The hole is made small intentionally so that its hard for them to find there way out and when they fly around inside the bottle, they will not accidentally exit the hole. They will want to find there way inside even if the hole is enough for them to fit.

yes, but if you put a lid on it will just slowly release it when the storage is warming up.
