this car was ahead of it's time. With that technology i can now tell people that it was released in 2017 and people would believe it.

@@tracyabraham3394 bought a 2012 A6 prestige last month - it's 12 years old and feels like it's at most 4-5 years old - the paint job holds up amazing too!

Audi totally understands "balance" and "proportions". Why can't American designers understand this (it's as if Ford, Chevy,etc hire people with absolutely no design skills)? They need to do what Nike did, hire Architects to design and leave performance to the engineers. Never let engineers design anything that is visible! Audi is as close to perfection as you could get.
This would have been the car of my dreams if it just had a manual transmission. I just don't get why every premium car has an automatic, yes it is comfortable but the manual offers better fuel economy, more entertaining driving, often better performance, and it's weighs nothing compared to the damned auto gearbox. Give me an A7 with a 6-speed manual and I'm sold!
Right now, I drive a 2013 A4 premium plus. What would be a good update after? An A6 or an A7? Comfort, fuel economy, and road presence are all equally important for me.

@thugangel662 Some people like it, some people don't. It's a once-in-a-while kind of thing.

@RetroGamerVX So true. Audi/VW reliability and retail experience is totally lacking. They say they're working on it.
@duffsbirdhouse88 Both are pretty great. I guess it would be the A7 for my youth and the A8 for my retirement.

as sleek as audi general design language may be, i`m getting sick of the same ol`same ol`by them slapped on almost all of their models acroos the line up, it takes away heavily from the beauty to see all cars almost identical.
I don't understand why they don't put the new twin-turbo diesel V6 they're got in the European A6. 0-60 in 5.3 seconds. Absolutely amazing. And it'll get 35mpg American.

man i love the look of this car, and everything about it, but sadly so does everyone else, I've already seen one of these in my hometown, which is up in North Central Wisconsin, so not exactly a huge metropolitan area. I just hope they don't become to common of a sight. Great review by the way

I'll take the A6 over the BMW 5-series.
This car is beautiful, reminding me of the CC. My neighbor has a 09 A8 & that thing is always in the shop. VW/Audi just isn't practical.
Hi Steve. Thanks for the review. How is the road noise compared to the A6 and BMW 5 series? Did you get to test a car with 20 inch wheels? I've heard that the A7/A6 are more noisy inside vs similar models from BMW and Mercedes Benz.
All of these new Audi's are beautiful! Great review Steve! I also noticed the areas you test your cars in are very nice. If you don't mind me asking, where do you usually test drive your cars?
@shokid the shift paddles come only with the sports package (summer perf wheels, sports suspension etc.)
can you tell me what one you would pick and why Steve the A7 or A8

My g/f's boss has a 2012 A7 and it has shift paddles, wonder why this one didn't have it. Very nice ride, smooth, powerful, nothing bad to say about it.
Prestige trim fully loaded comes with paddle shifts!

I've had 2 Audi's, reliability was terrable and the dealers were worse! Shame, not too bad looking a car for audi (Audi's always look like jelly moulds), although I don't know any engineers that buy Audi's.
