there are tons of drummers who are even better, but it adds to the simplicity of their music making it easier to listen to them.
nice sounding kit too
could not agree more, the drums are to drool for.
So sad he’s not there anymore
0:00 Easy 3:43 Municipality 8:50 It's Real 12:50 Green Aisles
Thanks man!
You're an angel.
I Like it when someone does this.
:)
unlike other bands, they're not trying to be cool...which makes them so awesome...their music speaks for itself.
*whispers* its free real estate
I like how even though Real Estate are one of the bands that made that reverb-y sound popular, they don't drown their vocals in reverb
Days is a really, really solid album.
That's an understatement. It's a classic
These guys kill it live. I'm so bummed they're not on tour right now...
Just announced one
rocking that mexican telecaster. love it
My squire p-bass plays better than my Fender J, just how it is sometimes haha
King of Clean these guys
8:10 "You keep that one 'In Mind' "
I guess they did lol
loool
I don't think there is a better band right now.
Awesome! Thank you for sharing this great performance.
Absolutely, This band obvious has made a conscious effort to perfect the sound theyre going for, the vocals, the effects, the Album cover and even the color of their instruments.
wow props to the sound guy holy shit
theyre so amazing :) sounds great live.
they're my fave rn, and they even sound great live.
man i love these guys
I think that's part of the joy of listening to new music. Hearing the influence of bands you love.
Excellent performance!
love real estate! they're just...awesome.
Easy, love this track hope you can play this at the Roundhouse, London in June! Love you guys!
i wish i was high in a coffee shop listening to the radio while this was happening
I like to think of the frontman as the kid from Moonrise Kingdom grown up :)
10 years is a long time
Great music! And another reason to live in iceland :) I am definitely moving their when I'm older!
just found these guys... gotta say good stuff! I'll be back for sure!
Vocês são uma banda maravilhosa! as melhores e mais empolgantes músicas! Love you guys, from Brazil!
GOING TO SEE THEM TOMORROW SOO FRICKIN' EXCITEDDDD
They are AWESOME!! :3
Easy and Green Aisles is dope.

this album is unique, probably their masterpiece for all the times
..the next album was even better
Municipality .. so (haunting) ..
just discover this band !
fucking amazing !
muy bueno
Their guitar sound massively reminds me of that of Television, which is one of the reasons why I love them!
They covered a Television song
great band
Tremendous band.
Jeff Goldblum?
The lead singer looks like the guy from the chuck close painting "mark"
wish they turned up matts guitar, way to quiet
Cheryl at the beginning "alright let's see what you got." Love it. Hahaha.
Cheryl is the indie queen
Cheryl in this interview is the best

Real Talk: Real Estate is really, really good.
I fucking love Real Estate
Matt was so good when live at that times
SNL eats up the "plethora" of NPR shenanigans like 7:03-7:28
not the best vocal performance, but the band as a whole totally makes up for it...I"m loving this band...
Its weird, I actually like this way better than the album. The album is too muddy lo-fi for the sake of being lo-fi. I liked that aesthetic at first, but its so overused and makes their already drony music very murky, the crispness of this recording is so refreshing.
Neil Clingerman Really? Are you maybe comparing it to 'Real Estate' (The Album) instead of 'Days'? Because imo these tracks sound much crisper or thinner on Days than they do here. Actually, I like this versions more too, but for the reason that they sound warmer (muddier maybe) than the album version.
Sebastian Paulus I'm not the greatest at describing sound, but I think we'll both agree this version is nicer :).
Muddy? If anything their first album is a little muddy but real estate makes lo-fi crisp and upbeat. Washed Out is muddy.
Chill ass music braj
these are all so much better than the album versions
"show us what you got Real Estate. If you're good enough maybe you will get on to the next round."
Does any one else think the main singer has a striking resemblance to Mr.Jeff Goldblum?
i wanna see martin's ska band.
Same
chill as fuck
I
It may have been an off day...I saw this before I saw them in person and wasn't expecting much, but then they blew me away live, they all sounded spot on!
@gokolink Yeah! That cool slinky sleepy "Marquee Moon" style. It's always reminded me of a sleepy Dick Dale, like surf rock on Nyquil. Super reverb, and dreamy as fuck. Anyways the guy's style is amazing.
@chrislarson15 word, ive been letting this set play at least once a day, haha
i believe that it's a fender musicmaster, i could be wrong though.
anyone know what bass that is? looks like a mustang but the pick guard is weirdly shaped
@Brendan528
long blonde hair?
Yeah, Tom Araya should sing for this band, for sure. That's what they need.
Is someone please able to tell me the model of bass guitar Alex Bleeker has in this video? Please, Please, Please???!!!
it looks like either a Fender musicmaster or bronco
It's actually a Mustang, believe it or not!
It is actually a Fender Musicmaster, but it seems to be modded since the sound is not as thin as it usually is.
@chrislarson15 she talks about iceland
i'm eating tropical Skittles while watching this. Coincidence?
I love them, they kind of remind me of Dinosaur Jr.
I like real estate, and dinosaur Jr. very much. But I would never, ever say that either reminded me of each other.
Andy Horigan
hmm i dunno man look up "pond song" by dinosaur jr. and stuff from bug there are some very very slight similarities, mainly vocal wise
It's like if Death Cab and Dino Jr had a love child out of wedlock.
Yea no offense, but Real Estate is to Dino Jr. as Blink 182 is to LCD Soundsystem, but hey to each his own!
15:42-16:42
Lead vocals sound nothing like the recordings. Drummer is spot on.
Right......
watch how many new bands you will hear called rainbow season now
1:58 Jeff Goldblum?
12:49 - 13:05 sounds like big star's song 13
I'm not sure I agree with that. The singing style is pretty mellow as you point out, but I don't see that as a reflection on his confidence or the quality of his voice (which isn't stellar but also isn't bad). Rather it seems more of a stylistic choice. Vocally I think he compares to Jimmy Eat World or Weezer's singers. To me the arrangements favor a more unified and holistic mood rather than one thing liek the vocals standing out. That's just my opinion though, cheers.
i think they use auto tune and backing up layered vocals, yea his singing voice sucks a lone
@Rowboticwind yeah, but they still have nothing to do with Iceland
A plethora of sitting of on rainbows and eating skittles. LOL
Best comment ever?
@jugjugsthekoolaidman son, u trippin.
MARZO 4 DE 2014....ALBUM ATLAS
08:26 ha
thats really funny because he actually looks identical to my bestfriend and he also plays a jazzmaster and his name is lou
i thought this was SUNNY DAY REAL ESTATE....damn
8:10 and then she names a future album
I just wanted to comment this too :D
can anyone give me some similar bands?
girls, beach fossils, deerhunter, best coast, hala, diiv, grizzly bear, ducktails
Fleet Foxes!
Austin See Alex Bleaker and the Freaks is the bass players solo stuff. Martin Courtney (the singer) has a solo project under his name. And the. There is Ducktails which is another solo project
Austin See BEACH FOSSILS, WILD NOTHING, DIIV, CRAFT SPELLS
Luna
i think "its real" was on the first album, but yeah this performance is pretty limp
They just need another dude to back sing and fill the vocals out a bit on certain songs like on the album, which was stellar vocals btw!
the lead looks like the bass player from alt-j :o
These guys are the biggest hipsters. But man do I approve of their music.
