    Does this Prinsu Pro w 40” cutout come with the LED Bar Brackets? Or do you have to purchase separately?

    • @AZOverland2017
      @AZOverland2017  2 місяці тому

      All Light bars that I've looked at come with their own mounting brackets which should work in the supplied Prinsu slotted crossbar

    Where do you get trim to protect the paint on the underside of the deflector?

      Is it definitely the PRO version you bought? If so, the numbers should be laser cut in the brackets

    I'm looking to install 3/8 antenna mounts on each side of the rack. Do they sell these for this rack? If so would the rack make a solid connection to ground or are ground straps required? Thankd

      Good questions. I would contact the CBI directly with those questions. The mounting locations an options ae so wide that even if the antenna mounts are not made specifically, I would think you can certainly find hardware to make it work

    Great video thank you! Im so torn between this rack, Sherpa Crestone, Cali Raised, Wescott Design, and the Backwoods Adventure Drifter rack. Leaning towards the Sherpa Crestone but for the same price I can get the Cali Raised with the 40" light bar. All im using it for is recovery gear and storage up top but that could change down the road.

    To prevent water intrusion, I was told to put RTV on everything connecting the rack to the roof. So, where the brackets meet the washers and spacers, all around the bolts (it makes a great anti-seize), both sides of the metal and rubber washers, the spacers - top, bottom, inside, the bottom of the channel around the openings... Water can travel in the most annoying ways possible especially at highway speeds. The other thing I was told concerning those front feet that don't bolt into the roof, you need to lift the rack a bit (1/4" to 3/8") with towels acting as shims, set the feet down on the roof and then remove the towels so that there is more downward pressure on the front of the rack. At highway speeds, the rack will want to lift, and this step helps to keep the rack firmly planted on the roof. Otherwise, the front portion of the rack can flutter and cause damage to the paint as well as make an annoying noise. YMMV.

    • @AZOverland2017
      @AZOverland2017  8 місяців тому +1

      I did a similar method with the front brackets. I installed the bolts just before snug and set my gun up on them. I shoved the back of my hand under the side rail at the very front and forced it up with my fingers (I have super hero-like finger strength) Then, I moved the bracket down with the allen head socket on the gun and tightened the bolts. I have absolutely zero movement after testing.
      With the RTV, I overfilled when I injected it down. So the only places I don't really have the RTV is under the washers on top of the bracket and on the base where the rubber weatherstripping is cut away for the "feet". I will definitely be adding more at the bracket feet location. I'm not convinced I really need it under the top washers but if installing again it certainly couldn't hurt. At this point I don't want to disturb the cured RTV.
      Thanks for the feedback, and hopefully others installing will read you comment as I did not include that in the video.

    What’s with the double sided tape? Is that going to peel off after a while?

    • @AZOverland2017
      @AZOverland2017  7 місяців тому +1

      I'm not concerned about it. There are different strengths for this sort of tape. This is on the stronger end of that range. In addition, if you are work the side rails up in a position when tightening the front bracket bolts then lower the rails down, it sits VERY tight on the bracket and tape. There is zero movement up front.

    Can you open the back hatch of the 4runner without the roof rack interfering?

    • @AZOverland2017
      @AZOverland2017  7 місяців тому +1

      Yes. Right now my Westcott ladder does hit the left storage box at a certain height but I just need to slide them forward a little and there wont be an issue.

    Thanks for a great install video. Super helpful. I ended up building the rack on the ground and lifting it onto the rig. But the details you provided were super helpful whichever way someone chooses to go with it.

      @AZOverland2017  5 місяців тому +1

      Glad it worked out well for you. Yes, assembling on the ground is great if you have someone to help get it up there. It becomes especially challenging with short people and a lift vehicle 😆

    Great video! First time watching your channel. I just received my pro rack today for my Tacoma and I too, will be installing it by myself. Your video provided great insight to the process since nothing is yet available on the Prinsu website. I am curious, however, as to what possible install steps you might do differently? TIA

    • @AZOverland2017
      @AZOverland2017  6 місяців тому

      Thanks for your comment. I think I would do it very similarly. If I had to do it again. I would probably add more of the silicone in and around the bolts. I think it'll be easier to install on a Tacoma since it's not as long as the 4Runner roof. You might want to consider when installing the inner rails on the outer rails to clip one side with a spring clamp that'll hold it in place while putting a bolt through the other side. That was probably the hardest part for me. Is putting the two rails together with how long they were? I had to stretch to get a bolt in but very doable either way. Good luck with the install. Let me know if you have any questions along the way. You can always email me if you need more details

    Nice rack! You make DIY look easy and fun. This version is a definite improvement over their previous version. It certainly looks better than what you had before. I think the dynamic load capacity of the roof itself is about one-half of what your new rack can handle, but there are no official specs required by NHTSA so it's hard to say. Regardless, no more jumping sand dunes for you, young man! On a more serious note, you might consider installing the additional crossmember. Certain tents and other equipment require a little more support and you aren't losing anything by having it installed. So, welcome to "The Dark Side." There's no turning back, Anthony! Before too long, I'm sure you'll need to regear your front and rear diffs. That's the way 4Runner ownership goes. It's an insidious, but wonderful affliction! :))
