NOLO, an Instrument - "kobyz" (Kazakh: kobyz, gobyz) or Kyl-kobyz is an ancient Kazakh stringed instrument. It has two strings made of horsehair. Resonating cavities are usually covered with goat skin. According to legends, kobyz and its music could exorcise evil spirits, diseases and death and imitate the voices of animals and bells in cattle herds in the Kazakh steppe. Dimash here conveys all the pain of his countrymen, who were driven like cattle to someone else's war (world War I, 1914) as free labor - to dig trenches and rear work. They go on foot, hungry and disenfranchised, not knowing whether to return from the war or not. The guy is only 24 years old. At home, there were old parents who thought that he would be their comfort and support in old age. They go on foot for 15 days, left behind a homeland and mount Samatau where he lived. "Samatau, my wonderful country, my endless lake. What days are waiting for me as a soldier?"

Они идут пешком, голодные и бесправные, не зная вернуться или нет. Парню всего 24 года. Дома остались старенькие родители, которые думали, что он будет их утешением и опорой в старости. Они идут пешком уже 15 дней, позади осталась Родина и гора Самалтау, где он жил. "Самалтау, моя удивительная страна, мое бесконечное озеро, Какие дни ждут меня как солдата?"

I like the way that you have evolved in appreciating all genres of music over the last 2 years (eg, rap, rock, opera, etc.). You should also watch his earlier performance of Samaltau in 2019 in China at the Silk Road International Film Festival. Go to his channel, it’s got English subtitles now. It’s slightly different but equally good. You also get to hear more of the musicians and the stage is remarkable.

Hi🇰🇿🇺🇸🤚🏻that’s kobiz. It’s Kazakh instrument. Yes that’s instrument give images as wind, cloud, and wolf. That’s song about terrible life. It was after First World War. He was in military. And when he came back he can’t found his village and parents. He explained everything for wind. He said I had parents where is everybody? That’s our tragically song 😭😢
