Exactly. When I was in the market, I was looking at this, the Supra, the Camaro SS, and Cayman. In the end I bought my Supra, primarily because I love the lines, and the simple fact that some of the other priced themselves out. I suppose I could have been swayed a bit if they were faster than the Supra. Then maybe I could have justified it. But getting less of a car, while paying more money, makes no sense.
Yup like everyone says price. These automakers need to to lower prices. If everyone in America do not buy a new car for 2mons the prices will lower. But you have people like this guy on UA-cam knows why but won’t say it
Too track focused and uncompromising. Cheaper interior and bad daily. M2 same price with same track manners and twice the interior and rear seats. The real target here is the Supra but that’s 10k less
Or a new base C8 that outperforms this Nismo Z, or a well equipped Mustang with all the go-fast goodies that'll save you 10 grand. The Nismo Z is a beautiful car, but can't help thinking with those two alternatives, "Gee, I coulda' had a V8 ..."
Agree on thinking this would be a hit! Remember when the first resurgent model came out in what, 2004? Those things were everywhere, from burnt orange to bright blue!
Everybody is always screaming for manual sports cars and convertibles and once they are available, nobody buys them.; big mouths, talking the talk but not walking the walk. Just shut up already and keep buying your RAV 4`s and CRV`s. If the manual sports car dies, it`s the fault of all of us. At least my wife bought another new Z4 M40i, doing her best to keep the segment alive.
How bout the fact that they have hardly produced and delivered any? I just did a search on the Nissan sight thru national inventory. There are currently less than 200 Z's in inventory in the ENTIRE COUNTRY..and most of them get marked up because dealers are greedy and know it's in short supply...made worse by the fact that the sport version comes with ugly wheels and no limited slip, less color choices and it makes it seem like dealers don't want to bother with selling sports cars. I have yet to see a new Z in the wild...it's not the only sports car that this is happening with. I live just outside of Philadelphia in southern New Jersey. There are only 15 Toyota Supras within 100 miles of me and they are all between $62k and $68K. (if they haven't been marked up by the dealers)
Simple..... it PRICE brother.. . I would Love one of these and I'll bet there are a huge number of people who just arent rich enough to afford something like this....then there are those who Can afford it but again, feel its wayy overpriced...
Thanks for a good look at a car that, as you said, is generally invisible. I can’t imagine a circumstance in which this particular model would rise to top my list at this price point, but I can see some tuners making a beast out of it!
It’s $65k for a 20+ year old car with only an automatic. My Mustang Mach 1 was $64k, manual and is significantly faster in every performance metric compared with the Z by a country mile.
Easiest question to answer. Price for somewhat dated architecture and no manual transmission. And the nismo is really what the normal z should be like. Price performance is just not there compared to things like mustangs and for that matter a used Corvette etc
Cars in general have become too expensive especially sports cars so how do you expect any man would responsibilities to own a daily driver or a family car and also maintain a moderate price sports car when these cars are now costing upwards of $40,000-$70,000 to own.
For me I could afford it, the price doesn't matter. But it doesn't have features I want, even if I desire to pay for them. Just comparing it to the M2 it has 18 way power seats, leather seates, adaptive suspension, better stereo and tech, possibility of a manual. You can get none of this on the Nismo. Also the Nismo has stick on body widening strips while the M2 is actually inches wider in the body panels than the normal 2 series.
Nissan should drop the price of each Z by $10,000. Then maybe they would sell. The issue is, it is still a true 2 seater, so they will only sell so many.
Blah, blah, blah...I will never buy a Z, or any sports car, with an automatic transmission. 10.5 years in a 350Z and 3 so far in a 370Z, I am the target audience. I looked at 5 NISMO, 1 heritage edition and 1 performance edition, and I'm just not feeling it. It's not bad, but the 370Z is better. I'm saying this as someone who really, really, wants to like this car.
Calm down about the MSRP. You can buy a new Nismo for just under $60K now. They are not selling quickly, and a few dealerships are giving $9K discounts. I saw one this week for $59,900.
i just did a cargurus search. 3 nismos within 200 miles of me, $70k - $76k. every single one of them is on the dealer lot for more than 100 days. they aren't moving, but dealers aren't marking them down either.
No that is wayyy too much that is why there aren't that many people buying. Plus the car's performance is kind of sub par when looking at competitors. you can get a slightly used C8 for that price.
You can get a high mileage 2009-2013 GTR with this money. While the GTR is dual clutch and enthusiasts like manual Z. An automatic Z nismo is not worth it. I rather buy a halo used Nissan GTR.
No 6MT, zero interest. The reviewer gushes over the automatic and prefers it - that's great - for him. For a lot of us, lack of a manual is an immediate show-stopper. That horrendously cheap and tacky interior? "That can be overlooked." Not for me.
Great cars but they want too much money. I don’t understand and I said this before, why does Japan always wait for our economy to be in the toilet to bring out these great cars when nobody can afford them now, people forget back when they brought out the Z in the 90s, the economy was bad and so they sat on the shelf. And while I will give them credit for the 370 which I think sold the lot, the timing for this car is about 10 years too late, it’s the same thing with the supra. I wanted one of those back in the mid-2000s now it makes no sense to get it now that America is a socialist country.
Looks good. But I would rather get me a Mazda Miata with the manual transmission and the convertible version. Such a fun car I'm sure. Would love that.
It's simple. It's too expensive! It's also missing a lot of options the competition has for less money. It's a very old car for a very expensive price. Period. A Nismo should be 48k max, with a manual option. Not having a manual is a deal breaker
They could've at least added some fake carbon fiber instead of leaving it with that lame dull looking plastic, especially around the gear box area SMH lol
For 5 grand more u can be sitting in a 718 base model. Porsche quality and prestige. Base model M2 coupe 4 grand less. Is 500 start at $60 grand and an RCF $68 grand that's why nobody is buying this car. Tough sell for that much money.
Performance bargain??? What a joke. You can buy a Mustang Dark Horse for that price. And get a 500 hp naturally aspirated V8 WITH a manual if you want.
Too expensive, and the Supra for way less kicks it’s but in a drag and on track proven by multiple UA-cam channels. I’ve owned 3 generations of Z cars and this was the biggest disappointment Nissan has done with the Z. I wish they never made the car.
Oh yeah, I totally forgot about this car. I have yet to see one on the street.
Whats strange is the Z outsells the supra. Hmm.
@@conradsealy9603 lol no. nissan's own sales figures are 1771 z for 2023, vs 2652 supra for 2023.
Whats holding this nismo back????? The cost
The high price of a chassis refresh holds it back. And add stealerships that price them out of the affordable sports car range
Exactly. When I was in the market, I was looking at this, the Supra, the Camaro SS, and Cayman. In the end I bought my Supra, primarily because I love the lines, and the simple fact that some of the other priced themselves out.

@tizodd6 the Supra is an amazing car. The B58 seems to have unlimited potential. Great choice 🎊
I agree, I bought my 350z new in 2006 for $26K now to get the same equipment it costs me $55K, at this price I will just buy a Supra
Almost 70k damn
Dude, for 70k when I was a kid, I would have imagined driving a European luxury model
Way too expensive. That's what is keeping enthusiasts away.
Yet somehow. The Nissan Z outsells the supra. Hmm. I guess some people still want the Z.
@@conradsealy9603 lol no. nissan's own sales figures are 1771 z for 2023, vs 2652 supra for 2023.
@@conradsealy9603 when you get to the nismo, the price balloons.
Boom. Nailed it.
Compared to what? A $45,000 RAV 4 or a $ 40,000 CRV??? Or maybe a $ 55,000 KIA?
A few years ago that kind of money bought you a Porsche Cayman GTS. Inflation sucks.
Crazy
No manual, no adaptive suspension and 10k overpriced BEFORE dealer markups.
Yup like everyone says price. These automakers need to to lower prices. If everyone in America do not buy a new car for 2mons the prices will lower. But you have people like this guy on UA-cam knows why but won’t say it
if you tell the truth, you get punished by youtube and the automakers
What has kept people away from the Nissan Z Nismo? Though this automatic is awesome in this Z, the purists still want a 6-speed manual transmission.
Funny, nobody is buying manuals any more. You can still get them but they are sitting on the lots.
Long time subscriber here. Always a pleasure tuning in to your reviews. You pull no punches, and it’s incredibly appreciated…
I appreciate that!
Awesome 💯
It’s the same price as an M2
And doesn’t have a manual option… Enthusiasts love manuals… of course they are staying away from
Too track focused and uncompromising. Cheaper interior and bad daily. M2 same price with same track manners and twice the interior and rear seats. The real target here is the Supra but that’s 10k less
I live in LA and I've seen 1. Much like the MK8 GTI. I've seen maybe 2 of those.
The Z should start off around 35K and max out around 45K.
Nice car but at that price you can get a preowned C8.

It’s a GREAT vhehicle!!!……….just OVERPRICED by about $15-$20K. 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️
Exactly, i hope the best for future pricing regulations
A "new" car with a 2009 chassis - CHECK!
Nissan is now the Chrysler of Japan. That’s what’s keeping people away.
Dang nice car!

Good review
Glad you enjoyed it
Way overpriced.
Should be 45 at the most
70k might as well get a c7 z06
Too expensive with dealer markups.
No manual option on Nismo Z.
Heavier and could have been more HP / torque.
Idk why but I’m pretty sure this will be the end of the true z, the next z will be electric…

Not worth the price at all …especially with that very cheap interior and no heads-up display. And isn’t Nissan going out of business 🤔
Would love a white one in 2 years when it's sub $40k 🎉

the things that people been holding back is power….
500 hp + 0-60 3.2 sec or else not selling..
Nice car. Too expensive! A dealer near me has had one of these and two lesser models, so to speak for quite a few weeks.
This is cool. Honda forgot coupes. Nissan didn’t
I was close to pulling the trigger then went with a 2019 c7 z06 with 8,700 miles for the same price. So… yea
Price and auto only.
It didn't help that when it came out the dealers had crazy Buzz-killing markups.
