    Unfortunately Coming Out has not always a positive outcome. So the most important rule for Coming Out is: Come out when you are ready and when you have ressources like friends or places where you are safe in the case of extremely bad reactions.

      But you say in this video to closeted young gay people "If you are in the closet watching this and want to tell someone tell them" and "It gets so much better" and "You never regret it" and "It's never a bad thing" and "It's always good outcome, always positive" and "people are just accepting". Why the hell do you say things like that? Maybe in the majority of Coming Outs this will be the case, but there are also numerous cases in which it will get worse, in which some young gay people may regret it, in which it was a bad thing with a bad, negative outcome when the people they came out to don't accept it. There is a reason why there are many homeless gay teens, you know? So it is not good to tell folks out there that it always would have a good outcome. Especially when parents are religious it might go very bad for gay teens coming out to their parents. I think you both say that it always would have a good outcome, because you both personally made this experience. But it is not good to conclude that it always would have a positive outcome. Just because your parents were accepting it doesn't mean that there are bad parents in this world which would throw out their children if they come out as gay. And if parents react negatively, you need some place away from your parents where you can live. At least make sure that you have this place if you plan to come out and if you are not sure about your parents reaction. Of course, if you already moved out of your parents home and if you are financially independet from them, there might be nothing to fear when coming out, because even in case your parents do not accept you, you have your own place and you are safe financially. I personally don't have contact with my parents anymore, because when they found out that I am gay, my father took a document of mine with which he was able to take all my money from my bank account secretly. I found out some time later, and of course I was shocked and of course I sued him and it went up to court and I got the money back which was a horrible time for me. I don't consider my biological parents to be my social parents anymore. They aren't part of my social family and I don't want to have contact with them anymore. Parents are not always good and accepting.

      This is so important. I took a risk on coming out and my mom was okay but she is definitely still homophobic and even said if I had a gay friend (almost all of them actually) she wouldn't let me have them over.

      Artime Silk Artime Silk No way... I was doing that same thing... And I was going back and forth watching like a hawk and using all the clues they dropped... Why did I suspect of them both because my gut was telling me... They're both gay... I was like well this guy looks like the sensitive type with big beautiful long hair and glasses so u know he's smart but then this guy is super cute and he looks like he takes very good care of that facial hair like it looks perfect maybe too perfect 😉😉... Little did I know my gut was telling... Hey they're both gay dummy... And that Grndr tone is so unique, if u hear that tone then u know they're either gay, bi or questioning... I wanna take the guy on the right on a date... That Adam's apple is sexy, that facial hair is hot and this guy is so handsome

    The chance for fraternal twins having the same sexuality is 25% and for identical twins 50%, so sexual orientation is indeed genetical or rather epigenetical (look it up).

    I can relate. I came out to my twin brother when I was 16. He's straight and I'm gay, and it was one of the most terrifying things I've ever done.
    We had bunk beds, and one night I decided randomly that, after 16 years, it was time. I just word vomited that fateful phrase. He said, "I know. I've always known. Shut up and go to sleep."
    It was terrifying, but God was is nice that someone knew. Twins know. Twins always know. Haha.

      Exactly. If your parents, friends, siblings, or anyone you are thinking of coming out to are gay bashers, violent, or you are pretty sure they'll be disappointed in a very negative way, don't say anything until you know you'll be safe-ie have a place to go, or a supportive group with you. Use gut instinct and always have a plan B for if things get ugly.

    i think i sort of made my guy friend come out to me , i was like.. (in half-joking tone) so you had any girlfriends? ... any boyfriends? he was like.. yeah (to the second one) , i was at first afraid to broach the subject but we;d known each other quite some time lalready, honestly for me its no big deal at all. But i was afraid i made him feel 'put on the spot', (maybe he was and i shouldn't have asked that ,just in case it was too soon), but he did say it lifted a weight off his shoulders . i wanna show my support and say that its absolutely alright, that i still wanna play music with him, and i've never judged him. i wanna contribute to an environment where he feels safe, and not obliged to hide things, or be anything other than he is. it feels great to do that for someone .
    i think if you are accepting of your loved one being gay , you could say things to make them feel you;ll care for them no matter what , maybe it'll make them feel more ready to come out to you

    • @anokomfan
      @anokomfan 9 років тому +10

      You shouldn't think that you pressured him. It looks to me that he wanted to tell you, and couldn't find the right chance, until you made that joke and left an open window for him to come out. Coming out is very difficult, so people usually do it only when they're ready

    • @Rezabsb
      @Rezabsb 9 років тому +5

      I agree with anokomfan. He wouldn't come out if he didn't want to. A couple of weeks ago in a bar, a colleague asked me a simpler version of the same question "Do you have girlfriend?boyfriend?" . I just replied: "am not in a relationship at the moment", which is true. Still, I believe it was non of her business.

    When I first started watching this video, I was like - "oooh, which one is the gay one? Which one came out to the other?" and after about 22 seconds in I concluded that it is definitely the curly-haired one. I didn't realise that this would be a case of them BOTH being gay. After the conversation started though - I guessed it before they said it.
    I am a twin (also fraternal - I am a guy who has a twin sister: I'm 18 minutes older) and we aren't that "twinny" or close sadly, not like this. I wish we were closer. My main question to you both is - how old are you? Only one of you needs to reply! :P

    1) they are twins... they have the exact same face. exact same height and kinda same build. one just took all the dark pigment and one was left with the light. hence the red hair and pale skin and then the dark hair and dark skin. its actually pretty freaking badass!
    2) good for you guys. props for doing this and inspiring other young gay guys out there to feel confident. i dont think its always been a good thing for SOME people but it usually is a freeing and great moment for other people. coming out is hard, but worth it! Keep it up!

    honestly idk why its so hard to come out to you're family cause in general it shouldnt be hard it should just be like saying you dont like onions on you're taco, its just a preference what you like so why is coming such a big damn deal it should just be like OK well if thats what you like go do you, being gay wont change you're personality or who you are, i had a hard time coming out it was until i was tired of hiding who i was, it was killing me inside not able to tell people and always hiding it to everyone that asked tony why haven't you got a girlfriend so many are always hitting you up and i always made excuses, but once i came out to everyone it felt so good felt good to be free from that huge boulder on my shoulder. Congratz to you guys on coming out, society needs to change not us.

    I adore you guys, but that's horrible advice. Some people live in environments where their main source of support, both emotionally and financially, come from brain-washed religious nutjobs who won't think twice about kicking them out to live in the street if they think that's what Jesus wants them to do. A person should come out when they are ready. By ready, I mean if things go worst case scenario, you'd be able to take care of yourself. If your loved ones already know before you can support yourself, they'll let you subconsciously know that it's OK to admit it.

      I get what you are saying and I agree for the most part, but I would like to say that not all "religious" people are brain-washed or nutjobs...I don't need to debate it with you, I'm just sayin' ;-) I would like to point out that those closeted teens who may not have support from their closest family members could perhaps contact an "open and affirming church" - Google it if you need to. These are churches that have publicly committed to welcoming LGBTQ people. As you can probably imagine, dealing with those churches is likely to be a positive experience and they will probably have resources to help closeted teens cope with their challenges.
      To the twins - I'm so glad your parents were so accepting and supportive and I hope that your positive experiences continue...God bless you and your family ;-)

      I find it hilarious how defensive religious people get when a person mentions how horrible some extremists are. -- If I read a story online about some black guy that was killed by a racist white guy, the comment I would leave wouldn't be along the lines of "Well, not ALL white people are racist." That would present me as petty and insecure. It would also tell everyone that I subconsciously think "All white people are racist." That's just what immediate defenses do.

    • @sheilalundlee2079
      @sheilalundlee2079 9 років тому

      LouisianaCityboi Actually, I'm not being defensive. You would be surprised at how many "mainstream" Evangelical Christians aren't aware that Christian denominations like mine exist - ditto the secular world. I should know, I was raised in a traditional Evangelical home and church and always felt like I was out of sync with the believers around me. I had no idea that churches existed where people didn't interpret Biblical passages as a license to hate or criticize. Imagine my surprise - and relief - to discover other believers who choose to interpret our Savior's central message of "love" in ways that encourage support and compassion for our fellow humans ;-)

    • @LouisianaCityboi
      @LouisianaCityboi 9 років тому +7

      Sheila Lundlee Well, maybe when the Christian representation isn't so hateful, people will stop associating Christianity with hatred. I don't know about you, but I would be disgusted with an organization that claimed to speak on my behalf and in actuality reflected nothing of which I believed.
