I received a dvd of POPEYE with Robin Williams for my birthday a few years ago. It’s a great movie. I saw it in 1980 in the theater. I was in sixth grade.
This brings back Memories. When was child riding on the bus, the bus driver would always have Paul Harvey new playing on the radio. Once in a while Paul's son would host to show. Thank you for Sharing @Brad Dison.
@@dlengelkes I do. They're mixed in. You can find them by clicking on the videos. I usually say something like, "In times when Mr. Harvey was Ill, Paul Jr. recorded the broadcasts for his." :)
I grew up watching Popeye the Sailer man. I confess I am disappointed how they spinach isn't as good for a person like it originally claimed. When I was a child I didn't like spinach! But now that I am in my 60's I love it! When I go to Subway I always prefer spinach over lettuce on my Submarines!!!! Well thank for this excellent presentation!
What a great rest of the rest of the story! I always loved Popeye and Olive Oyl so it was fun to learn how they were created. I also love spinach, although I don't think that has anything to do with my enjoyment of Popeye. I was disappointed to learn that there isn't as much iron in it as was once believed but it is still a great source of iron and other nutrients. Thanks for sharing your research with us, Brad.
Spring in New Zealand Just planted spinach Maybe i should pull it out😢 My wife who i have been with for 12 years use to bruise easily, with lots of veggie she is much healthier so we may keep it
Another great video. Put a smile on my face the entire time. Can't tell you how many times my mother told me to eat my spinach and quoted the same ol... Eat your spinach so you can grow up big and strong. Cracks me up. Thanks again for the great videos. UA-cam could use about 300 more creators like you. Education instead of more stupid. You take care of yourself. Keep them coming.
No offence Brad. I heard the song as, and when Popeye would sing it, I'm Popeye the sailor man, I'm Popeye the sailor man, I'm strong to the finich, cause I eat "me" spinach. I'm popeye the sailor man! When someone else sings it it's a little better English. I mean it's He's Popeye the sailor man... Ect. I loved singing that song when I was a kid, because it drove everyone around me nuts. Great story Brad. I heard the Paul Harvey story before and remembered it. I knew some of the info, but not all, so again thank you for letting us know.

My brother always sang a version of it that I wouldn’t repeat. He still remembers it word for word. Hahaha.
@@BradDison OH! Yeah I think we sang something "not for innocent ears" too. LOL
I still watch 'Popeye' on MeTV
Really? I’ve got to check that out. :)
I'm Popeye the sailor man, I live in a garbage can, I never go swimming with bald headed women I'm Popeye the sailor man
Hahahaha. I’ve never heard that one. :)
