    I'm not convinced someone who isn't themselves a cross stitcher will appreciate what a vast amount of time goes into a cross stitch

    I just subscribed to you channel. 1982 I began to do counted cross stitching. I played baseball and was the joke of the team as we traveled by bus from stadium to stadium. When I hit 20 I came down with Crohns Disease and it landed me in the hospital. I was a pitcher and was on total colon rest. I could not even eat chopped ice. My sister one day seen my hand and said,”you must be going crazy not pitching. So stitch I did. I’m 55 now. I have so much to share but I just wanted to say I’m glad there are men who stitch

    That's a neat idea to make a small uplifting cross stitch and leave it somewhere for another person. Stitching with plastic to decorate outside is another out-of-the-box solution. I've seen a few flosstubes where pieces were sewn into project bags, including a 'save the stitches' piece found at a thrift store.

      Framing is so expensive if you have a lot of finished pieces. I like the 144 hobbies where she just hangs her finishes on the wall without framing them. Only problem is our house gets dusty

    I have made a campaign project to make a cross stitch for every "Golden Girl" at my workplace and these take around a month or two to complete. It fills my heart with such joy because these women understand how long it takes me to make them and they get so excited for their personalized piece. Not to mention it is a complete surprise for their birthdays! I am thinking about maybe extending my services. I LOVE cross stitching, and find I have more motivation to finish a project if it is for someone else then for myself. One more Golden girl to go!
    I also have a new tradition for my best friend to cross stitch her pieces that symbolize our friendship (hummingbirds and roses) and seeing her face this for her birthday was priceless! It just warms my heart that my craft makes them feel so loved and they appreciate them so much!

    Another idea is to print/ trace a picture, place it over a canvas and use a needle to punch holes into the canvas around the outline of the picture. And stitch as normal. You can paint the canvas before starting to make a nice background. 😊👍🏼

    Has anyone tried the dark room challenge? Basically you choose the colors you are going to use by picking them in a dark room or a room used to develop photos so all you can see are different shades of black. Next do your project and the color combinations turn out beautiful. Have fun, be creative and be kind.

    I like to embroider my clothes, especially blouses. I find that cross-stitch is better suited to clothing than some other stitches because the stitches are smaller and don't wear/shrink as much. It's annoying to spend hours on a design and then see the fabric pucker up at the first washing.

    • @MrXStitch
      @MrXStitch  3 роки тому

      A great idea! Do you use waste canvas to get the grid formation or do you eyeball it?

    • @bethanyb4478
      @bethanyb4478 3 роки тому

      @@MrXStitch Depends on the fabric. If the weave is coarse enough (say 30-40 epi), I'll count the threads. Otherwise, I'll use waste canvas.
